  1. This is lame. I'm just worried right now.
  2. How miserable. That did not look good. I hope it's not a Zumaya tendon thing.
  3. Well that one pitch to Gwynn was low. That was a pathetic inning either way. I don't have much confidence after the fourth hitter in the lineup today.
  4. Man Sheets hit 99 on the FSN gun.
  5. I'd also think they'd trade Matt Morris before one of their younger starters. But then again this is a team that builds around 36-year-olds, so you never know.
  6. The Cubs are winning like crazy and they haven't hit a home run in their last ten games. That annoys me. And right on cue, Soriano immediately hits a home run. Now I feel better.
  7. Gosh I hate the Cubs. They don't have a home run in the last ten games...
  8. Now THIS would be a big acquisition. It makes no sense to me that the Giants would trade him though. They should be building around Lowry, Cain and Lincecum. Edit: His WHIP is higher than I thought. It's actually a little surprising that his ERA is that low.
  9. Six years at $51 million for Mo Williams is a complete joke. He's not worth close to that. I hope he inexplicably declines it.
  10. On a related note (that being no more Jenkins vs lefties) Bill Hall said he hopes to be back as soon as he comes off the DL. That might not be likely, but they're now saying it wasn't really a "high ankle sprain."
  11. That quote reminds me of Mark McGuire's classic "Steroids is bad."
  12. Escobar could be part of a deal. Alone I'd guess he'd be enough to get a decent reliever but nothing more. The Brewers have other shortstop prospects so I wouldn't be very opposed to trading Escobar.
  13. Pretendastronaut: SWEET user name! Tonight's lineup per JS: CF Corey Hart SS J.J. Hardy 3B Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder C Johnny Estrada RF Kevin Mench LF Geoff Jenkins 2B Rickie Weeks P Chris Capuano Estrada back in the five hole... Sigh.
  14. I was pretty much kidding. I was just dubbing Melvin's refuter of the rumor the "Kiss of Death."
  15. Tommy La Sorda would be funny, but he'd screw up all the time. Also he's not young himself.
  16. JS Link Rumor denied: As the summer and pennant races heat up, the Brewers, for the first time in many years, will be in a buyer's mode. General manager Doug Melvin was asked about that but also took some time to deny a report out of Cincinnati that the Brewers were in talks to acquire Reds outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. "I was talking to (Reds general manager) Wayne Krivsky today and then this afternoon I came to the office and went on the Internet and there was something about us getting Ken Griffey," Melvin said. "I just got off the phone a half-hour ago with the Reds' GM and (Griffey's) name was never even mentioned." Welcome to Milwaukee, Griff. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  17. Write a lot before you work on links so people have something to see. Mine started as a school project and I really didn't have a clue as to what I was doing. I registered with Google and Technorati, but like Al said I really didn't get many visitors until I spread the name around. I didn't want to push it too hard, but I just linked it in my brewfan sig. The results were immediate. Al even saw it here and linked to it once on Ramblings. If you have facebook or something like that, list it there. I'm not near the level of Al's Ramblings or others, but I'm just kind of just doing it for fun. I've only had it going for five or six months. We have two authors and I make a few posts each week. I'm enjoying it.
  18. I wouldn't be crushed, although it hurts a bit that they didn't get a top guard in the draft. I'm not a fan of Williams' game. It will be interesting to see what Harris does if he goes to the Heat.
  19. Only problem is they'd be selling very low on Capuano. You like to avoid that if at all possible.
  20. Is four at-bats for Reyes really necessary?
  21. Wow... That's a huge contract. No way he's worth it, at least baseball-wise.
  22. Fair enough. It's probably not as big an issue as it is for starters, but I see your point about pinch hitters vs. designated hitters.
  23. Salty is something that I hadn't really considered. He's a pretty good hitter but not near what he was pegged to be. Plus I've heard about his character issues, as others have mentioned. I'd rather just see what we could get for Vargas, but at least this is a feasible rumor.
  24. I don't really think AL vs NL is an issue for late-inning relievers, since set-up guys aren't going to be facing pitchers anyway. Still, I'd definitely prefer Otsuka (if healthy) to Weathers.
