  1. I realize the idea of a comp pick is not appealing as many fans feel a trade of Burnes would (should) net multiple players, but a couple aspects to consider: 1) any other team acquiring Burnes during the off season (or at the trade deadline) has to be willing to give up multiple players. As fans we might feel that is easily attained but in the end it still takes another club to be willing to do that. 2) the comp pick also comes with additional bonus pool money (for the 2025 draft). Not all of that bonus money needs to be spent on that single pick, it can be used on that selection and others depending on how MKE approaches that pick and the draft. My guess is the comp pick would be between rounds 1 & 2 (since MKE is not a tax paying club & it receives competitive balance selections) and a pick in that range should have a bonus amount around $1M. That means roughly $1,049,999 to be able to spend on 1 or more selections. That additional money could impact not only completion of more signings but also impact who MKE actually selects at different points in that draft.
  2. I doubt Texas would call CLE or try to deal fro Bieber.. The last time CLE traded a SP to Texas it was Corey Kluber to Texas for Delino DeShields Jr & a young RH reliever pitcher named Emmanuel Clase. Kluber lasted only 1 IP for Teas before getting injured and then departing as a FA after that season (going to NY Yankees if my memory is correct)..
  3. Thank you for chiming in & sharing the insights regarding the spring training situation.
  4. IF MLB expands after the situations are resolved with the A's & Rays, not only are 2 sites needed for the 2 expansion teams, but also 8 other sites for the full season minor league clubs for those 2 expansion clubs. So 2 more locations for AAA, 2 more for AA, 2 more for High A & 2 more for Low A. There is also the question of spring training / complex sites.. I suggest taking a good look at the locations that recently lost minor league teams. While a number of those locations lost clubs for good reason, I am sure a few of those cities will start pulling out all the stops in order to regain a full season minor team..
  5. Be carefully with that. If your feeling that way then the A's items would revert back to Philly (they were the Philly A's before KC or Oakland) and the Braves history would revert to Boston (they were Boston prior to MKE or Atlanta).
  6. Just placing this here for future reference... Jensen Lewis @JLEWFifty Mar 28 Crazy to think for the price of Francisco Lindor’s Mets contract ($341M), the #Guardians spent almost that on the following extensions/FA currently on the roster: $141M/7yr: JRAM $106.5M/7yr: Gimenez $33M/2yr: J.Bell $25M/5yr: Straw $20M/5yr: Clase $6M: Zunino $331.5M total ---------------------------------------------------------- & that was before this news broke on Weds evening https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/03/guardians-trevor-stephan-extension.html Note: No deals above were made to someone before their MLB debut... Not every deal is for mega dollars or going great (that Straw deal looks bad for the team at the moment), but a good front office (& I feel most believe MKE has a good FO) can effectively operate within a set of reasonable parameters.
  7. Just as FYI, David Fry was the player traded to acquire JC Mejia. He is among the Guardian players going out to play in the Arizona Fall league this year.. He has only played a handful of games at C this year for AAA Columbus.. #Guardians participating in the Arizona Fall League: RHP Mason Hickman RHP Cade Smith RHP Lenny Torres C/INF David Fry INF Angel Martinez OF Connor Kokx Coach Junior Betances #ForTheLand

  9. Your being a realist & that is a good thing.
  10. No. Go away. Holy.... Is that why the site crashed again this morning??
  11. OMG My computer screen just got a fresh coat of hot tea.... Damn that's funny!
  12. Actually I believe reading the posts that many fans are over-valuing the Brewer minor league prospects. Personally I think it was a good trade for both sides & I hope it works out well for BOTH clubs but the risk is definitely on the Marlins..
  13. I think HH19 wrote it best a few days ago that this deal will sting. Good description. As an outside person (neither club is "my team") I think the Marlins got back good value. Perhaps they could have held out for more (an upgrade over Yamamoto) but if that meant other pieces go with Yelich then they did fine. As it is they have now dealt the entire starting OF from 2017... As for the Brewers they got an established player with a lot of control remaining & all they gave up was potential. Granted if 1 or more guys go onto HOF careers, its a lot to give up. That said, no one knows exactly how each prospect will work out. Good move by both clubs..
