  1. We have actually lost several P's due to lack of options and such this year; Capellan, Dessens, Balfour, and now Sarfate. While none have the ceiling of a Yo or Carlos, every one of them might well be effective middle men for 3-5 years. Roster management is not nearly as easy when you have both the present and the future to concern yourself with.
  2. 9/11 makes the Challenger disaster seem "minor", in my mind at least, though we know we lost heroes that day too. The difference being to me is, eventually, you're going to have an accident with space travel, that's just the way it is. 9/11 never had to happen, it just did. I have little doubt 9/11 will be talked about just like Pearl Harbor is now in 60+ years. There's no minimizing the damage, lives lost, etc, especially if you live in the 3 state New York City region, everyone knows someone who perished. My goodness, the company I worked for then even closed some stores in the eastern US, unheard of then, and since.
  3. Could be, but I've never signed into Yuku, been auto even the first time.
  4. As far as manly appearance goes, Bruce Willis looks incredible at 50something, and a ton better than he did 20 years ago. He also makes those who use hair growth product look especially foolish.
  5. It's back now, but it was not there this AM, nor last night after 8PM or so. FYI.
  6. Nope, except you just gave the Brewers a lot of money for the right to buy playoff tiks. I'm sure many will do exactly that.
  7. Why am I not able to check off forums I have read?
  8. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. It's silly stuff along those lines that make you question everything he says. Like the Crew should just let everyone go as a free agent to be nice when they have an option left...
  9. Dunn is one of the worst LF's I've ever seen, he makes Burrell look like Jenkins. There's such a thing as being limited, like Bonds is at this stage, and then there's Dunn. He probably gives up a hit every other game and a base or two as well. He allowed runners on 2B and 1B to tag on a fly ball 50 feet from the warning track today. i love his offense, but he's terrible in LF.

  11. According to the company line, his wrist is fine, but he fell into bad habits when it was bothering him a few months ago, starting his swing early, doing stuff so it did not hurt, and so on. When he is taking breaking balls in the dirt and fastballs at the letters, much like Braun, he is a monster at the plate.
  12. Trading picks would only benefit the rich teams, as no small market team wants your top pick, as most cannot afford an extra $2.5-3M in addition to their own. MLB is the only ones smart enough to know that each team needs picks to restock. It's just painful watching teams trade away their future to try and save their jobs.
  13. I recall one of my managers saying when they opened a store, they worked 12 hour shifts, and people could stay, no restrictions on hours. One lady I worked with worked 7AM one day to 9PM the next, 38 hours straight. She worked 108 hours at 2 stores in a week one Xmas as well. 68 hours of OT.
  14. If Seth had not sent me the list of games to pick, I would not even know the NFL started this week. No doubt what I'll be watching.
  15. Al, when the heck did you sleep? Wednesday and Thursday.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif That was true to a point, actually, after sleeping in 'til 12:30 or 1 on Tuesday, I actually enjoyed my "weekend". If you look at it, my sleep went up nightly, only about 2.5-3 hours Friday, but then 5 or so Sat, 5-5.5 on Sun, and so on. I also worked within a couple miles of home, so I did not need to get up much before work, just a half-hour. And, the Fri-Mon night gig was delivering pizza, an easier gig you cannot have. What really sucked is when we'd get really busy late on a Fri or Sat, and I'd get back from my last run at 4 or so and there'd be an hour plus of clean up. I stopped at Hardees for bisquits and gravy several times on my way home to bed many times. The sad thing is I used to have to "wind down" for an hour or so before going to bed, still do actually. EDIT: Anyone know why j-o-b gets edited out for you? (edit: popped in word that wasn't supposed to be filtered --1992)
  16. For an 8 month stretch in Eau Claire, I worked: Fri: 8-4, 5 or 6-4AMish Sat: 8-4, 5 or 6-4ish Sun: 10:30-5:30, 6-12:30ish Mon: 8-4, 5-1:30ish Tues: 2-9:30ish That was actually much easier than when I did 60 hours or so a week while going to school.
  17. Yeah, his dad often made excuses for his stats. Not much defending his astoundingly bad '07, however. He could still put it together, but his ceiling is pretty limited.
  18. Turkey, chicken breast or roast beef Wheat Lettuce Onions Spinach Light mayo If not watching what I eat, I will get the meatball or seafood, and add provolone.
  19. As End stated, he was gone next April anyway. How exactly folks think we are losing him and another player for Ray King is pretty much lost on me, but whatever. I'm amazed Doug thinks he has value, as I expected him to just be a minor league FA.
  20. Next Tues, then a week from Tues 9/18, 9/23, and 9/28; so no, to answer my own question, he'd still get 4 starts even by only using him as the 5th SP.
  21. I think if they skip him when they have an off day and delay his starts until 5days thereafter, he'll only start twice the rest of the way, perhaps 3. That will probably end up being the compromise.
  22. A few thousand each game, so probably about 5K for playoffs and 2K for WS...this would mean almost everyone is buying, and many are adding more if they can.
  23. Babe Ruth pretty much makes that statement look off-the-charts ridiculous.
  24. A few years ago, I put a banner on Ramblings for Dime Betting.com, and a couple people deposited, with made me a commission. Later they were bought out by 777 The rock, or something like that. I believe they were then bought out as well. I cannot seem to find which site has this gift money. Anyone have any ideas who took over "777 Rock" accounts?
  25. Laporta will go wherever, and guys like Gillespie will not factor into that. I'd be happy to let Gillespie play CF or RF, as they are tougher...didn't Cole play RF in college? I mean, it's not like I'm worried about his arm costing H-ville a run once a week.
