  1. Who's Scott Toen? Edit: Nevermind, I'm guessing you meant Scott Rolen. Yep. Quick phone typo. My bad
  2. Martinez is in the "Hall of the Very, Very Good" for me. Same with Jones, McGriff. You can tell the history of baseball in the 90's/2000's without mentioning them. I think the voters were spot-on this year (on the fence about Clemens). (That, and Martinez hit a career high in HRs at age 37, the only time he hit more than 30 in a year. Hit more HRs at age 37 than Thome with only ~50 more PAs, and didn't start falling off until age 39. Somewhat suspicious to me.) The next four years are pretty lean though as far as sure HOFs (pretty much just Rivera). Some of these guys will get in. Edgar Martinez has the same career OPS+ as Jim Thome, who got on on his Hitting alone. Bernie Williams and Scott Toen are hall of very good. Edgar is HOF if you look at his career productivity.
  3. Are you saying Chipper isn't deserving? He might be the 3rd best 3B ever... At worst he's 6th. Yeah no idea on that either. There’s no logical reason why hes Not a HOFer
  4. Hoffman and all this years crop deserve it. It’s ridiculous Vlad didn’t make it last year. Plenty more deserve to make it. Maybe they didn’t win enough MVPs and CY Young’s when rounded up monsters were outpacing them. All deserving (way more than Jim Rice, Jack Morris, etc) -Edgar Martinez, -Crime Dog -Andruw Jones, -Mussina -Schilling -Jeff Kent
  5. Wonderful. Why don't we plan on that sustained success 3-4 years out with our own prospects? 86 wins with a ton of guys performing to levels that probably aren't sustainable and we suddenly want to push all-in and give up our prospects for Yelich, Archer, whoever the hell else and hope we can overtake the Cubs or maybe win a one game playoff? It's insane to me. I'm on board with you trwi7, I want to sustain our rebuild until we are actually rebuilt, not abandon the plan all together because we "almost" made the playoffs last year. Did you see a Manny Machado trade proposal or something?
  6. I firmly believe Yelich bats leadoff if we trade for him. Agreed. Maybe he’d move to 2 or 3 if he ends until being a 30+HR bat, but right now he’s an ideal lead off
  7. How many times has Yelich posted a 30/30 season? Heck how many times has he even done one of those? Brinson is also far and away the superior defender. If Brinson can make enough contact to hit 270-280, he'll be light years ahead of Yelich and a legit superstar. He could be. Odds are he won’t be a superstar though (not every top 20 prospect pans out. You also forgot to mention if he stays healthy too. And the only If with Yelich is IF he is traded for, since he’s already shown to be a very good player. how many seasons of an OPS+ of 120 and 145 games played (Yelich career averages other than fewer games as a rookie) has Brinson had?
  8. It may be time to start consolidating OF talent kind of like the Cardinals this offseason. Brinson and Phillips for Yelich. Or Brinson, Broxton, and a prospect for Yelich
  9. Yelich is what Brinson would hopefully be and is easily worth more. The odds are slim Brinson will even be as good as Yelich, let alone better. And I like Brinson and would hope to get Yelich without giving him up (unlikely) but Yelich has already proven to be really good
  10. I think 86 wins with a young team and a bunch of prospects likely to be ready in the next 2 seasons answers whether they’re ready to compete
  11. not for what it will cost us in prospects, he is soooo over rated on this site, I truly hope it is not him. he gives up a bunch of runs, but at least he had a good K/HR rate while doing it!!
  12. If only AZ would consider it, I'd take this deal in a heartbeat. They wouldn’t
  13. Yelich would be a great add, but that goes for like 15 teams also. I read that the Marlins would prefer to to get players closer to the MLB (like Brinson).
  14. We don’t need yet another low OBP RHB. That being said, he be a steal at a Kendrick-like price. 2017 was the only year when his OBP approach lead off capability though, so Neil’s walker still makes more sense unless Nunez is quite a bit cheaper
  15. I’ll take that bet, since he’s not a free agent Sure about that? http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/kansas-city-royals/melky-cabrera-575/ I was, for some ungodly reason, thinking of Avi Garcia. Maybe it’s the thought that Cabrera could replace McCutchen is crazy, or I pictured both pudgy White Sox-no idea
  16. I’ll take that bet, since he’s not a free agent
  17. If Howie Kendrick is only getting 7million for 2 years, I think Walker, a somewhat similar player, will be looking at less than he wants. I also wonder why the Brewers, who could offer more playing time than the Nats, wouldnt be all over him for like 2/8-10 and a starting gig.
  18. Very Boras story since there likelybisnt much interest in a 3B getting into his 30’s who can’t get on base. And I saw a couple times where posters said it would be a good idea to trade Thames after getting Mouse m: 1- the team need more OBP, not less 2- it isn’t a great market to trade a LHB 1B
  19. He’s a cleaner fit on other teams like SF, the Jays, or O’s. But if they can at least at times play him at 1B and Confirto at CF it could work well, albeit with some defensive issues
  20. Especially if there isn’t a move to lessen the MLB logjam, they could keep Brinson down for 36 days or so and gain a year of control of him (I read that somewhere). Plus his injury to end the season and poor showing last year in the bigs make in somewhat reasonable.
  21. Yes because unlike those 2, Walker is consistently decent at baseball
  22. Aguilar is barely a throw in and with apologies to the Nottingham fans here, his is just a guy who is a barely adequate catcher who hit 209 at AA. Mejia would require a top 50 guy added to a Santana package. I’d put Santana as more valuable than Salazar. That means the Brewers would be giving up the extra value there, Nottingham, Aguilar, plus another player to equate Mejia. That last piece may have to be good, but it’s not that far off
  23. That lefty-heavy lineup is why Aguilar may have some appeal. I get Edwin moving to 1B vs LHB but there isn’t a great option at DH then. Apparently with picking up Brantley’s option and signing Alonzo, they like their lineup that way though
  24. Why in the world would the Indians trade for Aguilar, a guy they dumped less than a year ago? Less than a year ago they had an everyday 1B. Now they have a LHB platoon bat there. Plus Aguilar established MLB ability last year
