  1. Nelsons injury and Haders innings limit means they should get 1 external starter for next year. That major bar is going to come internal from hopefully more and better Ryan braun. Brinson and/or Phillips in CF for the year would also be an improvement. I think the only bat addition would be a trade or FA 2B, which wouldn't be a major bat obviously.
  2. So apparently Vogt and Pina are in a straight platoon? Sacrificing defense st 1B? Sure. But at Catcher it's way too dangerous
  3. Don't confuse us with facts. Craig Counsell is the worst manager ever. Some more confusing facts: Santana's OPS+ is roughly 40 points higher than Perez. So the difference is between a good or bad hitter. I think I know who I'd play if I was trying to get in the playoffs
  4. He has to despise Santana. He did this same thing last year and Santana isn't exactly old enough to need days off. It's just a way to get his pet Perez in there. I'm hoping they make Villar the super sub next year and trade Perez. One of the reasons is it may be the only way Counsell won't overplay him
  5. I'd be OK with Jungman or Peralta, just not Garza but I think we all know it will be. They should have pulled Anderson after the big inning yesterday at 29 pitches with an 8-0 lead and pitched him again Wednesday
  6. Except DHs should be good hitters
  7. Never understood the love Hosmer got. Probably mostly the product of being a part of the Royals runs a couple years ago. Outside of this year, his offense is pretty average for a 1B. He's an actual run producer as opposed to Thames who's driven in a paltry 26 of his teammates on base this season? Even "pretty average for a 1B" is an improvement over Thames. good idea. Base how good a hitter is off of RBI. You can take Pujols he's top 10 in AL RBI. Yeah Thames has been bad with runners in but he also stupidly is put 1 or 2 in the lineup
  8. Agree. Too many young OF coming up. Brauns gonna slow down and Santana's tall and a brutal OF
  9. At this point I'd expect to see the pitcher leading off tomorrow
  10. If Broxton has trade value this off-season then trade him. With brinson and Phillips ready and other OF coming up also, something has to give unless they want to keep guys in the minors forever. I hope they consider moving Santana to 1B next year to open up an OF spot and improve their RF defense. Thames could probably get something decent in a trade though
  11. Arcia was in the original lineup, scratched due to back spasms IIRC. Supposedly Villar is playing CF to get as many lefty bats in there as possible against Nova. Doesn't seem to be working all that well though. Nor do I see why he has to bat leadoff when he's in the lineup. Curious about Thames though, where would you bat him? I figured, but hoped to be wrong, about Arica being hurt. Personally I'd like to see Thames moved down to get some more runners on for our HR leader. -Walker -Braun -Shaw -Santana -Thames
  12. You don't like Thames .386 OBA or his 933 OPS against right handers ? I never said not to play him
  13. I indersrand nothing about this lineup: -sitting Arcia -Villar leading off after they finally got a decent option -Villar in CF -and I still don't love Thames 2nd in order
  14. It makes me wonder what he's gonna do when he plays al his starters. Like Walker 4 and Santana 5 in the lineup makes little sense Pretty sure he just put replacements in the lineup in the same spot the regular is and wouldn't be surprised if you kept the defensive positions in the same spot and just put the regulars back in you'd have close to what you should expect: 2B Walker, 1B Thames, LF Braun, 3B Shaw, RF Santana, C Pina/Vogt, SS Arcia, CF Broxton Ah yes of course-the Yostian school of managing. Why a position should matter to a lineup spot is ridiculous
  15. It makes me wonder what he's gonna do when he plays al his starters. Like Walker 4 and Santana 5 in the lineup makes little sense
  16. Mauricio Dubon
  17. I'd guess what will happen with Villar is sporadic time this year, starting 2B to begin 2018 and if he's still bad like this year they will bring up Dubon then, who might be ready and after awhile will have arbitration delayed a year
  18. Yeah in 2018. Lowrie is a '17 rental. Which should be good both in terms of cost to get him and he won't block future prospects
  19. I wouldn't hold out hope with him batting righty You could've ended that sentence after batting
  20. Oakland had little interest in him at the deadline and want to make playing time for Barretto. Saving a few bucks and getting a low level prospect while clearing time for their young player should be appealing enough to get a deal done, assuming he clears waivers or the Brewers claim him. His 350 OBP would be a big help to the lineup and improve the 2B position
  21. Lots of strikeouts is how they like it. They led the league last year and only increased that to almost 10 k's/game this year. I wonder why basically a whole team based on 3TO's goes through these brutal stretches
  22. Yeah if Keon can be "ready" to come back up after a couple days in the minors why can't Phillips be "ready" to take him over at the bigs by the same logic ?
  23. I would be pretty happy with that in front of the power hitters
  24. Because his OBP since June 1st is above .380... False. Yeah that's way off. But considering his OBP in April and May was 274 and 309, a 327 OBP overall shows he's inproving in that area. He wouldn't be ideal lead off but the best on the current roster (unless they trade for Jed Lowrie like I stated in another thread)
  25. Braun isn't batting 4th. He will hit 2nd or 3rd. Most likely 3rd until he retires or falls off a cliff. He should bat where he fits best and only that should matter but I think you also may be right. But flip Braun and Santana to keep L/R balance and it's still a good lineup
