  1. Hart: Yeah, I guess I misunderstood the point of your post. My bad. James>Hughes this year, although it's debatable with Flowers. I probably put Flowers above James because Flowers has really elevated his game this season.
  2. I'm with you on the trash-talking and taunting, but a ton of players do that. I have never seen him fail to credit teammates where credit was due. I'm wondering if you disagree with my opinion that Marquette would have at least two fewer conference wins if James wasn't on this team.
  3. I need some feedback here. I am saving up for a nextgen system (I guess it's now "thisgen" huh?), but I likely won't have enough saved up for about two months. Do I pick up the game for PS2 or wait until I get a new system? I'm leaning towards waiting, since that would only delay the purchase of my new system even further, but it will stink to not have the game for awhile.
  4. I know I'm a bit late on this, but couldn't the club have cut poor Felix Pie some slack and just called it an "undisclosed injury"?
  5. Not sure if you're using this as evidence that the draft is or isn't a crapshoot. But in the case that you were trying to say it's not, that list actually proves that it is, indeed, a crapshoot. The fact that some of the best players out of the draft fell that far (which happens every year) should prove that point.
  6. Again, this is possibly another misconception. Beane is never quoted as saying that. Michael Lewis stated it without quoting anyone in the organization. Also, if you recall the brief moment during the draft where the A's thought Nick Swisher would not be available to them, one of the scouts suggested Fielder, so that would at least imply that Beane hadn't sworn him off as a pick.
  7. I'll definitely second the vote for sleep. Good night, everyone.
  8. I think it could be classified as a gangster movie. I enjoyed it a lot, but I just don't think it would get on many people's top 5.
  9. What do you mean by model citizen? Doesn't that imply that he has a sketchy off-court life? I haven't heard anything to imply that. Unless you mean you don't like his on-court demeanor... It's a huge stretch to say Marquette would be better without him. There'd be a huge drop-off if you had Acker or Cubillan running the point.
  10. Not only have writers/announcers made grossly incorrect statements about moneyball (written by Beane), but they continually make others, such as stating that Moneyball was all about the value of OBP when it is in fact about finding what's undervalued in the free market. OBP is far more valued now than it was when Moneyball was written.
  11. Yep. I just don't get why coaches don't do this. Bruce Pearl did it the other day and it helped Tennessee beat Memphis (not that one example is reason to do it, I'm just saying). Marquette missed easy layups and a ton of free throws. Add in a bunch of questionable calls going Georgetown's way down the stretch and in OT, and that dude banking in that sick three pointer in OT, and it made for an extremely frustrating game.
  12. Oh dear. We're going to have to have a little non-violent chat sometime. Sorry man. I just find them boring.
  13. Really I don't get the hype over this one. I mean I guess the "That's how I feel" was a bit amusing, but I don't mind that he's upset about losing. It's not like he's attacking a reporter or saying something absurd.
  14. Bo Ryan Natalie Portman The Truman Show Arrested Development MLB Draft Pickles
  15. The Eagles Indie Rock (some's alright, generally just find it boring) Pizza Gladiator (again pretty good, but if you tell someone you didn't absolutely love it you are ridiculed--I honestly got a little bored with it for awhile because of the length)
  16. I think it has to be Sheets. If he puts together a full season (without dropping off much in production) the Brewers will very likely make the playoffs.
  17. It doesn't make much sense for them to hit the pitcher eighth unless Pujols hits second. Similarly, I wouldn't mind the Brewers hitting Kendall ninth with either Braun or Fielder second.
  18. I've always had U.S. Cellular and get great reception everywhere.
  19. Remember last Spring when Braun hit like seven homers in his first game?
  20. Oh man. I don't think BF could have handled a Branyan start on the first spring training game.
  21. Do you think Woogie outdoes himself in other aspects of his life? Or just for the IGTs at brewerfan.net? Awesome job. And yeah, that lineup is pretty.
  22. The last two years he hurt the Astros from a baseball standpoint--they had no choice but to play him regularly. But he more than made up for it by putting fans in the seats and selling jerseys, so whatever.
  23. Only thing is small ball usually involves giving up outs, which takes runs away. Ok, not trying to hijack the thread. I don't think the order matters all that much, but I'm all for getting Prince as many PAs as possible. Also Hardy should not hit second until he shows more patience. I like Cameron in that spot quite a bit.
  24. What do you mean by "none of them got to this point?" Zambrano was set to be a free agent in '08 but signed during the regular season in '07, so he was past this point. Sure, the Cubs and Astros have more money, but that's not really a big issue. The Brewers can just trade Suppan after this year to free up money for Ben if they want to. Plus after another great year of attendance, one has to think the payroll will go up at least a little once again in '09. It would basically be a wash if they move Suppan, and with Cameron and Gagne coming off the books as well it still leaves plenty of room to sign the younger guys hitting arbitration. I have to say I believe Sheets will get a four-year extension if he stays healthy this season.
  25. Man. I watched that whole thing! For some reason I couldn't look away...
