  1. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the-good-the-bad-and-the-really-ugly-all-the-reactions-to-gabe-kaplers-phillies-debut/ Former Brewer sure is making it seem like the the Phillies pulled some random dude off the street and asked him to be the manager to start the season. Yikes. Philly fans will eat him alive! https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/after-another-gaffe-and-a-15-2-loss-phillies-manager-gabe-kapler-guarantees-playoffs/
  2. And for all you youngsters out there those things pictured are called "baseball cards"
  3. I'll look into getting it available on Podcast Addict in the near future. If you'd like to submit a question to be answered our next podcast, please email us at brewcrewreview@hotmail.com or you can post questions in this thread.
  4. Really don't understand how Brewer fans just rationalize that any big moves the Cardinals and Cubs make are somehow bad for them. lol This move certainly makes the Cardinals a better team this year. I'm starting to think of this season as the last true year of a Brewers rebuild and not having expectations of us finishing higher than 3rd in the NL Central. If we overachieve like last season, than it will just be a pleasant surprise rather than expected.
  5. The Brew Crew Review was a Local TV show from 2004-2012 that aired on Community Access Television in West Allis, New Berlin and Milwaukee, as well as on Time Warner Cable's Wisconsin On Demand Channel. The Studio where it was produced lost it's funding and closed in 2012. The former hosts of the program now live in several different states, however, all still remain HUGE fans of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club. Thanks to the power of the Internet, the fellas have decided to produce a weekly podcast, discussing the current affairs of your Milwaukee Brewers. Like Brewerfan.net, this was done simply for fun, and an outlet to share our passions for all things Milwaukee Brewers! Enjoy. Youtube: Twitter: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Brew-Crew-Review-2053231341616034/ We'd love your feedback and plan on taking listener questions for future episodes. Please share if you have any memories of the Television Show during the Brewers last rebuild that culminated in a NL Wild Card Championship in 2008 and a journey to the NL Championship Series in 2011.
  6. I'd rather sign Ray King.
  7. This sure came out of left field...
  8. Briggs you seriously need to stop bashing Villar at every opportunity you get. We get it. You don't like him. However, there was no way that he was getting non-tendered. I didn't see any Villar bashing in that post. The way I read it, he's saying with hindsight, he'd prefer to have Walker at 1/$4m at 2b instead of the combination of Sogard 1/$2.4m and Villar 1/$2.55m. I can certainly understand that opinion. Mentioning that the Brewers were forced to tender Villar because they didn't want to give Walker a 3 year deal is bashing. If you want to see REAL Villar bashing I can certainly help you out. The dude has the lowest Baseball I.Q. I've ever seen a Brewer have. (And with guys like Gomez that IS saying something!)
  9. 2018/2019 Free Agent SP Name/Age next offseason RHP Garret Richards (30) RHP Matt Harvey (29) RHP Lance Lynn (32) RHP Charlie Morton (35) RHP Brandon McCarthy (35) RHP Adam Wainwright (37) LHP Dallas Keuchel (31) LHP Drew Pomeranz (30) LHP Patrick Corbin (29) LHP Drew Smyly (29) LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (32) LHP Gio Gonzalez (33) LHP JA Happ (36) LHP CC Sabathia (38) There were a few other players who are not listed because I feel their clubs/players will exercise options (i.e. Price) or agree to extension (i.e. Kershaw) . The one I was on the fence about was weather the Rangers would pick up a $20M option on a 35 year old Cole Hamels, but their staff is so terrible they likely will. I also left off crap #5 starter (i.e. Franciso Liriano/Anibal Sanchez) type Free Agents. Tons of risk on all these players at their ages/injury histories if you ask me. I would have preferred Arrieta over almost all these players except maybe Keuchel, who I'm sure will be out-bid over our market. Oh well... Perhaps Brewers would be better off going for a TOR young starter at this year's deadline... Could be available via trade in 2018: RHP Chris Archer (we don't match up well with Rays as trade partners, IMO) RHP Marcus Stroman (will likely balk at the cost if even made available) RHP Julio Teheran (would have to breakout in the first half to even peak my interest) LHP Danny Duffy (he's a drunk, MKE not the place he will succeed) LHP Sean Manaea (meh...) Starting to wonder if we should convert Josh Hader back to a starting pitcher this year. We simply don't have a pitcher on the farm with his ceiling. I think we need a future ACE more than we need "Andrew Miller-lite". Having A.J. Puk in our system over Corey Ray sure would be a nice problem to have. 2016 1st Round Pick Player Team Position School 1 Mickey Moniak Philadelphia Phillies Outfielder La Costa Canyon High School (CA) 2 Nick Senzel Cincinnati Reds Third baseman Tennessee 3 Ian Anderson Atlanta Braves Pitcher Shenendehowa High School (NY) 4 Riley Pint Colorado Rockies Pitcher St. Thomas Aquinas High School (KS) 5 Corey Ray Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Louisville 6 A. J. Puk Oakland Athletics Pitcher Florida Hindsight being 20/20... We will probably draft another OF in the first round this year.
  10. Why would we have someone leadoff who will get thrown out even if he gets on base?
  11. This is how I hope Craig Counsell pencils it in: * Bats Left 1. OF Lorenzo Cain 2. OF Christian Yelich* 3. 1B Ryan Braun 4. 3B Travis Shaw* 5. OF Domingo Santana 6. 2B Hernan Perez/Jonathan Villar** 7. SS Orlando Arcia 8. C Manny Pina Also, I like Vogt* as Pina's platoon partner once healthy. I like this lineup, however MLB.COM doesn't have Brewers listed in Top 10 lineups entering 2018, with the Cardinals(#9) and A's(#10) in the Top 10. I think the Brewers should be at least above them, if not even higher then the Dodgers(#7) and the Twins (#8) https://www.mlb.com/news/top-10-mlb-lineups-for-2018/c-269228496 Thoughts?
  12. I agree that it is also foolish for all fans to be penciling Chacin in as a solid #3 member of the rotation just because he's a Brewer now. I basically have little faith in anyone in the opening year rotation other than Andersen and Davies and both also have short track records of success and aren't a sure thing not to regress either.
  13. I personally didn't want to waste giving up a high draft pick for just one year of Lynn. If it was for multiple years, maybe. The Brewers window to contend is not just 2018. In fact, I think we need to accept that the window likely won't open until 2019. Maybe Stearns and the front office already think this. That's why getting some invaluable MLB innings for Woodruff and Burnes this year while Nelson gets healthy won't be the worst thing in the world.
  14. Great post by TJ77!
  15. Yeah, what gives? I even logged into Brewerfan.net at 9pm during the heat of the Hot Stove season to get his inside info! The next thing you're going to tell me is he was just some crazy right-winged nut-job troll?
  16. The longer this thing dragged out, the more I didn't want any part of Mr. Cobb. My prediction: Suter is our 4th starter Woodruff is our 5th starter. (Please no Miley, Yo) Nelson and Burnes in the rotation mix by All-Star break. If Brewers are doing well after All-Star break consider trading for a cost-controlled young starter. My hopes for the playoffs this season have dimmed somewhat however.
  17. I think Craig Counsell plans on using Brent Suter as our #4 starter folks.
  18. Jonathan Villar makes common sense base running mistakes that Little League Ballplayers don't even make (I'm not exaggerating, either). I'm not sure how it's possible to have years of coaching from professional minor and major league coaches and still make the mental errors he does. I don't hold out hope for him that he will suddenly stop at this point. I don't understand why we haven't moved on from him as a starting option.
  19. It depends on what their contract stipulates, but at the very least, if it's a Major League deal, the player would at least need to be put on the 40 man roster.
  20. I think Sogard is probably the main backup at SS for the Brewers. I have a funny feeling Hernan Perez will eventually steal away the everyday 2B job and be the surprise "breakout" Brewer this year on offense. Sogard is better as a super-utility guy and Villar is just not very good.
  21. I figured it out. HH19 was ALEX COBB'S "UNDERCOVER" AGENT! (Que spy music...)
  22. Oh you were talking about on television. Unfortunately most rain delayed are longer than 2 minutes, however. But I agree, if they could just play all the past videos from Tim Dillard's Twitter feed edited together that would be a perfect way to wait out a TV rain delay.
  23. Is the roof at Miller Park still leaking?
  24. My only wish is that Tim Dillard had a role... ...in the skit AND with the Major League team.
  25. This is pretty awesome! https://www.mlb.com/cut4/watch-the-brewers-reenact-their-favorite-scene-from-the-sandlot/c-269093830 First time I've ever enjoyed Hank the Dog....starring as "The Beast". It's gonna be fun rooting for these boys!
