  1. Again, he projects about as good offensively as Moose. Was he a bottom of the barrel player in your mind too? Difference being that Moose plays third base where offense is harder to find vs Garcia who plays a corner outfield spot where his numbers are a dime a dozen. Meanwhile we have no answers whatsoever at third base with a load of garbage options in free agency besides Donaldson who we rightfully aren’t paying 25 million per season for 4 years.
  2. This is where I am at. It’s fine to trust Stearns as he has earned it but let’s stop acting like Brett Anderson and Garcia are great players because they are not. We are clearly dumpster diving and Stearns has shown he can make it work but guys like this are nothing to get excited about.
  3. Either Kluber is damaged goods or a lot of teams including the Brewers missed the boat. I think its pretty obvious that we are going to go into the 2020 season with a much lower payroll regardless of whether this was a move we should have made. If healthy lots of teams are going to be kicking themselves for not beating this completely underwhelming offer.
  4. The only way I can get behind a trade of Hader to the Yankees is if Dominguez is in the deal. If Andujar is the main guy coming back it will be a major failure. Hopefully the Dodgers pony up and include Lux.
  5. Andujar is a DH masquerading as a third baseman. Dominguez would have to be part of any deal and knowing the Yankees they would try to sell us on Frazier instead. Unless Dominguez is included I have no interest in doing a deal with that team.
  6. Would you have traded Hiura for Edwin Diaz last year? That's essentially what you're asking for with Lux or Adell for Hader. Diaz 2016-18 | 191 IP | 64 ERA-/60 FIP- | 5.9 rWAR/6.3 fWAR Hader 2017-19 | 204 IP | 57 ERA-/63 FIP- | 7.2 rWAR/5.9 fWAR I personally wouldn't have traded Hiura for Diaz & I don't believe either LA club would trade Lux or Adell for Hader because 6 years of an elite position player prospect is more valuable than 4 years of a reliever, even thee very best one in the game. No I wouldn't trade an elite bat like Hiura for a reliever but the Brewers can't afford to give away cheap elite talent for relievers. Teams like the Dodgers can trade away Lux for a guy like Hader who can put them over the top. By your thinking there is no way Torres ever gets traded for Chapman but thats exactly what did happen and Hader has 4 years of control vs the couple of months that Chapman had. As a small market we can't afford to make deals like this which would destroy our future but the Dodgers can certainly trade Lux without thinking twice. If we can't get a guy like Lux then keep Hader but the last thing I want to see is us trade this pitcher for a pile of mediocre talent which is what the Yankees and Mets have to offer. The media can and will treat the Brewers and other small market teams as feeder systems for the Yankees and Dodgers but luckily we have a great GM that knows better. Stearns is not trading Hader for a pile of garbage and I am very happy that is the case.
  7. Adell is exactly the type of elite prospect that we must get back in any Hader deal. The last thing I want to see is a quantity of mediocre talent in any potential deal. We MUST come out of any Hader deal with at least one and preferably two top of the line prospects like Lux or Adell.
  8. You have to be extremely high on Dominguez to even do a deal with the Yankees. Knowing the way that Cashman operates he will try to unload a pile of trash for Hader and to be honest I really don't want to help that team win anything.
  9. It's likely that Noah would throw more innings over his two years of control than Josh would over his four. Now of course, Hader's innings have been of a higher quality & come almost entirely in only the highest leverage spots, so the Mets would have to include one of Davis/Smith & more to even it out. If you want an established "ace" in return for Josh, I don't see us getting one that has equal or more control, just based on the volume difference between SP/RP. If Hader is dealt I would imagine that Stearns & company go for as much team control as possible in return. I still don't think Lux is going anywhere, but something like Ruiz/Gray from LAD plus a couple low level fliers the scouting/analytics department likes makes the most sense to me. If the Dodgers aren't willing to include Lux then no deal. Let them flop in the playoffs another few years.
  10. Propose your own trade(s) then. Ok here goes Dodgers: Lux, May, Ruiz or Gray Yankees: Dominguez, Garcia, Frazier
  11. Stearns better be shooting for the moon. If we aren't getting great talent like Lux we shouldn't move the best reliever in the game. I am absolutely in shock at some of the potential offers that some of you are willing to accept.
  12. No no no. Boyd and Maeda is not even remotely intriguing and I have no interest in Correa with his two years of control. Get elite talent with lots of control years left or forget it.
  13. I am shocked at the consensus of what we should be willing to accept for Hader. We cannot and should not trade Hader unless we are blown away which means receiving a minimum of one can't miss guy with a ton of control years for the team. That means Lux must be part of any Dodgers deal, the Yankees have nothing of interest besides Dominguez who is very far away and the Mets have nothing to interest me at all. The headliner can't be someone with 2 or less years of control so that eliminates Syndergaard who is too inconsistent anyway. Dominic Smith is a mediocre piece at best and the rest of the Mets tradeable pieces don't interest me at all. Hader is unquestionably the most valuable reliever in the game when you factor in what hes done and the 4 years of control remaining. Unless we are getting some incredible players in return we shouldn't move him for a large quantity of mediocre talent. As an aside I have no interest in helping big market behemoths like the Yankees and Dodgers unless they clearly blow us away. Unless we get an offer that we just can't refuse just keep Hader because dealing him for the likes of Dominic Smith or Andujar from the Yankees would be extremely infuriating.
  14. The fact is we need to do a better job with drafting and developing so we don’t even have to consider paying guys like Lyles 8 million per season. As far as paying any free agent upwards of 20 million per we shouldn’t even be thinking of it. As great as players like Donaldson and Strasburg are we just cannot afford to have an empty 20 million or so on the payroll. If we were to sign a player of this ilk and they were to get hurt or just not play up to their usual standards we would not be able to overcome it. Stearns knows this and it’s why he doesn’t make moves like that. Let our GM do his job and I think when all is said and done we will all be satisfied. My only issue with this front office is that they have not done a good enough job in regards to the draft and signings in Latin America.
  15. This feels to me like a Doug Melvin offseason much more than a David Stearns led franchise. The complete lack of regard for defense is shocking and quite astonishing. Are we really supposed to believe that playing Urias and Narvaez every day won't hurt us big time defensively. Both trades on the surface are fine value wise but I especially hate playing bad defensive players at shortstop and especially catcher. I still trust Stearns but these moves don't make much sense to me for a GM that usually values defense.
  16. Yeah to go along with Narvaez at catcher, Urias at shortstop, and Hiura at second. It would look like we are trying to put together the worst possible defensive team in baseball. I don't like it one bit that we are virtually punting on defense and could be below average at every position besides CF with Cain
  17. I don't think this deal moves the needle much in either direction. Narvaez can hit but the defense is atrocious. I think we really have to be concerned about the up the middle defense besides the Gold Glover Cain in CF. Narvaez, Urias, and Hiura have to make this one of the worst teams defensively up the middle. I honestly can't believe we have people clamoring for JD Davis for third base which would further weaken what looks like a terrible defensive club. With this average at best pitching staff we should't be looking to be below average or worse at catcher, shortstop, and second base. Certainly Stearns has earned our trust but this defense is potentially going to be terrible especially if we acquire Davis or McNeil to play third and put Braun at first. I don't understand why we are willingly pretty much ignoring defense especially at key positions like catcher and shortstop.
  18. Still haven't seen a proposal that interests me at all. McNeil is a good hitter but is pretty bad defensively and Dominic Smith is a run of the mill first baseman. Unless we are offered an elite prospect like Lux in a deal we shouldn't move Hader. Im not interested in a quantity of mediocre talent for the best reliever in baseball. If offers like the ones proposed here involving the two New York teams are the best we can get forget it altogether. If half a season of Chapman brought back Gleybor Torres we shouldn't settle for guys like McNeil or Andujar as the main piece for Hader who comes with 4 years of control.
  19. The focus is always on the pitching yet our offense wasn't all that good last season. If we go into next season without Moustakas, Grandal, and Thames we may very well be a terrible offensive team.
  20. This is where we are paying the price for having such a weak farm system. If we had done a better job drafting and signing players from Latin America we would probably be able to fill either the catcher or third base position from within. As we currently stand I don't see how we can rely on Shaw if we are planning on contending which I am sure we are.
  21. I totally get the why people focus on our pitching but the fact is our offense wasn't all that good with Grandal and Moustakas in the lineup. Take the two of them out along with Thames and we become a terrible offense if they aren't adequately replaced and I don't consider Shaw an adequate replacement for Moustakas and their is virtually no way to replace Grandals offense at catcher. I don't want to commit too many years to either of them but the alternative of losing both of them is not a good scenario at all.
  22. San Diego is rumored to be willing to move prospects to improve their major league team. I wonder if they would be interested in Hader and what they would be willing to give up out of their loaded farm system.
  23. As good of a player as Seager is I have no interest in him as the centerpiece of a Hader deal due to his injury history and his lack of control. Hader is under control for 4 more years so we should be looking for a guy like Lux to head the package coming our way. If we can't get elite talent with a ton of control we can just keep the best reliever in the game.
  24. If we were to move Hader we better get elite talent in return. We should have no interest in getting a pile of mediocre prospects or guys with limited control. If we cannot get a player like Lux who is a top prospect with many years of control we should just keep Hader. The sport is becoming more and more dependant on bullpens and we have the best reliever potentially available. A team like the Dodgers that continues to fall short in large part due to a bad bullpen should be willing to trade a guy like Lux to land Hader. Do you think Chicago regrets giving up what they did to rent Chapman who helped them win a championship. Of course Torres has more value than half a season of any reliever but the fact is a reliever like Hader can mean the difference between the Dodgers winning it all or losing in the playoffs year after year. I fully understand the trade value numbers analysis but sometimes a team needs to overpay to get that final piece. If any team can afford to overpay for Hader its the Dodgers who have a good farm system as well as a huge payroll to replace whoever they trade away.
  25. No way am I trading away a super elite bat in Hiura when our lineup didn't score enough as it was. We would be giving away control years and lessening the offense while adding a ton in payroll. The focus when this team was struggling was almost exclusively focused on the pitching and not nearly enough attention was spent on an underachieving offense. Hiura is a guy to try to lock up past his 6 plus years of control not a guy to trade. Story is a good player but with only two years of control and his less than stellar numbers away from Colorado he cannot be the key piece in trading away a guy like Hiura. Story strikes out a ton and would just add to this teams issues driving in runs without hitting HRs. Gray and Hoffman are both interesting guys but don't really offer more upside than Burnes and Peralta especially when you factor in the years of control we have with our guys vs the two years left to turn Gray around. This team should never take on a contract like Wade Davis and Wolters adds nothing. We need more hitters like Hiura and taking him away from this team would be a huge mistake. I understand his defense is not good but Keston is a special hitter and really the type that we should lock up past his 6 years of control. No way would I even consider a deal like this.
