  1. It will be interesting when the announcements occur, how they happen. In order to make schedules they wouldn't need to know whose affiliate it is, just the levels and leagues. If the Northwest League enters "A" ball opposite of the California League, maybe it makes it possible/likely to split the Midwest League between the two "A" levels. If you can't get all the teams together, maybe you can clump them with two Midwest teams and your AA and AAA teams near each other. A stretch, but what if you could move the Mudcats up to AA and steal the Durham Bulls from TB?
  2. I have to think behind closed doors they are farther along than we might think. Occasionally there are tweets put out and then pulled back that make it seem like some things have been decided - for example Boise put a message out recently saying their new era begins April 1st, which is interesting as historically they don't start until mid-June.
  3. Seven of the Brewers top 30 current prospects are international signings. Hopefully in the next few years, Groopman's efforts will start making an influence on the major league level, including these upcoming signings.
  4. Any chance Stearns makes a surprise trade (Peralta, Hiura, etc.)?
  5. If MLB doesn't move a lot of leagues around, it wouldn't shock me if the only change the Brewers see is their AAA team moving to Wichita.
  6. I could see Gonzalez or Freddy Galvis?
  7. Binelas or one of a few college outfielders would be a solid first rounder.
  8. Am I correct that you have to offer at least 80% of the previous year's salary, so that would be about Hader's 2020 salary for Knebel? It wouldn't shock me if a number of these players are gone including one of the catchers. With Feliciano not far behind, it may be time to give Nottingham one of the MLB catching spots.
  9. Kevin Long just became available, as the Nationals are changing their coaching staff up. For the last fifteen years or so, he has had some pretty good offenses and a lot of the debate has been whether he is a good coach or did he simply have a lot of great hitters.
  10. There is a difference between saying coaches worked hard and coaches did a good job. Even though it is difficult to evaluate in a 60-game season, I would not be disappointed if the team went a different route for hitting coach. A couple of names I would consider would be Tim Hyers (Bos) and John Mallee (LAA Asst.).
  11. If I remember right, Yelich was a first baseman in high school and the Marlins had even talked about moving him to first.
  12. Yelich is also very weak in the field. The catchers did a nice job this year, especially pitch framing, and Urias wasn't bad at third. Arcia tends to make a flashy play here and there making you think he is better than he actually is.
  13. What is Keston's future position? Second base is not working. Can he play first? Is he just a DH? He continues to struggle on defense, especially on plays to his right. I know analytics say defense does not matter much, but the Brewers without Cain have a lot of poor defensive players all around the diamond.
  14. Pensacola has a nice field, but would be really small compared to other AAA fields. An interesting sidenote is the Pensacola owner is also the owner (or will be) of the Beloit team.
  15. If you want to group three affiliates similar to how the CWS have done it, I would recommend you try to steal Birmingham for your AAA affiliate and maybe add Pensacola, Chattanooga, or one of the SAL teams (Greenville, Greensboro, Columbia, or Charleston) as your AA affiliate.
  16. Looking at the ballparks of current affiliates it looks like most AAA stadiums are 9K or above and AA stadiums are 6K and above. I think the new Beloit ballpark is going to hold under 4K.
  17. Just to be clear my Dayton thought was for AAA. Trying to think of what "Midwest" city could support a AAA team - Fort Wayne, West Michigan, Kane County? When a writer suggests Sioux Falls as a possibility for the Twins, it makes you wonder how hard some of these teams may try to get an affiliate close to "home".
  18. Would it make sense for the Brewers to try to strike a deal with a city? Dayton, anyone?
  19. It could be interesting to see if LincolnDD is correct at AAA and Milwaukee and Pittsburgh may be competing for Indianapolis and Rochester. If the Brewers end up in Rochester (a city that has had a AAA team for a long time) would they try to get a AA affiliate in the Northeast - Hartford, Trenton, Lancaster, Tri-City, Hudson Valley, etc.
  20. From a travel perspective it would be great to see the Midwest League split in half (probably East and West) with one "league" being A+ and one A-ball. These leagues could potentially cover A-ball for 8-10 of the "Central" teams.
  21. LincolnDD, I give you a lot of credit. I don't know if I would be confident even placing the leagues at the right levels at this point.
  22. So much is going to depend on which leagues set up in each level. If the California League moves to Double-A, you could see the Arkansas teams come into play for the Brewers at AA. Indianapolis would be a great AAA affiliate for the Brewers IMO and I still wonder if there could be some debate between Beloit and Wisconsin. Under your scenario, it could be interesting to see if the Wisconsin teams could end up split between your Great Lakes League and your Midwest League and both end up as Brewer affiliates.
  23. I could definitely see Sacramento staying at AAA and Lancaster being contracted keeping the California League as an eight team league.
  24. TalkNats.com predicted Indianapolis, Midland, Wisconsin, and Carolina for the Brewers. They moved some leagues around to different levels. Biloxi and the Southern League moves down to A+
  25. If the CWS cannot pull it off locally when they are in third largest city in the United States, that is not a good sign for a small market team like the Brewers. I could see the Brewers trying to get their four teams in or close to the CST. For example, Wichita at AAA, Biloxi at AA, and one of the WI teams at low-A. For high-A, maybe you move the Mudcats a little west trying to get into the newer park in High Point, NC or really think outside of the box and move the Carolina League team into eastern Tennessee (Chattanooga).
