  1. Agreed on Dubon. Everyone is excited by how Hiura is handling AAA pitching, but Dubon has been nearly as impressive, while also finding a power stroke that many didn't realize he had. The future of this team's middle infield is in a really good place right now. Dubon is one Perez or Arcia injury away from being a regular at the MLB level. Fortunately (or perhaps unfortunately in Dubon's case), those guys have been extremely durable so far. I would love to see the team dangle Arcia out there at the trade deadline and see what he might bring back. Turn over the keys to Dubon and Hiura in August and see what they can do.
  2. I never want the team to lose, but I am rooting for a selloff at the deadline. This roster is not championship caliber no matter who they add at the deadline. They can get a haul for Grandal and Moose, who likely won't be around next year anyways. I would like to see them dangle Arcia out there and see what he might bring back and insert Dubon into the SS position if Arcia is traded. We may also have a few bullpen pieces other teams may have interest in as well.
  3. Dubon and Hiura have a chance to be a dynamite middle infield for 10+ years. I am terrified Stearns is going to trade one or both without ever letting this combo happen at the big league level.
  4. Hiura with his 19th bomb tonight. Is tomorrow the day we see him back up with the big league club?
  5. Shaw should be working things out at AAA with less pressure. He does not look like a major league caliber hitter right now.
  6. Chase Anderson does not belong in the starting rotation. I’d rather see Burnes back in there getting reps at least.
  7. I’m surprised the team hasn’t sent Shaw down to work on his swing. They sent Arcia and Knebel down in the past, why are they so hesitant with Shaw? Is it because he isn’t a homegrown player and they don’t have the same comfort level in doing it with a player they didn’t start with? That’s my only explanation at this point. It may be a moot point for a bit if Moose has to go on the DL.
  8. How much longer do we wait to call him back up? Offense has really scuffled with RISP, I’m tired of waiting for Shaw to be the guy he was the past few years.
  9. I just hate it that we don't have out best lineup out there with Hiura back at San Antonio. All of these games are so critical with the Cubs now getting Kimbrel. Not that having Hiura in the lineup would have mattered the past two nights.
  10. I don’t follow the draft that closely, but this sure looks like the first nine picks were very competently managed/chosen. Hope we can get them all signed.
  11. I agree with this. Is Clayton Kershaw too aggressive a comp? The first time I saw his video I couldn't help but see some Kershaw in him.
  12. People keep forgetting that the 2018 bullpen had plenty of issues till around the beginning of August. Well okay, Counsell loves using his bullpen like it is still August 2018.
  13. Counsell loves using his bullpen, only problem is it is not 2018 anymore and the bullpen has holes this year. I have never been into soft tossing relievers and can’t get on board with the Claudio acquisition.
  14. I'm on board with leaving him with the big league club long term. He appears to be an asset to the lineup and doesn't have anything left to prove in the minors IMO.
  15. So let's say for argument's sake Hiura takes the opportunity and runs with it a la Braun in 2007. Is the most likely scenario Shaw just doesn't get his full time job back? Shaw has to be nervous about having a full time job when he returns from his injury. I am really interested to see how this all plays out, especially if Hiura looks really really good during his time in the big leagues.
  16. Agreed. I doubt Shaw just suddenly had a wrist injury. Brewers sure could have used that bat the last 4 games. I get the feeling that Shaw's last three ABs last night sealed it. Two pretty hapless looking Ks and a lazy fly. I predict he takes 10 days off, then goes on a minor league rehab to AAA. Hopefully that does the trick. The Brewers are going to need that bat working again. I'm not so sure the team will "need" to get Shaw's bat working again. They are still 5 games above .500 and he has contributed absolutely nothing. I could see a scenario in which Huira becomes the every day 2nd baseman and Moose gets the lion's share of the playing time at 3rd base. I just don't want the club to have to rely on him if he can't get healthy this year.
  17. Wish he would have been called up for the Cubs series but I'll take it!!
  18. Would anyone (including Counsell) trust Matt Albers to come in during a meaningful juncture of a ballgame? I certainly wouldn't.
