  1. Heck, being in the same clubhouse as Kendall would benefit him as well. I doubt it, but I've seen worse ideas.
  2. An average SS is a very good 2B. The position allows them to play much deeper, as their throw is much shorter. Many 2B's; Freddie Sanchez, Mark Loretta, Ronnie Belliard, and many more, are very good defensive 2B, but are very poor SS options. The Prince issue is often brought up, but fails to pass the sniff test. Weeks will never be as good as JJ defensively, and no one notices ground ball after ground ball sneaking through now. I'd say JJ could easily be a top 2B both offensively and defensively.
  3. JJ's a FA after '10, so he has only two years of arby left now.
  4. With the 40 man situation, it's unlikely, but of the lefties who pitched in the Nashville game last night, Ray King has the best numbers. HOU may want him themselves, but that'd be unique, if the Crew traded for King 2 years in a row after 9/1.
  5. Cameron's numbers with runners on base is far better than his overall ones, though they are meaningless because they are a pretty small sample. .396/.562 is pretty darn good if you ask me.
  6. Prospects are very rarely traded, and young SP's are dealt even less. A Garza/Young swap was unheard of until it was done, and I don't see another one taking place. Tough to turn down 3 cheap years and 6 years of service with Escobar. He's the guy, it would seem, we just do not when the era begins.
  7. Could be both, if Yo is moved to the 60 day...Doug in particular has not sounded like Yo will return.
  8. It is possible they'll go after a Type A since they'll get 4 picks for Ben and CC. If they do, I'm all for Lowe.
  9. Hardy's weakness, his lack of range, can be easily hidden by playing 3B or 2B. That seems like a win-win to me. JJ might be hesitant, but a long-term extension would minimize that. I like him at 2B, because his offense works better there, while at 3B, he'd just be mediocre. At some point, Alcides is going to be the SS in MIL, barring injury. Not only is his defense off-the-charts, his offense has come around this year, and he looks to be far from a punchless SS. Guys who lead their AA league in hitting at 21 do not grow up to be Adam Everett.
  10. I like Hinske's ability to play 1B/3B/LF/RF, and his OBP. However, his SLG bounces all over the place, and his career OPS is under 800. Offhand, I'd say it's really close to Weeks' career. Kapler seems certain to be back, if he wishes. Hinske would fit right in along with Gabe, so I'd be fine with him as depth. That said, I'd just as soon have Branyan.
  11. I read Gord's comment to mean Stocker, but Adam did not. I feel Mel makes more sense than yet another LHP of dubious merit. Parra may well end up in the 'pen if they reach the postseason. I'd trust him in the 7th inning versus a tough lefty bat...the others not so much.
  12. I believe the JS added last night to the 2007 number.
  13. My old roomie coached CC, they ran, a lot. They'd do 3 miles, then 5, then 3, then take a day and work on sprints and such.
  14. Is that because they are helping her so much, or because you like them? They seem to unable to figure out anything, or at least, expect any of the continued problems. Has she been on any message boards? It seems to me she may have something that they are treating the symptoms but not the true cause.
  15. Avoid any and all lawsuits if you possibly can. I'd concentrate on finding a doctor who can help and go from there, maybe get some recs from others or those in the know. She's probably got some immune issues. I might start from there. Best of luck.
  16. On my street, kids play in the pitch dark 'til 10:30 in the Summer. It is a cul-de-sac, but we hear the yelling and just shake our heads.
  17. Lowe has had a pair of poor outings this year, and both came on the road, his ERA drops 1.5 runs without those in there. Nothing long-term, just bad games. His HR numbers are almost even road and home the past 2 years, and he gave up many more at home a few years back. I like Lowe because it often takes 3 hits to score. However, looking at his stats, there's no way he's not a Type A.
  18. Boston has sold out all year, and has a streak of over 100 total.
  19. Dillard and Stetter both look to have futures, albeit in middle relief. I'm giddy with that.
  20. For one year of Roberts? BAL would love to get a guy under contract for several years. Weeks' numbers are pretty much equal, if memory serves, though I assume BR's defense is better.
  21. I would not call them a back of the rotation starter at all, more like a solid SP who could break through and have a year like a #2 would. Lowe is outstanding this season, but I'm not sure if he'll be a Type A or not. Penny has been very good, but has been injured of late, so he'll be cheaper than his production alone would have you think. Many people seem to think a #5 SP has like a 4 ERA, and nothing could be further from the truth. What did that Jeff Sackmann's study show...that most teams bottom 30 starts had a ERA of 5.75-6.50? Any SP who can put up a 5.50 ERA or less has value...obviously you don't want to pay them $5M, but you need a guy or two of that nature to be inexpensive depth...I'd say that's exactly what McClung has done. He was depth with potential, and he did very well, putting himself in a position to have a real shot at a rotation spot next year. You need at least a guy in the bullpen and/or 2-3 guys in the minors ready to step in that will outperform other teams 6th, 7th, and 8th SP's.
  22. Very few teams have 4 better starters than Bush, so thinking he's a 5th starter is just odd.
  23. The Royals have no reason to trade a young SP, and rarely does any team, unless you wish to trade Hart or maybe Hardy.
  24. For years, I collected every Robin Yount thing I could find, and never had heard of this. You'll never get 'em all.
  25. Ryan is doing very well considering his lack of experience. He'll only get better.
