  1. Picking up Brad Hand and resigning Swarzak sounds like a very good idea to me.
  2. If the city council doesn't okay this proposal they are crazy. There are many major league teams who want the city to fund the entire park and they are big money teams. Example is the Red Sox and what they are doing to Pawtucket, RI and threatening to move the team to Providence or elsewhere if they don't get what they want. A big win for Maryvale and very generous of the Brewers IMO.
  3. In the playoffs with the starters having a great year with Knebel the saves leader. Improvement in the bullpen. Shaw, Santana, Arcia all having another great year. Hader in the starting rotation with a great year.
  4. Hopefully Drake is next.
  5. I'd be very, very surprised if Santana were traded. He's only 25 years old, and is athletic enough to get better in the outfield. His offensive number paint him as a cornerstone-type player, and he's very inexpensive for several more seasons. Unless the Blue Jays call and are offering Marcus Stroman, I just don't see it happening. Santana and a couple of well regarded prospects for Stroman would be a very good acquisition for Milwaukee. Santana would be their DH instead of the overpaid Bautista, Stroman would move right into the rotation.
  6. Shaw, Knebel and Arcia for extensions. Santana could be a good trade chip for a starter from the American League. Santana is not a good defensive outfielder but would be a very good DH. Phillips is ready and would fit right in along with Braun and either Broxton or Brinson.
  7. Congrats to CC. Well deserved and special because it comes from voting by his peers.
  8. Agreed! This is the Positive Feelings thread, not the "go on and on about the legitimacy of the attendance number" thread. Thank you.
  9. ...you do realize that @Mass_Haas is himself a long-time poster and moderator on these boards, right? (Our Minor League Minutia Master, as it were. I'm just not used to the real name formality.) No, I didn't realize. I found it mentioned by Tom Haudricourt on his twitter feed.
  10. Every team must count seats sold in attendance figures. If someone buys a ticket and can't make the game the team can't be held responsible for every single empty seat in the stadium. If a company buys up 20 tickets for their employees and 18 want to go the team still sold 20 tickets. It's impossible for a team to keep track of every single ticket sold for every single game with a person sitting in every single seat. Makes sense to me.
  11. Jim Goulart on his twitter says that Travis' daughter will be going home tomorrow (Thurs.) 4 months after her birth. Very happy for Travis and his wife.
  12. I do have positive feelings about the 2017 season. Many happy surprises happened with players while there were some disappointing things with other players. I think Stearns is a very smart baseball executive but not perfect like the Feliz signing. But if a player doesn't perform is it entirely the GM's fault. I don't think so. But the GM has to maximize the roster in terms of available payroll and available trade chips. They were in first place for a good amount of time and almost made the postseason as the wildcard. That is something to be proud of for the team and the entire organization. This isn't a team of high priced free agents who didn't play well. There weren't any controversies in the clubhouse. No mutiny, no selfishness. Everybody rejoiced when someone hit a homer, big hit, big pitching performance. I can't wait for next spring and see what changes Stearns makes. The bullpen needs work and maybe a change at 2nd. We shall see what happens.
  13. Goodbye to Garza, Torres, Walker, Drake, Barnes, Peralta. Walker wants to see what he can do in free agency. The rest are not good enough to be a Brewer anymore.
  14. Maybe CC should have started Wilkerson yesterday. He pitched very well today in the win. Good sign for next year.
  15. The Rockies backed into the wild card with the Brewer loss and their own loss to the Dodgers. I hope the DBacks take care of them.
  16. I agree with all these points. Couldn't have said it any better.
  17. There have been so many but the one I remember recently was the game when Travis hit the walk off homer to win the game and extend their chance for the playoffs. His eyes getting wide while watching it go over the fence then the celebration in the dugout when he got there. Excitement, happiness by every member of that team. This team headed by CC is what good baseball is all about. No big egos, no selfishness, no high priced free agents who only want to slide by with little effort since their contract is guaranteed and they don't need to hustle or care about team chemistry. Stearns has some work to do to strengthen this team but the nucleus is there right now. I love this team!
  18. I'm glad. I wonder who will take a chance on him now. Stearns now has money to get a better pitcher, not wait for Garza to live up to that contract.
  19. [sarcasm]Should we hang that banner out in left at Miller Park?[/sarcasm] But any time we have a better record than those creeps it is cause for celebration. Yup, that's my optimism working overtime.
  20. [sarcasm]Should we hang that banner out in left at Miller Park?[/sarcasm] Hey!
  21. Milwaukee Brewers will still be in second place ahead of the Cardinals even if they lose again tomorrow. That is something to be proud of for the Crew. The Cards can celebrate all they want today but that is still a fact. The Crew are a better team than they are.
  22. They missed Jimmy big time. Guerra wouldn't have pitched today with a short stint and the bullpen imploding. Still, disappointing as today has been, this team exceeded expectations and for the most part did pretty well for themselves.
