It drives me nuts. Braun could be just about the best hitter in the world if he just took some pitches.

Mothership, that was beautiful. Just perfect.

Unless this deal would buy out two or more free agency years, it really doesn't make sense.

I think Kendall's LASIK is going to replace Mench's upgrade in shoe-size for the most-covered non-baseball correction.

While I don't totally get the fawning over her looks, she is good at interviewing. It's nice to actually have someone with some knowledge of the game.

Can't say much that hasn't been said. I loved those Cold Pizza interviews. I remember during his 18K performance I was at my friends house listening to the game and washing our cars. Funny how you remember exactly what you were doing/where you were during things like that. Aside from that, I like how quickly he works, his knowledge and appreciation of the game and its history and the funny sound bites.

Considering how the Reds have hit him in the past, I'd probably take that.

Not going to lie... I would be terrified if I saw wild turkeys running at me.

Ooh, cheap shot. Not like it starred Joan Cusack.

I almost think desperation would be continuing to hold out for some big name coach that isn't appearing. I imagine it became apparent after a few days that no "names" were going to come to Marquette. Although I do admit the six-year deal is strange and unnecessary. Michael Hunt chiming in: "Tony Bennett didn't take one step closer to his home state. That was the hire most people wanted to see, but what it said was Marquette is not a better job than Washington State." Or... Maybe it means that Bennett didn't think the Big East was right for him. Or maybe he just didn't want to move his family (is the Indiana job also not better than the Wazzu job?) Or maybe he prefers to wait for another job. Or maybe a myriad of other things.

Again, how do we know this?

I think it's pretty tough for us to say whether this is a good hire yet. I don't think that there was anyone interested who was easily a better choice than Williams. The only ones who were weren't interested. Tough to make a great hire when no great candidates are interested.

Lowery has done pretty well at SIU. I wouldn't be disappointed with him.
  14. Oldcity
I don't understand that line of thinking. Miller, Bennet, Grant, etc. were all uninterested. What else are they supposed to do if any of the high profile coaches aren't interested?
  15. Oldcity
This one doesn't look too great on paper.

Suppan's disappearing no-trade-clause after '08 says, "Right back at ya."
  17. Oldcity
Probably not likely. It was just as bad the first five games.
  18. Oldcity
No problems with the lineup except I'd have definitely put Hart in center. Doesn't make much sense to put Gross there. Prince's first homer of the year comes today.

"Overall, Astley is fine with the phenomenon, although he finds it a little "bizarre" and only hopes that his daughter receives no embarrassment over it." Hilarious!
  20. Oldcity
Guess I'm not hip. I first heard of it like a week ago.
  21. Oldcity
Crazy long signatures and quoting aside, there are some witty posters there.
  22. Oldcity
I may have misinterpreted. I was thinking he meant "left early" as in Yost pulled him earlier than most would have.
  23. Oldcity
CV left early? The dude gave up four straight hits without recording an out.
  24. Oldcity
Anyone else just lose the high def feed?
  25. Oldcity
I actually don't think Villanueva pitched well today.
