  1. With little pressure and playing most of the time, some versus prospects, I'd expect about a 825 OPS from Cruz. This might well be his big break.
  2. Terrace level are sold out for the 8th, so it is possible.
  3. There's no doubt, it will ruin the season. What? Never mind.
  4. I just saw the 9th inning play again...Clemente could not have thrown out Rivas...and Hardy had no chance if the throw was right to him, Luis was well more than halfway to home. As i said in the first place, Cameron's angle was all wrong, in addition to it being too deep...he was running straight across CF to cut it off. His momentum was going right to the foul line, not towards the plate. No chance to get the runner, the throw correctly came in to hold the go ahead run at 1B. On a base hit right at Cameron, he could have charged the ball and both got his momentum going the right way and shortening his throw, like the short fly ball in the 12th. On a single in LCF, it's automatic that run scores.
  5. I think that'd be a conflict of interest, if Ryan bought the Cubs. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Hank is a smiling face to have on the group, while wealthy, he's not the money guy. And why does anyone care what Hank Aaron does?
  7. I'll take guys that can play over good guys any day. However, as stated above, it does attract free agents.
  8. The only players not put on waivers are the ones with no trade clauses, it helps disguise who you want to deal.
  9. Joe, this was discussed elsewhere, it counts as service time.
  10. With Braun, it was a combo of money and defense. The money they saved is minimal, because they gave him a long-term deal anyway.
  11. I think this year's version would win easily. Lots of those Dream Team guys are over 45, and many are probably quite out of shape.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. I just saw that in the box score myself, MSC. Good find. Considering Cam is outperforming Prince and playing a good CF, this question can be considered moot.
  13. Yes, barring injury, Cam's as good as back. He's been superb. His defense is probably top 3, his offense is #1 in the NL, and he's said to be a great guy. The only thing better than the option would be if they came to a handshake agreement for $7-8M, but it's not worth losing him over.
  14. Thank you for the correction about the option, that will certainly be exercised barring him blowing out his arm. I was unaware of that.
  15. I doubt Gamel opens '09 at 3B, as he has been terrible in AA for a couple months. As stated, this is not the time to worry about days of service, this is the time to set the team up to win...if that means having 36 guys to the opponent's 28, so be it.
  16. They will add depth at least, but allow me to say many teams will go into camp with a worse rotation than those 5. Not a lot of ceiling, but all project at 4.50 (maybe 4.75) or less.
  17. Veteran SP's cost big money, no doubt. By the way, we have no idea if Torres will be back or not, he's a FA and has hinted at retirement as recent as June or July. By the way, Scott Olsen of the Marlins is rumored to be available, as the Marlins look to keep payroll down. He's plenty young, and might be a reasonable fit, as FLA loves kids.
  18. No, there's no way he could have ever made a play on a sac fly from that deep, and Rivas had his momentum going. He did overthrow the cutoff man though...but I'll let that go.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. After running that far for the ball, no CF could have come close to Rivas...there wasn't even a play. The 3B coach never hesitated, and he scored easily standing up, not sure why you thought he should have been held.
  20. Escobar will probably be up eventually, as he can PH, PR, and perhaps most importantly, PR for JJ. Money is not an issue, so they'll probably have 35 guys at some point.
  21. Seems odd unless he's coming up 9/1. Gamel is a LH bat, and the other AA guys are not. Matt could help by PHing or by playing some 3B.
  22. No terrace reserved left for the next homestand except for 9/3. Unreal.
  23. With a runner on 1B, they play in DP position, much closer to the bag and a couple steps shallower. With no one on, they often play on the OF grass, or close to it.
  24. The fact you can compare a kid in AA to one of the top SS's in the game pretty much says it all. He's a top 10 prospect in the game right now.
