  1. Just refining plate disipline. Not only taking walks but things like knowing when to guess and when not to, recognizing that a pitcher is going to work you low and away the entire AB and how to adjust, adapting to the release point quickly, etc. He looks like he goes up there with no strategy or a bad one, cant adapt, and hes a tick slower than he used to be. Gotcha, thanks for the explanation.
  2. 3-1 and Greinke breaks off a beautiful curve for a strike. Totally freezes Duda, then strikes him out on the next pitch. Awesome.
  3. Crazy talk. Weeks has a career's worth of good production that shows this is just a bad slump. Bill Hall had just over a year's worth.
  4. So what's more frustrating: Looking at strike three float by, or lunging after a pitch out of the zone? Tough one...
  5. Parra has probably moved his way up from more than just mop-up, but there aren't many options left for high-leverage situations lately. Veras is still in there by default. The Brewers really miss Saito, Hawkins, and last year's bullpen with guys with low walk rates. Way too many walks from the pen this year.
  6. Was nixing trades a common practice for the commissioner at one time? Hard to imagine something like this in baseball now (although it did just happen in the NBA).
  7. Seems like Roenicke is a good manager in all the areas fans can't see. I don't like his in-game managing at all, namely all the godforsaken bunts, but it's hard to say which is more important. I preferred Macha's game strategy to Roenicke's by quite a bit, but I wouldn't want Macha to manage over RRR. Doesn't seem to do much good to have a manager the players dislike.
  8. Sorry, didn't realize what you were getting at. Thought you were thinking of Machado as an answer for this year. I'm not ready to write off the Brewers yet. They play in a weak division and there's an extra playoff spot this year. I like your idea of giving it another month at least and then reassessing.
  9. Hardy or Machado doesn't make much sense because of what they'd have to give up. Trade Hart for Machado? That's just filling one hole by creating another. Only options if they want to make a move now is someone like Bartlett or Carroll. Both players are struggling, and Bartlett isn't cheap. He's still an upgrade over Izturis.
  10. His production last year was a .325 OBP. I don't understand the interest here. Green is likely to hit better than he is. If we're talking a strict platoon with Green and Lee, sure, but does anyone think Roenicke would do that?
  11. Any time you can pitch Tim Dillard over John Axford in a tied extra inning game, you have to do it.
  12. Veras and KROD are so frustrating to watch. Constantly falling behind.
  13. Which one, strike 2 or strike 3? I was talking about strike 2, but 3 was almost as bad.
  14. Getting calls correct >>> Games going 15 minutes quicker. The delay for baseball wouldn't be nearly as long. Plus, how much time is wasted when managers come out to argue?
  15. Yep. This is the move to make, but they'll never make it.
