  1. Hmmm this doesn't coincide at all with Stearns' comments in Appleton.
  2. If Kiley can accurately predict a 15-16 year olds ceiling..... some team should be paying him millions to lead international scouting. You can sign a kid like Arcia for 70k or less and have them be a top 10 prospect in all of minors. You can sign a guy for 3 million and he may not ever make it past A ball. It is a complete crapshoot. We are talking about signing kids so are 9th-10th grade. Look at how many undrafted kids in high school go to college and become high draft prospects? How many high school prospects are little known in 10th grade then big time talents by end of 12? It's all about lottery tickets. More you have, better chance to hit. I prefer we stay away from the huge signings and continue to load up on talented lottery tickets. They all have high risk and high ceilings because no 15-16 year olds talent is close to being tapped out. I was more so referring to directing more resources toward Victor Victor Mesa (22 years old) he's way easier to project at that age and seems to have a lot less bust potential with his tools. I understand not wanting to put all your eggs in one basket, but depth has been the calling card of the Brewers' farm. I think it's time to start shooting for quality/ceiling over quantity. I imagine whoever lands Mesa trades spare parts for Baltimore's international bonus slots (notoriously stingy in L.A. market) I hope it's us.
  3. With such a big bonus pool I really don't understand why we are giving so much money to high risk relatively low ceiling (Kiley's opinion) guys like these. Instead couldn't we scrape the projected 3.5+M and shoot for Mesa. Dude looks like a possible top 150 guy already with room to grow. I'll admit I have little idea how the Latin American market works. Just discussing.
  4. It's Nightengale move along folks. Nothing to see here.
  5. The trade proposals in this thread... yikers.
  6. What would the price be for a Machado rental? I go back and forth. Who knows... if they were smart they'd take impact over depth... but the Orioles are not very smart. I'd give them back Davies in a package haha.
  7. Am I crazy or is that a pretty aggressive assignment for Mario?
  8. No thanks I would like a more versatile middle infielder. Also his value will never be higher than it is now. Would be dumb to buy at this point.
  9. Count me in for the best available college hitter or best prep pitcher. I'm really high on Mason Denaburg.
  10. Blake has been pretty abysmal but he couldn't be much worse than Bandy. I wouldn't give up much. I'd send them back Coca and a flier.
  11. Might not be popular, but I'd kick the tires on Jurickson Profar. - Has talent (former top prospect of the Texas Rangers and all of baseball) - Still young and controllable at 25. - Should be fairly cheap should the Rangers start their speculated fire sale. - Versatile - Could benefit from a change of scenery
  12. Not nearly enough, and Sogard has negative value.
  13. I don't think the Brewers have the money to eat Prado's salary for this year and next. But say they did, as the mock Marlin's representative I'd want something like this: Brewers get: C-J.T. Realmuto, IF-Martin Prado Marlins get: RHP-Luis Ortiz, OF-Corey Ray, RHP-Trey Supak, RHP-Zack Brown Take out Supak and replace him with someone more proven like Peralta or Burnes, and add in Nottingham and I think you have something that the Marlins would at least have to ponder. Realmuto will not be cheap. Hell they might hang up if they don't hear Hiura involved.
  14. I really like JJ and his entire story is one of the best in baseball. Easily one of my favorite players on the crew right now. The swagger he pitches with should put him in the all star game alone. I really hope he continues this absolute tear, but his peripherals look like something has got to give. His BABIP is obscenely low right now.
  15. I’m a natural skeptic, but some people stooped quite low when it came to harassing you. Hopefully this new platform gives you more control over the trolls and whatnot.
  16. Don't understand the allure of Baez and Schwarber. If they're playing for a team like Kansas City or Oakland they would be classified as just average players unlikely to reach their potential ceiling.
  17. This punishment was kind of... light. Maitan's star has dulled quite a bit since his 15 year old phenom status.
  18. Nowadays ESPN is more concerned with politics than competent sports reporting and writing. Forgive me for taking their "predictions" with a micro grain of salt.
  19. 1) Lewis Brinson 2) Keston Hiura 3) Isan Diaz 4) Josh Hader 5) Monte Harrison 6) Luis Ortiz 7) Corbin Burnes 8) Brandon Woodruff 9) Brett Phillips 10) Corey Ray 11) Tristen Lutz 12) Lucas Erceg 13) Freddy Peralta 14) Mauricio Dubon 15) Trent Clark 16) Jake Gatewood 17) Marcos Diplan 18) KJ Harrison 19) Kodi Medeiros 20) Trey Supak 21) Caden Lemons 22) Carlos Herrera 23) Carlos Rodriguez 24) Mario Felciano 25) Troy Stokes JR.
  20. Is it because he's Corey Ray's mentor? TBH I'm let scratching my head on this one.
  21. Some of y'all put way too much stock into MiLB stats. Especially if you look in the environment they're playing in.
  22. Don't think Verlander or Zimmermann would be smart at all just due to expected regression, age, and total cost. Fulmer is the only young starter that theoretically could be on the market that I'd break the bank for, but I highly doubt he's available. I think the Tigers are trying to reload for next year and not a full tear town rebuild although I think that it would be a wise move for them to start tearing sooner rather than later.
  23. Buying and Selling should always be options if it makes sense in the short-term and long-term. Who would you think about selling The reliever market is insane. I'd mainly shop Knebel for someone like Juan Soto maybe Robles if the Nats are desperate enough. I think this team has a chance at the playoffs albeit small, but I just can't see a scenario where the Brewers aren't washed by the Dodgers or Nats.
