  1. Just to clarify, Mass is right, I've never seen Green play, I was making a point. Sorry to mislead. The last minor league game I saw was Beloit/Appleton in 2003.
  2. I echo John Kruk's feelings: It doesn't mean a thing.
  3. 1. Nelson could be a 5th OF. I don't see a great deal of potential more than that, maybe a platoon guy someday. 2. Not if the starters and Kapler return. I see him being dealt to a team who needs a CF, or a defensive replacement. 3. He looks very young. Still feel he's the SS by '10 at the latest. 4. Doubt it, the Melvin era has never let meaningless March stats mean much. He does have a nice swing. 5. I see him as a generic LH reliever with some upside.
  4. Actually, with the new rules, many relievers run in pretty fast.
  5. I saw him play, and I represent him, and he's good defensively...paraphrased, of course. Needless to say, that seems like a biased argument at best. X's facts seem far more reasonable and fact based. When no scouts say he's plus, only his agent, it's a tough sell.
  6. You don't use kids just to use them, you go with who gives you the best chance to win, that's why Lamb has got a couple chances, he's an experienced vet who can PH. The Kruk argument is crap, teams that are hot called up guys too, everyone does it. The day they lose a 22 inning game because they used all the pitchers and DiFelice has to go 4 and gives up a run, then you'll wonder why Pena is not up. Right now, folks are just looking for reasons to complain about a small sample, which involved many instances of line drives hit right at the defense. That's why the playoffs are a crap shoot, and why stat guys dismiss April numbers as meaningless...they are.
  7. Options do matter, as a player without options cannot be sent to the minors, even back when they were playing. Seth would never have cleared waivers, he'd move right into 15-20 rotations, as he's cheap and has a 4.50 ERA.
  8. The only way to lengthen out Seth would be to put him in the rotation, as he's out of options. Were you suggesting to go with your 6th best starter as you contend?
  9. I've seen him many times on the news over the years. Good for him.
  10. Full Tilt is regarded as a tough site, and Pacific was as loose as it gets. Those results are not strange at all.
  11. I think Yost will get an extension if they make the playoffs and not invited back if they don't. I doubt if there's much in between. Not sure about Doug. Mark A seems to be a smart guy, but he might just want a fresh opinion.
  12. I doubt Seth could go more than 50-60 pitches effectively, but I might consider skipping him when a day off rolls around.
  13. That's nice of the Brewers, as it's far from free to fly Komatsu to WV and I assume, back home. Considering they owe WV nothing, and their affiliation is over except the phone call, it's a nice touch, I assume for the players.
  14. Prince cannot see where the bunt is and then race in. If he does that, he'll not have time to get to the bunt. He also does not have the speed to charge in, stop, and beat Weeks back to the bag. On the Reyes bunt in question, Rickie was there easily, Kendall made a poor throw, and was correctly given the E. Good throw gets him easy, and Weeks is lucky he was not injured on the play. As End stated, that's the way every team makes the play. On a related note, I wonder if teams will figure out they should be bunting on the CC/Prince combo early and often, especially when CC is "on". Between their size, general disdain for defense, and CC falling off toward 3B, a hitter with speed should have success about 50% the time on a fair ball. I'm surprised no one has done it yet.
  15. I've begged for Loretta for years, but he seems happy in HOU. Lowe is on record as saying he wants to play "out East, where they get excited about baseball". He is also from the Detroit area. He'll be a tough sign. Heether might spend time in MIL, but it seems unlikely without an injury or three.

  18. The Packers play Monday?
  19. Escobar maybe. Nelson possibly if Braun or Hart get a day off and the SP is a tough righty. The best chance would be if Prince had to miss time.
  20. Losing players just keep buying in. You see it all the time live.
  21. In season exhibitions with the major league team are now not allowed, player's union thing. I could never believe it anyway.
  22. Lamb is also a utility guy, while Russ often struggles with his swing if he's not getting regular time. That said, if Counsell's back, I don't think they'd go with 2 LH reserve IF's.
  23. What's the deal with the taxi squad? I've always found that to be really strange...why not just have everyone active? Teams can still "request" certain players get more time...I mean, I cannot believe it's an intense atmosphere.
  24. Unless he impressed some team with his velocity late in the year when he was OK out of the bullpen, Gardner should return. Someone might take a flyer on Lou, especially since they can send him back through waivers and hope he clears either right away or when teams set their offseason 40's. Catching is very weak, and Lou at least doesn't embarrass himself at the plate like many C's.
