  1. You have to think that moving Cameron at 1 yr 10mil would be pretty easy if a solid defender, high OBP guy comes along some where. I'm all for exercising that option.
  2. Yeah, I can't really say I'm envious of people who live in Texas or Arizona when it comes to weather. I don't really mind winter, although last year really pushed my patience with it. Now San Diego sounds pretty nice. That said, I really enjoy the four seasons. I couldn't imagine Christmas without any snow. I like getting out and ice fishing (in January, not April). Summer wouldn't be special at all if it lasted all year long. I was in Arkansas a few years back between Christmas and New Year. It was only a few days, so I don't know if this is typical, but it was like a high of 55 degrees and grey and overcast every day. With no snow on the ground you just saw dead grass and dirt. It wasn't very aesthetically pleasing. Again, I was only there for 4 days so I don't know how typical that is, but I'd take Wisconsin over that for sure.
  3. Does layaway lock into a sale price, as well? Not a concept this 23 year-old is all too familiar with.
  4. I want it to snow before Thanksgiving, but only enough to cover the ground for hunting. I'd like a few inches on the ground for Christmas (mostly from one Friday night-Saturday morning snowfall), because that is just how it has to be. I'll take a few more inches in January, maybe enough to get the 'Bilers a week of fun. After that it can go away. I had enough snow last year. Give me some good ice to fish on and I'll be happy. Is that too much to ask?
  5. "...but a parallogram is not necessarily a square." Oh, to be a freshman in Geometry again. No thanks.
  6. La Crosse bars are fun. When I was young the town I was from had 5 bars. Population ~900. That didn't count the 3 bars within a couple miles of town. There are only 3 bars open in town now and the population has skyrocketed to just over 1,000. People just don't drink like they used to, I guess.
  7. And a handful of more homeruns in the playoffs. Upton has big time potential, but don't let this postseason fool you. He hasn't been Ken Griffey Jr. of '99 in CF. He hasn't even been Mike Cameron of '08. I do like that OBP at .277 avg, though. Get him in our lineup!
  8. I've thought about a 30-30. I'm leaning towards a .270, but definitely looking into the 30.06 or 30-30 yet. Any ideas for good places to start looking for deals?
  9. Definitely walking primarily, and no plans to hunt anything bigger than whitetail any time in the near future. I was thinking .270 as well. I'll have to start looking around. How long does it take to purchase a gun? I mean, what kinds of checks and stuff will I expect to wait on? "estrada-like creatures." That's a moving target that I'm certain I could hit.
  10. As long as we're talking about guns. I've been thinking about getting a new gun for hunting this season. I only go out for deer hunting. I've used my old man's Savage 30.06 for most of the last 10 years or so, but I'm looking to get something for my own. Any recommendations? I pretty much exclusively walk through the woods on drives (at 23 I'm far down on the age scale in our crew, no posting for me) so something a little lighter might be better. Where would I get a good price? What should I be looking for? I'm not all that informed on guns, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
  11. The effect of OPEC dropping production will be negligible unless they make drastic cuts, which is unlikely due to how fragile the world market is right now. I'd expect gas to sit around 2.80 a gallon most of the winter barring any spectacular event. Then again, I'm not expert and those who claim to be admit it's nearly impossible to tell. Also, the price of crude oil makes up only about 1/2 of the price of gasoline. Just an FYI for anyone trying to (in vain) to compute.
  12. Peavey for Hardy, Jeffress and Gindl? No thanks.
  13. He deserves no credit. Don't you know the state of our economy?!?!? Ok, bad jokes aside. Svuem didn't do anything stupid (except bat Bill Hall 2nd). It wasn't like he lit the offense on fire, which you couldn't reasonably expect out of him anyway. I liked how he handled the bullpen. If he gets hired for the job, though, its going to be because of what the club knows about him already, not for anything he did in 16 games. He might be a good pick, but I don't think anybody here has seen enough to know that.
  14. You want to explain this further? How was he a big mistake? Was drafting him a mistake? Pushing him through the minors? Batting him leadoff? Keeping him this long? What leads you to believe that a 25 year old player will regress? I just wanted you to clarify, since there seems to be no reason in my mind that he can't at least be an average second baseman for the next several years.
  15. I'm definitely behind Weeks yet. He's cheap, relatively young, and has a good tool set. Gotta hold on to him for at least another year.
  16. That commercial is total bullcrap. There is no way a team would keep a lefty on the mound with Braun up in that situation at the end of a game! Also, my high school baseball coach would have flipped if he heard we were playing slow pitch in-season. Think Ned tore into Braun? LOL
  17. I'm high on Angel Salome as well, but I think he has enough work to do as a catcher before we consider starting him at another spot as well. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Alright. A lot of this depends on moves made in the offseason. If Prince is traded I could see Gamel moved over to 1B if his stick is ready. That could be Nelson's spot as well. Assuming Prince and JJ both are back. I'd expect Gamel to head back to AAA to work on his D and continue progressing his approach at the plate. Ideally something clicks at 3B. I would like a decision to be made ASAP, though, whether the guy can stick there or not. I don't want to see him moved to OF his rookie season in the bigs. I'm gonna say he is able to become an average 3B and makes another appearance in Milwaukee in September and takes the spot for good in 2010. Escobar intrigues me. I don't know what to think. They guy would have to hit .300 or better as a rookie to avoid being a black hole on offense. His BB rate and power just aren't their otherwise. He is supposed to be a great defender, but I'm not sure how many runs he'd save us over JJ. I think it is very important for a guy like him to spend a good chunk of time in AAA. I'd expect to see him there at least through early-June. Injuries could bring him up earlier. Hopefully the big club is doing fine and he can stay down and work on his plate discipline before another September call-up, as well.
  18. I think they look pretty sweet.
  19. Way too many people being realistic in this thread. Time to be homers!
  20. I have class at 4 on Wednesday which I absolutely can not skip, so I'm hoping for a nice 8-0 lead by the 4th inning or so. No DVR either. I'm golden for the rest of the series, though!
  21. I like your thinking lcb... I'll go this way... Angels over Sox in 4 Twins over Rays in 5 Dodgers over Cubs in 5 Brewers over Phillies in 4 Angels over Twins in 6 Brewers over Dodgers in 7 Angels over Brewers in 7 I'd be damn happy if I was right, but I really hope to be wrong on that last one!
  22. This bites if true. How the hell do you hurt your hand doing something like that? I could see taking a knee to the junk or something, but you would almost have to fall down and get stepped on to hurt your hand, right? I second Escobar, at least against lefties (though I'm sure it'll be Hall). He can't be worse than C.C. playing every day.
  23. I don't think this is a repeat thread, so I think we all need to give Yo major props for that effort last night. What a horse. I'm sure there are several guys who would have balked at taking any chance of pitching this year. What is Yo to personally gain really besides big love from some fans? Well, he came back and looked like a true ace last night. He really comes off as a guy who just wants to pitch and help his team regardless of circumstance. A lot like CC has sounded this week. I think Yo, Parra, and Bush is a solid foundation for next year's rotation going into the offseason. Regardless of what happens with CC or Ben Sheets, we WILL have a legitimate ace on the staff. Thank you, Yovani Gallardo!
  24. Yeah, I'm amazed at the huge dip in attendence in September. I think it shows how much the rest of the state supports the Brewers. Just a lot harder to get down there from Wausau on a weeknight when school is in session than it is in July.
  25. Umm, that looks like the schedule if the Brewers make the playoffs as the wildcard. Everything changes if the mets get in, including matchups. Definitely subject to change.
