  1. Your being a realist & that is a good thing.
  2. Jesus Aguilar has signed a minor league deal with Baltimore & is expected to be added to the MLB roster as the rosters expand on Thursday 9/1/22 Jesus is already with the team as they play in Cleveland..
  3. Peterson was placed on the 7 day Concussion IL on 7/29/22... While players on the Injured List CAN be traded, his being on the concussion list does come with some additional risk..
  4. Don't be surprised if Cleveland is both a buyer and a seller at the deadline... SS Amed Rosario is a likely trade chip (with so many Middle INF guys in the CLE system & already on the 40 man roster). I'm hearing rumblings that RHP Zach Plesac is also a name in multiple trade discussions.. The CLE farm has a number of guys (both position and pitchers) ready/ needing the chance to play in the majors for CLE or another club.. Unsure if there is a match with MKE but there is always a chance of 3 team deals...
  5. Just FYI but Jackson has a younger brother playing in the CLE system this year... Here are some early result on the season for him (Jaison).. Cleveland #Guardians 17-year-old OF prospect Jaison Chourio younger brother of the Brewers Jackson Chourio is off to hot start to his career through first 13 games in the DSL! 14-47 16R 1(3B) 1HR 11RBI 20BB 9SO 3SB .298 AVG .507 OBP
  6. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/06/mlb-approves-david-blitzers-purchase-of-minority-stake-in-guardians.html This is bigger news then people realize. The last time CLE (the Doaln's) got a minority owner for the baseball team was 2016. John Sherman bought into the team for the same % amount of ownership & the same possibility of getting majority ownership. Soon thereafter there was the completed deadline trade for Andrew Miller, the scuttled deal for Lucroy, an exciting World Series run and the signing of Edwin E after the 2016 season. Sherman had 1 out in the deal - the chance to buy his hometown KC Royals (& as we know now, that came to pass). Now with David B onboard, CLE can look at more extensions (I know MKE will be watching for how a Shane Beiber extension would look as it would likely play a bearing on talks for Burnes & Woodruff) and adding salary at the trade deadline. IF (& I really mean IF) MKE falls behind in the playoff race and is trailing the WC teams come the All-Star break, a Hader deal to CLE could be the route to go. CLE has a boatload of talent in the upper minors and another roster crunch coming after the season. Hader should be able acquire a couple top 100 guys out of the CLE system that could help MKE in 2023 & beyond... Just putting the possibility out there...
  7. IIRC suspensions like the one given to Ramon L carry with it a suspension from post-season play (for 1 year)... Are we sure that Ramon is eligible for the post-season in 2022?? Otherwise a trade is made & he might be unable to help the club when it matters most...
  8. I am so thrilled this topic can be put to bed.. I kept telling people that an extension for JRam was possible... I guess the questions will now shift over to Shane Bieber...
  9. Consider the talks between Miami/ Pitts as reported on MLBTR.. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/03/marlins-notes-reynolds-hernandez-bullpen-neidert-sixto.html Miami has long had interest in prying star center fielder Bryan Reynolds from Pittsburgh, and Barry Jackson and Craig Mish of the Miami Herald shed some light on the teams’ discussions. The Bucs and Marlins discussed permutations that would’ve involved top shortstop prospect Kahlil Watson — Miami’s first-round pick last summer — headed back as part of a deal. However, Jackson and Mish write that the Marlins balked at including both Watson and 2020 #3 overall pick Max Meyer in a Reynolds trade. ...... Parting with both Watson and Meyer would’ve been quite a blow to the Miami farm system, but it reflects the huge asking price the Pirates can justifiably set with four years of arbitration control over Reynolds. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Its going to cost a ton in high-end prospect capital to acquire Reynolds including multiple players from any current top 100 lists.
  10. IIRC I shared this info nugget before, but if not, its very relevant to the topic at hand. From what I "heard", when Cleveland called to gauge the cost of trading for Reynolds pre-lockout, the Pittsburgh ask was: All 3 of prospects George Valera (OF), Brayan Rocchio (SS) and Daniel Espino (RHP) ALONG with 2 other prospects (1 pitcher & 1 position player) from the system top 25. Depending on which national prospect site you use, all 3 of Valera/ Rocchio/ Espino are in the top 100 and 1 or 2 could be in top 50 depending on the source. Pittsburgh has every right to ask/ demand the sun/ moon/ stars in trade return for Reynolds, but other teams also have the right to move along and look for other talent at a more reasonable cost. Considering that MKE & PITTS are in the same division, I would believe there would be an extra premium cost that PITTS would be asking for from any division rival....
  11. I guess David Fry needs to be added to the list of players no longer in the organization.. He is the PTBNL going to Cleveland for JC Mejia...
  12. Yep.... My error on that one.... Copied from the wrong open tab. Thanks for the assist StearnsFTW
  13. Prospects1500 posted its own ranking of the farm systems on 2/9/22. It is free to review so here is the link... https://www.pitcherlist.com/2020-mlb-farm-system-rankings/ MKE is 23rd on this listing, up from 28th last season. As a side note I am loading all these published rankings into a single excel spreadsheet. With 5 sources released so far, MKE is 22 with an avg rank of 22.6... The only near consensus is ChiSox at the bottom (30th rank in 4 of 5 lists & #29 in the other)..
  14. While KLaw has MKE at #26, it is an improvement from last year when KLaw had the system at #28.... -------------------------------------------------------- Something for everyone to consider: While the MKE system might be improving, it might not be improving at a rate as fast as other clubs.
  15. Ok... I have been able to locate all 30 BA rankings (without paying for the subscription or waiting for the handbook). Here are the ranks for the teams in the NL Central according to BA: Pittsburgh #3 (up from #13) Cincinnati #7 (up from #19) ChiCubs #15 (up from #17) St. Louis #18 (down from #12) MKE #25 (up from #28)
  16. Pretty sure I saw Haudricourt mention #25 somewhere, but I could be mistaken. Thanks.... Another confirmation of improvement down on the farm.. EDIT: Continued digging has revealed Oakland at #27, Houston at #28 & LA Angels at #29.. IF #25 is correct for MKE, that leaves 4 teams(St. Louis/ SD/ San Fran/ Colorado) and slot numbers 17. 18, 21 & 24... Edit #2: San Fran confirmed as #17
  17. While many noted the various top 100 prospect lists being released, has anyone else noticed the release of various farm system rankings?? Baseball America & Bleacher Report have released their rankings this week. Bleacher Report (Joel Reuter) had MKE at #25 in 2021 & now up to #20 in 2022. Baseball America had at #28 in 2021 but I am still trying to locate the rank for 2022. MKE is one of a handful of team rankings I am still trying to track down at the moment. Currently I have teams/ rankings confirmed for the top 16 clubs along with #19, #20, #22, #23, #26 & #30. Does anyone know the Brewer ranking for 2022 yet??
  18. Jose Ramirez is not being traded for a bunch of players that includes 2 SS in the return package... I've written this before on this chat board- Turang is good prospect but he has more value to the Brewers and to other teams than CLE. Same can be said for Lopez. Currently CLE has 8 MIF on its 40 man MLB roster. Of those 3 played at AA or AAA in 2021 (Gabriel Arias, Tyler Freeman, Brayan Rocchio) and are ranked in either the Baseball America or Baseball Prospectus top 100 prospects in baseball. Tyler Freeman #63 on BA Brayan Rocchio #66 on BA & #47 on BP Gabriel Arias #100 on BA & #57 on BP CLE had a roster crunch coming into the 2021 Rule 5 roster deadline & honestly has another roster crunch coming for the 2022 Rule 5 roster deadline. They are not going to trade 1 player to bring back 6 where most/ all have to be added to the roster now or by the 2022 Rule 5 roster deadline. Any JRam trade needs to bring back high quality, not high quantity... BTW- If the word is accurate that a minority owner (with path to majority ownership) has been found is true, then odds favor Jose Ramirez signing an extension instead of getting dealt.. When John Sherman (now owner of KC) came on as a CLE minority owner in 2016, CLE spent the money, made the FA signing of Edwin E after the 2016 season & had payrolls over $100M until Sherman departed to buy the Royals...
  19. Ahem... CJ Stroud as a red shirt freshman was up and down this season & arguably the best QB in the Big10 this past season (2021-22). The crown of Best QB in the conference is his to defend in 2022 & if he can post ANOTHER game with over 550 yards passing, the question will be if he enters the NFL draft for 2023... -------------------------------------------------------- In case it was missed, tOSU was without 24 different scholarship players for the Rose Bowl. Some absent had no impact. Others missing was noticeable. JSN got nearly 350 yards as Olave & Wilson removed themselves from the game & Utah didnt have the CB depth to slow the WR group. I doubt JSN gets that many yards with Olave & Wilson playing but tOSU might have started scoring earlier & gotten to 60 points again with them on the field..
  20. The Rose Bowl has held multiple Super Bowls & college playoff/ championship games. That will place it ahead of Lambeau on any Icon list in the minds of most people. For a Packers fan, Lambeau is iconic. Bears fans feel the same about Soldier Field & Steelers fans feel the same about Three Rivers & now Heinz field. For a non-Packer fan (& most of the country are NOT Packer fans), Lambeau is cold place where a handful football games are played each year. 1 memorable game (the Ice Bowl) was played at Lambeau in the minds of most people so it would not be top 5, let alone #2. Old Cowboy stadium with the field size opening in the roof or the SuperDome will be more recognizable & jump to the minds of more people when asked to think about pro football venues..
  21. How in the bloody blue blazes does a 20-year-old who is presumably in excellent physical shape just pass away? Unsure but if I learn of the cause I will share it... Let this serve as a reminder that tomorrow is not promised to anyone. enjoy each day/ night you have and be grateful for those in your life and your loved ones...
  22. Very sad news to share..... The source is normally very good at breaking news regarding players in the CLE minors... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Guardians Prospective @indiansPro · 58s Incredibly said news to report tonight. #Guardians 20yr old © prospect Andres Melendez has passed away. Melendez born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela came over to Cleveland in a trade for INF Mark Mathias in 2019. He spent the entire 2021 season with (Low-A) Lynchburg.
  23. I think it's relevant to point out that every job, every position, and every coach should be criticized and praised for his own merits and failures, not just "coach X has a better win % than coach Y or Z, therefore is better". I'm not going to get into the Coach CHryst debate in this thread, as it's not the place for it. I will say that Michigan fans had every right to question keeping Harbaugh around given his record against their cross-border rival. Good for him. He got it done this year. He's 1-9 against OSU, and fair or not, that's one of the measuring sticks for success at Michigan. For the record, Harbaugh is now 1-5 against OSU. Since John Cooper (2-10-1 record in 'The Game') was pushed out of Columbus in late 2000, Michigan has won 'The Game' only 3 times: 1 time over Jim Tressel in Ann Arbor (2003, 35-21) 1 time over interim coach Luke Fickel in Ann Arbor (2011 40-34) 1 time over Ryan Day in Ann Arbor (2021 42-27)
  24. Both sides want it the universal DH.. It is going to happen with this CBA. Owners/ Clubs: to protect the big investments made in SP MLBPA: create 15 spots for Bat only players (generally older vet types). The National League is the only remaining baseball league where the pitchers are required to hit on a regular basis.. No other place in the minors, college, foreign league require its pitchers to regularly hit
  25. To clarify … I’m actually disappointed that the “one” daily podcast is such poor quality - not worth listening to While you feel its poor quality, it might be pretty good in comparison to others out there. If you really feel there show aspects that can be approved, leave a review or contact them with constructive feedback. Most hosts look for the feedback... I know the Locked On Guardians host asks for and appreciates feedback & commentary from his listeners. He also looks for ideas from his listener audience. Just this weekend he was asking via twitter which CLE draft class year to do an in-depth review on for a multi show segment..
