  1. Mariner fans are saying that this trade only happened because it had been a while since Jerry Dipoto made a trade and he was starting to get the shakes!
  2. Haudricourt knows very little about Brewers baseball and virtually nothing about Brewers prospects. Taking on Kyle Seager would have negative value to the trade. Seager has a clause in his contract that if he’s traded his 2022 club option for $15M becomes a player option.
  3. Lol, but we STILL can't afford him.
  4. Dominic Smith has shown very limited power potential at all levels so far. He will quickly fall into a replacement level 1B type of player unless he absolutely rakes otherwise. Not a fan.
  5. Still expecting Jordan Lyles to be our big free agent starting pitcher signing.
  6. Put it this way: McNeil could see a Yelich-style jump in his power stats. Smith might also benefit. Davis becomes a right-handed bat to slot between Yelich and McNeil. They all had an OPS+ of 134 or better. For Hader and Lutz... a good return. A 1-6 of Urias, Hiura, Yelich, Davis, McNeil, and Braun is not bad. I'm afraid you are vastly over-rating Mr. Jeff McNeil. Especially his power potential...He only had 28 HR in over 1600 minor league at bats and he will be 28 years old already in 2020.
  7. I think it would be very short sighted to trade Hader with the thoughts of trying to fill the current holes in our lineup with multiple lesser talents. If you trade Josh Hader, a MLB ready, proven young stud would have to be a headliner, IMO. (Jeff McNeil will be 28 years old at the start of next season, BTW. Check out his underwhelming minor league career stats. Dude only hit 28 Hr in over 1600 minor league abs) Otherwise, Brewers are better off keeping Hader and filling those holes via free agency, etc. Unless blown away with an offer, I expect Josh Hader to be a Brewer to begin 2020. If the Brewers indeed floated the notion that Hader is available, my guess is that they wanted to gauge the market on him. That way, if they are OUT OF CONTENTION come his July or next, they can circle back to the GM's that expressed interest and already have an idea on what they'd be willing to give up via trade. It would even be smart to have Brewers scouting department scout some of the prospects being proposed in deals for Josh between now and July.
  8. If we took on Wil Myers and his contract to play 1B for us, we could probably make Padres add in a couple of blue chip prospects as well. Interesting idea for us to re-stock the farm.
  9. We still have Brent Suter on the roster. Everything will be just fine...
  10. They become unrestricted free agents and can sign with any team at any time (including the Brewers)
  11. Jake Lamb tendered a contract and Travis Shaw non tendered. Gives you an indication of how their respective organizations valued them. Especially since the Brewers are in desparate need of corner infielders and the Dbacks are in the opposite situation.
  12. McNeil is a nice player but NO WAY would the Brewers settle for him as a headliner in a Hader trade. (he's actually 2 years older than Hader at 27) And players like Dom Smith are a dime a dozen in today's MLB. Can't believe fans are saying they would do deals like this in a heartbeat.
  13. Personally, I'd put Suter back in the rotation and consider turning Lauer into a Pomeranz type role. My guess is that the Brewers brass saw something in Lauer's pitch mix that they liked/think they can fix and probably have a role in mind for him already. I do agree that one of Suter/Lauer does seem ticketed for the bullpen. Possibly both, depending on how the offseason plays out. I'm really hoping that Freddy Peralta is given another crack at the rotation, given his upside, however.
  14. No way in the world Strearns would even think of the deal. Lindor is estimated to get around $17M this year and lots more in 2021 and he is gone in only two years. He's way to expensive for the Crew plus giving up young controlable talent. Stearns would do this deal in a heartbeat, BTW. Not one of the 4 players being offered is proven at the major league level. Cleveland would be looking for a better headliner than Urias for certain. I do agree that it's not in the Brewers small market MO to pull off a trade for an expensive superstar like this though. The best way for a team like the Brewers to trade for a player of Lindor's calibur however is at the Trade Deadline in the player's last year under contract, and only if the Brewers are truly positioned to "go for it all" at the time. They would probably need to give up less, in this instance as well.
  15. There’s a strong chance that the Dbacks non tender Jake Lamb and I’m personally hoping he’s on Stearns radar. The similarities between Lamb and Travis Shaw are striking. Both Left handed hitting corner INF still in their baseball prime coming off a very down year. I personally think Lamb is a better hitter with a better batting eye and more upside. He also has been injury plaqued the last two years, unlike Shaw, which I think is a huge factor in his lack of production. I think he’s a better bounce back candidate than Shaw and would love to see him do it as a Brewer. Could be a moot point as I think the Dbacks are still high on him and may keep him. Non Tender deadline is Monday BTW.
  16. The guy made an error. He didn't kill a guy. Clean slate analogies are harsh for a guy who had a fabulous 2019. Personally, I think the walk Grisham drew to open the Wild Card game against Scherzer was more impressive than his late inning defensive gaff was embarrassing. With that said, I think it was very wise of the Brewers to sell high on Grisham after his breakout 2019 season. Entering 2019, MLB.com Prospect Pipeline had Luis Urias was ranked as a Top 30 prospect in all of baseball. Trent Grisham was barely rated amoung the 30 best prospects IN THE BREWERS SYSTEM. Making it even better, Streans traded from a position of depth to a position of need. Awesome. Good luck to Trent as a Padre.
  17. Urias was the youngest player in his league at AA and lead the league in OBP as a 20 year old. Kid can rake and has great idea of the strike zone. A prototypical leadoff hitter who knows how to get on base is super valuable to MLB teams.
  18. Luis Urias = PINT SIZED HIT MACHINE 2.0 Brewers Win!
  19. If people argue that Vizquel should get in on his elite defense, then Scott Rolen should be a shoe in. He won 8 Gold Gloves at the Hot Corner and has a pretty nice offensive resume to go along with it. Can't say I'm in this camp of voters though.
  20. Interesting proposal. However, I see a zero chance that MLB puts Cubs/Cardinals in separate divisions. You'd need to swap the Cardinals with either the Pirates or Rockies for your proposal to work. I agree that Montreal would be an expansion team for certain and the other would be either Vegas or Portland.
  21. Interestingly, the Distance between Orlando and Tampa is nearly the same as the distance between Milwaukee and Chicago. However, the fact that the latter are cities in two different states with great fan bases, compared to a single state with terrible baseball fan bases, IMO. Bad idea.
  22. I agree that the contract Wheeler will be offered by some team will be too risky given his injury history. Would love to add a veteran SP like a Bumgarner or a Hamels, but fully expect the Brewers to sign a Lyles/Miley type bargin SP. Would love from them to take a chance on a guy like Julio Teheran, however.
  23. It would more appropriately be an "optimistic teardrop" if you ask me.
