Seager would be a pretty exciting pick, but it sounds like it would be risky as well. Goldstein said there's a "very real chance" he'll go to college if he isn't picked in the top 15.
Apologize if this is being discussed somewhere else, but why on Earth haven't they moved Mark Rogers to the bullpen yet? After this year he's out of options, and he is just struggling mightily with walks as a starter. He clearly isn't going to be a starter next year with the Brewers; the only shot he'll have is as a reliever. Doesn't his stuff translate very well as a reliever? What am I missing?
This is definitely an important point. They'd get an absolute haul of players if all these guys were dealt, and surely some would be MLB ready. It probably wouldn't be more than a year before they'd be trying to contend again. Not too bad of a result if they can't turn it around this month.
Aren't there serious doubts as to whether Castro can stick at shortstop? I'm not sure how his bat will play at another position, at least any time soon. He has five walks this year.
I don't exactly understand the motivation for the new FA compensation rule. Why does they player need to be with a team all year? Are they trying to lessen the excitement of the trade deadline?
