  1. Seeing the current market trends and that a rumor connects us to the Orioles, I'll revise my trade proposal for Bundy. Brewers get: RHP Dylan Bundy Orioles get: RHP Brandon Woodruff RHP Luis Ortiz OF Domingo Santana I really think this makes sense for both clubs. I like Woodruff but giving him the innings to develop in the majors is something a contending team can't afford to do as much as a rebuilding team.
  2. I didn't realize that we needed further proof, but there it is.
  3. I don't think I'd give either Oritz or Arcia straight up for Fiers. Why not try to package Ortiz, Woodruff and Santana together and acquire a better, cost-controlled young starter with a higher ceiling? Doubt that would get us deGrom or Thor, but Stroman, Gausman or Bundy are possibilites. And I agree on not selling Arcia low. I think the Brewers need his defense at SS more now than ever.
  4. This is the kind of deal teams serious about making a deep postseason run make. Franklin Perez, the headlining prospect in the trade, has been awful this season at High A. Hindsight is 20/20 but history shows that adding a veteran with a long track record of success is usually a recipe for success for a playoff bound team. And remember, for every 1 Ryan Braun prospect, there are 99 Mat Gamels.
  5. Everybody loves the "what have you done for me lately" stats. Same reason Brewer fans didn't want a "veteran" like Verlander last season. Just throw out Verlander and Hamels track record of success out the window.
  6. The Cubs basically paid $5M and no real prospects to add a veteran like Cole Hamels to their rotation for the rest of this season. With the injuries to Suter and Davies and no sign of Nelson contributing this season, I thought that adding a veteran like Hamels to our staff would have been well worth paying that price for the Brewers.
  7. I liked the comment that it's insurance to limit the amount of innings their position players need to pitch. That made me laugh.
  8. This 40 man roster crunch argument is a bit silly. I would think it's safe to assume that Stearns will be making more moves between now and Tuesday to deal away more prospects. And if not, well...then acquiring Soria is a bit silly.
  9. Love how we try to rationalize that all the Cubs moves are terrible. They basically gave up nothing and acquired Hamels to be their 5th starter. They will have Lester, Darvish, Quintana, Hendricks and Hamels for the playoffs. All 5 pitchers are arguably better than any of our current starters.
  10. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/cole-hamels-trade-rumors-cubs-rangers.html Looks like the Cubs are going to beat us to the punch once again.
  11. I'd rather us not be cheap again. Possibly make the playoffs instead.
  12. I think the Wheeler is like the 4th Met's stater I would want, behind Thor, deGrom and even Steven Matz.
  13. I think with our OF depth that Thames could be expendable for sure. The Yankees have Greg Bird as a LH 1B however.
  14. I would also vote no on targeting him via trade because I don't want to pay the price in prospects and agree that he is trending downward.
  15. Santana did not lose all his power because he slimmed down a bit. He was just being exposed by MLB pitchers for the average player he is.
  16. This can't be a serious question, right? Yes, Chris Archer is better than ANY of our current starting five pitchers.
  17. You gotta give Stearns credit. He acquired three NL All-Stars this past offseason. (Cain, Yelich and Jeffress) However the Stearns GM can-do-no-wrong hero worship is getting a little out of control, IMO. I really didn't like how he waited until after the Non-Waiver Trade deadline last year to make moves, for example adding a non-difference maker like Neil Walker. I think Brewer fans should at least wait until after the July 31st Non Waiver deadline THIS year before passing more judgement about his aggressiveness, or lack thereof.
  18. I personally think Bundy has the highest ceiling on your list with "Jake Arrietta in-his-prime", ACE potential. I don't feel the same way about Nelson and assuming he will return to his 2016 form could be fools play. I think besides Bundy, Freddy P has the next highest ceiling on your list, IMO. I love Burnes but that's not because of his ceiling, but instead because of his high floor. I think he'll be a solid #2-#3 starter with a long career. Because of that, I really don't want the Brewers to trade him. In the last 3+ decades, the Brewers have developed as many players like that that you can count on one hand!
  19. Corey's offense profile is starting to remind me of a left-handed hitting Mike Cameron!
  20. Word has it that Baltimore is open to trading him. He's cost controlled through 2021 season. I think this fits the Brewers possible contending window nicely. I prefer his upside over teammate Kevin Gausman or Blue Jay's Marcus Stroman. I think it would take a TON to get him but think he could be a diamond in the rough. Brewers get: RHP Dylan Bundy Orioles get: OF Corey Ray RHP Brandon Woodruff RHP Luis Ortiz OF Domingo Santana If we could somehow get this trade done with either Phillips, Broxton or Tristen Lutz in place of Corey Ray, I'd prefer that. With Peralta and Burnes future controllable pieces of rotation, I feel the Brewers should trade Woodruff and Ortiz now while they still have some prospect value. Domingo Santana has no future playing time with the Brewers, mainly do to the emergence of Aguilar needing regular abs at 1B, pushing Braun and Thames to the OF. Thoughts?
  21. Brewers would need a better headlining prospect than either Lutz or Ortiz to land Realmuto.
  22. BillHall Star has an interesting proposition but I'm nearly certain that Counsell will not no that route, so...
