  1. Too bad the trade deadline has passed and Stearns can't trade for another 10 inferior relievers.
  2. The team is imploding without Hader and I don't think its a coincidence. The players were very upset that we gave away and yes they gave the best reliever in baseball away and they have played like it.
  3. F is my grade based on not getting nearly enough for the best reliever in baseball and doing nothing for the offense. If this team makes the playoffs it will be a quick exit..
  4. Looks like a completely underwhelming return but I admit to not following the minors much at all. To not even get a top 6 prospect from San Diego is not great.
  5. Joc has been a big producer in big games so if he is healthy and the cost is low I would be all for getting him.
  6. Hiura was the teams best hitter against righties so he was slighted when he was demoted. I find it funny how much many fans hate Hiura but go out of their way defending others because they have high exit velocities on their ground balls. Again maybe Kestons numbers were unsustainable but his counting stats were very good and he should have had the opportunity to keep hitting but he isn't a veteran with 10 yrs of experience so he gets sent down while we keep three catchers.
  7. Not interested unless the price is shockingly low which I very much doubt to be the case.

  9. Or maybe the strikeouts will come down and his numbers will improve on what has been a good season for him so far. The bottom line is Hiura put up good numbers and deserved to stay in the lineup till those numbers fell and he was not given that chance. Definitely better for the team to keep a third catcher than our best hitter against right handed pitching.
  10. I guess only Mike Trout is an upgrade over McCutchen so why trade for anyone since we have such an incredible lineup and are so fortunate to have McCutchen who really should have been benched for Hiura.
  11. Keston hasn't earned it but Severino has. That is really quite the situation.
  12. Any player hitting as well as Hiura has this season deserves the opportunity to keep it up or get sent down if he can't but Keston was not given the opportunity to continue hitting .
  13. All we hear is about unsustainable his results are and if that is indeed the case Hiura will stop hitting and then he can be demoted. At some point actual results matter and Hiura was hitting as well and in most cases better than anyone in this lineup. When analytics overrides actual real life statistics it is going too far and the player in this case Hiura should either keep hitting and only be sent down when his stats go down. Meanwhile other players who aren't doing nearly as well stay in the lineup because they hit 1000 mph ground balls. This organization has shafted Hiura and I hope for his sake he gets traded somewhere and keeps crushing baseballs while we play inferior talent who don't strike out as much but has the greatest exit velocity on ground balls. Its an absolute shame that we sent down the guy who was our best hitter against righties because the analytical geniuses have decided he can't keep it up.
  14. Everyone keeps talking about the strikeout rate and how his numbers were unsustainable but Keston deserved the chance to stay in the lineup until his actual stats started to slide. Analytics are great as a tool but the fact is Hiura was hitting despite the analytics saying he shouldn't and he deserved the chance to keep putting up good numbers.
  15. Martinez is a far better hitter than McCutchen or really anyone in this lineup so if he comes cheap sign me up.
  16. Also the thought of us taking in Corbin and his awful contract is laughable.
  17. I hope Soto goes elsewhere as I don't want an Orioles decade type of rebuild as we will be facing after 2024 when Burnes, Woodruff, Soto, and Hader all leave for nothing. If there was a way to guarantee a World Series win I would do it but since there isn't I am not selling out just to be a bottom feeder in a few years. Totally get the excitement of having a player like Soto even for two years and I totally see why Stearns would do it before leaving the mess to Arnold or Luhnow who I would hire if David leaves but I've seen enough last place baseball to want to go back there again.
  18. This is a deal for a big market team that can afford to keep Soto long term and doesn't really have the dire need for cheap talent as a team like the Brewers do.
  19. The only way this would work out is if the Brewers win the World Series in the next few seasons. Sorry but I am not a believer in burning down the house for one guy even one as good as Soto is. If he had 4 years of control I might think differently but I am not in favor of seeing this team lose 110 games in a few years when Burnes, Woodruff, and Soto if we acquired him leave in free agency.
  20. Not much exit velocity on the McCutchen double
  21. This is not a high leverage pitcher and keeping him in there now is flat out stupid.
  22. Counsell is trying to completely give this game away keeping Gustave in there.
