When the income gap in this country has been getting larger for at least a decade, I say screw the owners, throw that money around more evenly through the minors in my ideal world. Don't know if it's possible but that's what I'd like to see.
If there's a salary cap limit for players, maybe there should be a cap on the percentage of profits an owner can pocket without re-investment. Money definitely needs to be spread out better and if anything all prospects in the minors should band together for a raise.
For me, It’s not just that Schoop looks lost and swings at everything the worst part is he looks physically scared out there in his facial expression. Anybody else notice that? Maybe that was how he looked in Baltimore playing but I get no confidence he’s comfortable and on his game and focused.
We've all gotten new jobs where it just "clicks" or doesn't with our co-workers/bosses. Schoop definitely looks uncomfortable right now. Hopefully he regains some confidence because his swing and ball/strike recognition is comically bad right now. So bad I'm thinking/hoping his head must not be right.
There is also adrenaline, levels of confidence, concentration, etc. I think "clutchness" or whatever word you want to use, can exist. "In the zone" is a phenomenon many basketball players claim is real whereby performance is elevated.
Anyone know why owning a baseball team has been so profitable "of late"? I know concession prices and gear prices are out of hand but that 1.5 billion profit is beating inflation by 1.3 billion.
Never been a fan of Tebow but who am I to criticize another man for pursuing their wishes or dreams. I'd give it a try too if I had his resources and athletic ability. He'll most likely fail but good for him for trying. Dude is definitely jacked. Hit .450 in high school. http://www.barstoolsports.com/newyork/after-watching-this-video-of-tim-tebow-hitting-in-a-batting-cage-im-as-convinced-as-ever-that-he-can-make-it-to-the-majors/
There are a couple other non-descript players in MLB (Nolan Reimold for one) that have that stance. We may see it is hard for him to keep his hands back and handle pitches low and outside. Either way I'll let Darnell Coles worry about it. If there are no changes down the line then obviously it will work for him.
Do we need a player development make over as far as coaches in our minor league system? Or is this kind of kind of erratic performance every system goes through? I can understand the Co Springs predicament with our pitchers, but it seems our prospects are pretty erratic in their hitting numbers.
I've always like Maldonado and thought his stick was underrated. It will be interesting to see how he does with regular ab's. I also like how he utilizes the high fastball when calling a game. Thought Lucroy didn't do enough of that.
