  1. For the Cubs/Cards series, I'll probably just hope neither team sweeps. The only teams I'm truly worried about for the wildcard are the Braves, Cardinals, and sort of the Mets. I expect the Marlins to fall off pretty hard; they're already starting to struggle.
  2. I actually think I would want the Brewers to make that deal, maybe. Could use Gamel at first, acquire one or maybe use Nelson as a stopgap.
  3. What's your definition of decent? The guy was struggling when the Brewers got him last year. Hopefully, we won't see another horrible trade again like that one. Can't call it a horrible trade til you see how Inman does compared to how the Brewers supplemental picks turn out. That's for another thread though.
  4. It's fine that I've been labeled a "pro-Sheets guy," but I do like to think I'm still being objective about it. I'm not saying a long-term deal for him isn't a risk, but it is really the only chance the Brewers have of acquiring a pitcher of his caliber. Even if they trade Prince Fielder, they're very unlikely to get back a pitcher with Sheets' talent. He's a top 10-15 starter in MLB; those guys aren't going to get traded for anyone. I'm pretty sure that's what people are trying to say when they call him irreplaceable.
  5. As an aside, I'm not much more than a casual NBA fan, yet I've heard the phrase "Yi's handlers" dozens of times. Where did this phrase come from? Does it sound ridiculous to anyone else? Does anyone here have handlers? Also, I'm warming up to the idea of taking Jerryd Bayless. It sounds like he has a good chance of lasting to number eight. That would allow the Bucks to trade Mo and CV for a power forward.
  6. Hey, the JS finally has the story! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif I don't think taking Anthony Randolph jives with this move. This is a win-now move, and everyone says Randolph will need a few years to develop.
  7. Yi might be really good, but he would never have re-signed here so he'd have been really good with someone else anyway. I think this is a credit to Larry Harris for sticking to his guns and taking the best player available last year, because they'd never have been able to get RJ with Corey Brewer or Brandon Wright in the deal instead of Yi.
  8. I'd be almost sure Simmons was a part of it. Jefferson makes too much to not get rid of Simmons in the process.
  9. Apparently it was reported on ESPN radio?
  10. Pitching on the Olymic team proves he loves the spotlight? Then why would he have re-signed with the Brewers once already if Milwaukee wasn't a big enough spotlight for him?
  11. Bit surprised you left the Vikings running out of time for their pick two years in a row. I think that might top it for me.
  12. Redd had the 18th highest salary in the NBA last year. Doesn't rebound, distribute or defend.
  13. What are your thoughts? It's better than going after Sabathia because he'll demand much less in return, but he'll still be a Type A after this year. Could be similar to the Linebrink trade, except Fuentes is actually having a good year.
  14. Trading top prospects for a three month rental also significantly changes what a team can do. If C.C. guarantees you a playoff spot it's maybe one thing, but the Brewers cannot significantly risk their future for that. They have a decent shot with the team as it is.
  15. The way people talk you'd think he's missed multiple seasons with crushing arm and shoulder injuries. He's never had a shoulder or elbow issue, and he's never thrown less than 106 innings in a season.
  16. He was always a proven ace.
  17. Well if you know he'll start every game he's supposed to, I probably would. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I know Sheets has been injured, but he's never come close to missing a full season, and he's been good/great whenever he's healthy enough to pitch. I don't really think 5 years/100 mil is a good idea, but I'm not convinced the Brewers will need to go that high. There are ways to make the payroll work. If you need to shed salary, don't do it with your elite players--do it with you role players. Deal Suppan, don't pay 3 mil for Craig Counsells and Guillermo Motas, etc.
  18. Was he kidding? I wasn't so sure...
  19. So does he let Branyan hit off Gonzalez, or go to Hall? Guessing we'll see Hall.
  20. Why Mota? Isn't Jones lefty? Edit: Ah, Chipper's pinch hitting. But wouldn't you still want to keep him turned around?
  21. Campillo's screwball looks nasty. I'm actually surprised Branyan was playing today, as Campillos is tougher on lefties than righties.
