  1. 2B is still a weak position across baseball, so this offseason I could see KC and a few other teams being interested in him- obviously for a modest return
  2. There are plenty of awful players like Wilkins or Flores to dispose of
  3. I'm not sure is read too much into Brinson playing at AAA. My guess is that they want both him and Phillips in CF and that's obviously hard tondo on the same team
  4. That Rangers lineup would be so good with Beltran and Lucroy added
  5. If there's one thing the Mets lack, it's a lefty hitting OF. Lucroy would help them so much more. They should be going after someone like Valencia to help both the infield and outfield corners They are still apparently looking at Lucroy for lineup balance. But hopefully they don't think the Bruce trade would be comparable for Lucroy. I'm not sure what the Reds were thinking
  6. Norris is having a bad year and still has 12 HR with more than 50 games left playing for SD. He's a 20-25 HR guy playing half his games in Miller Park and he's still just 27. Nothing against Pina and Pinto, but Pina's 29 and Pinto is same age as Norris, and neither has established themselves as major league catchers. True, but maybe a Lucroy trade should be that opportunity for them to establish themselves. They also don't cost anything to acquire
  7. Villar was pulled because of his awful base running. Thank God Counsell finally did this
  8. Broxton won't get a shot either. Niewenhuis is still on the team. Considering the garbage in TF they've played, maybe he should get consistent time (assuming Perez is at 3B)
  9. Flores needs to be sent down. Bring Wren up, and Kirk can take up bench space when Santana returns
  10. Even in a rebuilding year, I hate seeing the Brewers waste CF playing time. Kirk has no future and won't be trade able, so move on from him and throw another turd at the wall because the current one clearly didn't stick. See what Wren has - probably not much, but that's how to find out
  11. If the question of "guy" or "package" is perusing specifically to train Braun or Lucroy, then you must get at least one top tier prospect. I'm not saying it's always great to out your eggs in one basket, but trading star players is the only time it's even an option. You may end up trading for Mattt Laporta, but you also may be getting Nosh Syndergaard. Plus, the Brewes have enough guys projected for the back of the rotation/bullpen or future light hitting utility infielders. I'd take a dice roll (1 in 12) over a coule of lottery tickets (1 in a million). Plus when guys like Carter and Genmet are traded, that's when you get OK prospects because that's all you can get
  12. But Puigs 2 years left of team control wouldn't line up with the next window of contention. Maybe the Brewers would have to take him because I can only imagine his attitude after losing playing time if Braun was acquired. The they could play Puig and hopefully build back some value to flip next year. Maybe combining Lucroy and Braun to the Dodgers could bring back Puig, Grandal, Jose de Leon and more minor league talent
  13. Why spend on an aging free agent? Maybe he could be flipped, but there's no real shot at Bing competitive next year, so just leave CF to Wren, Reed, Liriano until Phillios is hopefully ready mid season ( also delaying Super 2)
  14. I mean I guess everyone can have an opinion, but you are the only person I think that would call Villar a long term utility guy. He has been very consistent all year hitting .300/.380 with an OPS over .800. If that is our utility player's stats I can't wait to see the full line-up. I could see him as a utility player, but more of a Zobrist-type super sub who plays everyday but at different spots. That would mean improving the current 2B and 3B situations. Maybe by the time of competition in a few years Diaz will be pushing for the 2B job and they've finally got a 3B in trade or free agency
  15. Costing your team outs on the bases seems like something worth getting bent out of shape over. You and others are getting all worked up over Villar costing the team a handful of outs on the bases when at the same time he's 2nd in batting average, leads the team in walks and OBP. The vast majority of other players on the roster are costing the team a hell of a lot more outs as they walk back to the dugout without even getting on base as evidenced by the team .323 OBP. That's a much bigger problem than Villar brainfarting here and there. If the rest of the team was getting on base at a .386 clip like he is, but also made some similar random dumb decisions on the bases, the team would be scoring more runs, not less. So while i hope he eventually learns to be a smarter baserunner, no i'm not stressing out over his brainfarts because it's very very low on the list of problems with the team currently. Again, I don't think people are saying that Villars a bad player or that he should be traded, so why keep bringing up irrelevant things to base running like OBP? The reason people don't like al the outs he makes is that they should be easily avoidable, it's not like asking David Ortiz to be faster. Villar just needs to be a little smarter. Easy fix = "why the crapnis he still making such dumb decisions?"

  17. "Villar makes too many dumb out in the bases." "Yeah but he's top ten in the NL in walks" - as if it has anything to do with the conversation about base running
  18. Gurriel is going to play 3B and if called up Bregman can play DH mainly and occasionally 3B/SS. Sure Gattis won't have an everyday spot, but he has sucked this year. AJ Reed plays 1B. Luis Valbuena would play 1B over Reed
  19. I doubt anyone is trying too hard to solve the mystery of why the Brewers aren't a good team this year
  20. While they seem pretty preventable I think the group of people that calls him a "moran" for getting thrown out are also the ones who applaud and praise him as he leads the league in steals. He's still a young player learning to steal. Why not in a year with no expectations see how far you can push the envelope? As frustrating as some of the blunders may be between him and our old friend Carlos Gomez, these two players have also contributed to scoring runs and putting themselves in positions to score that other players simply cannot do due to their tools. In any situation you're going to get some good with the bad. Any player. Chris Carter K's, Braun has chronic injuries, Scooter is handcuffed to second and can maybe? hit lefties, etc. That "moran" coming into the season was a castoff by his old organization. Looked at as maybe a utility guy and placeholder until Arcia is ready. Now he could be long term with the organization as he bats around .300 with some pop and speed. Growing pains are part of it. All players do have issues, but the difference is Villars is easily preventable and is doesn't take learning "experience" to determine that his attempts of 3rd aren't worth it even if he was making it. That doesn't mean he's not a good player (his pop has nothing tondo with base running so I'm not sure why it's even mentooned) and that his base running in other areas isn't good, just stop stealing third (the risk vs reward is obviously off)
  21. The moron did it again today.
  22. And the Answer is obviously no- look at Adam's stats
  23. I'd disagree with the Cardinals since Carpenter can move to 2B and Perslta at 3B, but also add Houston who can move Valbuena to 1B
  24. I'd actually says here are a lot of suitors for Lucroy, especially with a little creativity so I think he's gonna be gone. Indians - Gones has been awful and could be traded back Mets- Darnaud is hurt a lot and they have a platoon lefty at 1B Red Sox- yes Vazquez is good defensively, but so Is Lucroy but he can actually hit a baseball White Sox and Angels - if they can muster up prospects and if the Angels contend Yankees - McCann and Lucroy can split catcher and 1B. ARod hasn't done much at DH. Rangers- Chirinos is back but Lucroy is still an upgrade. Plus they have unproductive lefties at DH and 1B. Giants- Posey and Lucroy can rotate C and 1B to keep them both fresh with Belt playing OF, which the Giants need help in. Rays - have plenty of pitching and could get s hitter they can afford Astros - Castros been OK but it may not last. Plus they have issues at 1B
