    The September success is not a surprise at all, as the Crew's depth is very good. Their 26th-30th best is probably among the top 5 in the game, so they have helped more. As for any other standard, .632 ball is excellent, albeit a small sample. I'm not going to base my feelings on things out of control, such as how the Cubs do.

    Abreu is a FA and not very young anymore.

    Hall in CF, and Hart in RF for '08. The only reason he is not out there for us if our depth, which is stellar (and folks have been trying to eliminate all year).

    If you are not a season ticket holder, yes you can, but it involves some deception/fibbing. PM me if you wish to know the gory details. I did it once, however, it was an actual error on the Brewers' part, through the mail for the free games this past April (if you went to the final game of the 2006 season).

    I thought Brian said last night they would be on every game the rest of the way, minus the 9/22 game Fox is carrying.

    You don't give bench players 5 year $18 million contracts. Gadzuric is in the midst of a 6y/$36M contract. All NBA players make a fortune. $3.6M for 24 minutes of decent play is par for the course, or maybe even a bargain.

    I don't think Royal Ivey is a difference maker, to say the least. He seems more like competition for Lynn Greer. As of right now, they have no backup at all for Redd, and Bell would seem to fit the #3 guard spot perfectly.

    I can't believe the Bucks won't match that small offer, so I assume he'll be back as the #3 guard.

    And yet every game, he makes several nice plays blocking balls in the dirt. His cERA is the same as Miller's, so if indeed Damian calls a better game and/or throws better (either of which, I could believe), it does not save the team any runs. I see most of this as simply being a reaction to Estrada being husky, which may or may not be related to his lingering injury (I would have to imagine if he is not running all out, he also is not working out as he normally would).

    I'd say he's right where you'd expect him, except for his IP. K rate a bit down, but he has not been 100% with his curve much of the year.

    Allow me to say Fannie Flagg was one hot panelist. Sad day for Brett, always good for a laugh.

    If anything, it shows how arcane the MLB rules are. The umpiring crew might get a "hey, pay attention", but there's nothing else that will even be considered. I'd say it's a perfect example of the sport needing to make things simpler by doing some stuff to eliminate such goofy minor crap.

    He's a massive upgrade over Sutton, but still a ways from Powell or Costas. I have to wonder if he's being fed stupid stuff from the truck, as a couple weeks ago, he also said he felt a bunt was upcoming with a man on 2B, one out, and the P up. Brian seems like a really good guy, and I appreciate his seemingly huge amount of studying, as he knows a ton about Brewers' history, even though he wasn't a fan.

    If it's cold, they close the roof. Why is difficult to understand? If they'd have left the roof open, 98% of the women would have spent the entire game complaining how cold it was.

    Even w/o the clause, the Crew's long-term contracts would be meaningless if he is dealt before it is halfway up. 2009 at the earliest.

    We still have Gross and Gwynn. Patterson will cost 10x more than either.

    I'm sure he meant it as a backhanded slap on the way out, but he really does not have to worry about what the Crew thinks, so at least he did not insult HOU. McClung pretty much did the same thing today as well. It's par for the course.

    Could the Cubs lose 4 of 6? Yep. Could the Cards win 5 of 6? Yep. They'd be 2 out with a week and a half left if that happened, so they are not out of it. However, they are certainly not favored at this second.

    I used Cliff Notes for my Poli Sci 300 level Plato class and got a B+. The professor said I "had a good grasp of the material". That was such a hard class, often, the professor would say, "Well, I think he meant this."

    They win at AAA because they have good prospects and Doug does a fine job at bringing in AAA veterans, guys like Dillon, Dickey, and so on. When they don't win at that level, it's because guys have come up early and/or the vets have not performed. We're not talking rocket science here. Ben H sucked for much of his tenure at N-ville, and he still started every 5th day, because that's what the organization told him to do.

    We lived in Woodbury, MN then, and planes were always flying over us either landing or taking off, depending on the wind. That night, about 2:30AM, I took the dog out for a walk, and you could hear one lone fighter, but it was very difficult to see in a sky full of stars. I had to look for 2-3 minutes before I finally found it, and I do not know how high they fly, but it was a tiny light, much smaller than most stars. I also recall Pete Jennings saying he was turning it over to someone, maybe Ted Koppel, about 12 or 1AM, and they spoke briefly, and then Pete just stood up on air, his mike box still on and looked very strange. It was unprofessional kind of, but that was not the first thing on anyone's mind. About that same time, they showed a "new" video shot from a tourist on the street, that showed plane #2 hitting WTC, from street level, probably no more than 2 blocks away. The guys on TV were stunned how it looked, and showed it again...and then never mentioned it again. Obviously, someone in gov't or the military asked for it and that was that. To this day, I've never seen it, other than those two times. Finally, they talked to a high ranking retired military man 2 days later on the radio, on my way to work. They asked him what he thought about things, and what he had seen discussed and talked about and bandied about in "war games" scenarios, and he paused for about 10 seconds and finally responded this was worse than anything. He said he had never imagined or even thought about fighter planes circling major US cities, and that was the case at that second.
