  1. This is why I wish we would have just fallen out of contention and became sellers so stuff like this didn't happen. This trade is awful.
  2. I’m hoping we trade Grandal, Moose, and try and find a taker for Braun. Trade for MLB ready pitching or at least high level minor league pitching. Insert Pina, Shaw, and Grisham into the starting lineup and see what happens. That is what I hope happens today.
  3. Can Ryan Braun fake an injury and get Grisham up to the big leagues? I mean this guy is starting to look like he could make a Hiura type impact on the club, maybe we can just outhit everyone the rest of the year?
  4. With how little the Mets gave up to get Stroman, there is no way we need to give up our top prospect for anyone we acquire this deadline.
  5. Totally fine with this move. He actually performed quite well for us in a relief role last year. My guess is that is where he will end up once Woodruff is healthy.
  6. I really hope we don't trade Grisham. He really seems like he will be the heir apparent to Braun, with no other obvious choices in the system at this time.
  7. Umm yeah, he isn't going anywhere!
  8. If we drop 2 or 3 games to the Cubs this weekend, I just can't see Moose being with the team next week with Shaw coming back up.
  9. Unless they trade for like 5 pitchers, they have about a 1% chance of winning the world series. The shrewd move would be to acquire as much young, controllable talent as possible at the deadline. Who knows, maybe some of the young guys we acquire play well and the team still makes a run at the division, you just never know.
  10. Peralta seems like the logical choice to replace him, but man has he been dealing from the pen lately.
  11. This pitching staff is just atrocious, they really need to sell at the deadline and gear up for 2020.
  12. Bottom line is we need to draft and develop players much much better than we have. At the end of the day, we are a small market and can't afford to make big free agent splashes with starting pitchers, I don't blame Stearns for that. But a big point of emphasis when he was hired was that he would focus on drafting and developing talent, so far that hasn't panned out.
  13. I'm with you. The Brewers should sell. Last night was my tipping point, but you posted this before the game. Jeffress is totally unreliable and this team just does not have anything remotely close to a bullpen that can be counted on in October. There is one guy that can get outs. Absolutely devastating loss that is pretty dang representative of this team's glaring problem. Edit: Totally not with you, lol, misread that, but I cannot buy into this bullpen. I just can't. I think they can make the playoffs with the right amount of luck, but would be a quick and easy out for anybody. I am a proponent of the Brewers being sellers as well. Just too much to fix with the pitching staff for one trade deadline. Is it worth emptying out an already mediocre farm system for? I would sell on Grandal and Moose, get what you can for each, and try and win a championship in 2020.
  14. If the Brewers lose tonight they will be 4 games behind the Cubs and in 3rd place in the division. If the deficit gets to 5 games back or more prior to the deadline, I’m selling and focusing on 2020.
  15. The bullpen is SO bad, will one or two trades really turn this around? Even if you fix the bullpen, the starting rotation is still mediocre. How much prospect capital do you expend to and turn around what is a below average pitching staff? If they get 5 or more games behind the Cubs before the deadline, I hope they do a soft sell and look ahead to 2020.
  16. I'm starting to think Grisham should get called up this year, and maybe even before September. I've been torn on this. He's still only 22, and as good as he has been, he probably still has some development in front of him. We've waited a long time for him to deliver on his potential and I think we need to resist the temptation to rush things now. 100% he gets added to the 40 in the offseason and maybe follows the Hiura path next year for a callup schedule. He has two more years in the minors than Hiura, and is having a bigger year in 2019 than Hiura did in 2018. If he can have a Hiura type impact on the big league club, I think you bring him up and see if he can be a difference maker. I think the conversation at least needs to start now.
  17. I'm starting to think Grisham should get called up this year, and maybe even before September.
  18. I mean the discussion of calling him up to the big leagues has to start soon, doesn't it? He is putting up crazy numbers overall this year, and has only gotten better at AAA. If he could have a Hiura type impact on the lineup, you have to consider bringing him up even before September, don't you?
  19. I hate to be a skeptic, but how in the world would we ever beat the Dodgers in a 7 game series? I mean their team is absolutely stacked this year, and we have regressed from a pitching standpoint pretty substantially from last year. You hate to see the Brewers empty the farm system to try and put together a team that has little chance of getting past them, or even making the playoffs for that matter. It would be the perfect year to restock and retool for next year, where you still have pieces in place that can compete for a championship.
  20. This week should be a big barometer of where the team is at. The Braves to me look like a legit title contender, it will be interesting to see how we stack up against them. But you're right, the bullpen is pretty lousy and needs improvement. But do you wait until the end of July to add to the bullpen, or do you do it now in hopes that it will keep you in the division race the next few weeks? Does adding two bullpen arms make this team a title contender, or is the starting pitching still not good enough to get us there?
  21. I think the team is going to get a big dose of humble pie in this series against the Braves. Assuming that happens, I would go into full sell mode. I would look to move Grandal, Moose, any of our relievers not named Hader, and I would see if there is a taker out there for Arcia and Braun. Shaw, Pina, and Dubon become every day starters rest of season, and hopefully we pick up a nice stable of prospects to replenish the farm system.
  22. Add a bullpen piece or two and maybe a bench bat, but other than that stand pat.
  23. Hooray!! So happy we finally made this move, long overdue. Now we just gotta get that starting rotation right, here's hoping!
