  1. What do you mean nobody said that? Anybody saying the Brewers should have not haggled over the 3/4 million $ are saying that they should just pay more than the current system dictates players are to be paid. And we know from Burnes’s taking some details public that the Brewers did offer a higher number during negotiations. They only returned to what they believed that arb system number was when an agreement wasn’t made. Again, that’s the smart move to incentivize players to come to agreement in the future. They’re going to get their best offer through negotiations. If you choose to play hardball…Well, There’s no crying in baseball
  2. Because that would be more detrimental than beneficial to the Brewers long-term.
  3. If only any of that mattered in the current cleverly bargained system. That’s the point.
  4. I’m taken aback by fans who think the Brewers should pay players more than the current system says they need to. If Corbin Burnes wanted more money than the arb system dictates, he needs to commit to more years. That’s how it works in the current system. Why should teams, particularly those who don’t have a shot at elite talent once they are FAs, pay more?
  5. So the Brewers clearly file at what they think the collectively bargained system has set for players, and the player pursues a number they know to be higher than they’re likely to get, and the team is in the wrong???
  6. I sometimes like to disregard the use of facts, context, and reason in arguments, too…
  7. Bad as in “massive Fed rate hikes aren’t cooling the job market yet.” 517k new jobs. Staggering number, really.
  8. This is great info. Thanks.
  9. Doubt we’ll go hiking. Going to be a very baseball-centric trip, I think, but obviously we’ll have some time outside of the couple of games we are taking in. How early should a person get to these spring games? What’s the environment like? I’ll have a couple of young nephews with. Anything to consider for them? I have no familiarity with the area, but I’ve been doing some research. I’m just looking to avoid making any big mistakes in planning these few days. I’ve read several times that the area around the Brewers’ facility can be dicey. Thanks for the response, Nate!
  10. I’ll be heading to AZ in March for a short trip (Friday-Wednesday-ish) to take in some spring training games with my wife, in-laws, and brother-in-law family. My wife is checking out AirBnB/Vrbo for a decently priced place for all of us. She's found some spots in Phoenix and Mesa. Plan is to take in a game at the Brewers facility, as well as a Brewer game at the Padres’ site.Anyone who has done this before...any insight? Is there big upside/downside to staying in a certain city or place? Plan is to check out two games in the 3-4 days we'll be there, so recommendations on something to check out on our "off day"? Any and all intel would be appreciated. Tell me about things I haven’t even thought about!
  11. Sounds good to me. Been waiting in this for several months now.
  12. I hate to burst your bubble, but this deal is payroll neutral at best.
  13. I’m pretty happy with it. Winker has a rack record in the NLC that would fit nicely for us. Some upside with Toro.
  14. You’d think there’d be some communication, but I think both sides are probably realistic. It ain’t happening without a major hometown discount, and there’s no reason for CB to do that.
  15. AA at 18. Only 2 players his age have gotten 15+ PAs in AA since 2010: Bryce Harper Fernando Tatis Jr.
  16. Thanks. We don’t typically enter this early, but the kids are pretty excited. Hopefully the Reds will be hitting, or at least we can see some players moving about. We can hit the activity area before the game, worst case.
  17. Not sure where this belongs, so move it if needed. We have a group heading in for today’s game. Bunch of kids included. If we get in when gates open (60 minutes before?), will we be able to catch BP? Chance for getting autographs down from the Brewers dugout? Anything else to keep in mind on a Sunday? We’ve gone to a bunch of games in the past, but this is the first time really going in early with the kids. My boy’s 8 and baseball crazy finally. Hoping it will be cool. Thanks!
  18. Bump to add that Ally has jumped a couple times in the past month and is up to 2.0% as of today. It was 2.5% when we decided to move all our cash there back in 2018 and bottomed out at .5% in early to mid 2020, I believe. You obviously aren’t beating inflation, but it’s nice to get something for your cash. My US Bank account, which I’ll be closing very soon, sits at .01%. It’s robbery right now.
  19. 1) It is a 32 pitch sample. 2) Won’t he likely spend some time there from October-February?
  20. TT starting in CF and hitting 9th tonight. Boooooo
  21. Thought this was meant to be in Blue at first…Great redaction. I’d have thought Frelick for sure, but I’m excited either way. Mitchell has been great when healthy
  22. I think that’s the point of the entire tweet. It’s ignoring nothing…
  23. So where do you think he goes? LF? 1b?
