  1. Neither Gwynn nor Gross could come back unless someone was DL'd. They may wait to see if they get Linebrink's exception or not before announcing a move tomorrow.
  2. They acted stupidly and then profited from it. I guess that's capitalism. Sadly, they are not a US company, so any recourse is limited.
  3. He hits lefties, and used to be able to play CF, but he's been injured some.
  4. I sure do not see much downside in financials right now. Huge profits, but many are scared of the impact of possible rising rates and housing. Many banks have little or no money in mortgages, and the entire sector looks strong.
  5. The comp picks are based on 2006-7, so 80% of it is in...very unlikely he's not an A.
  6. The Pirates often do this, a couple years ago, they added Burnitz and Hernandez, when they should have been rebuilding. I don't get it at all, they have some nice young talent on that team, especially pitchers...the only thing I can say is they want an "innings eater" but doubt they can sign one in the FA market, but that's only if Morris is signed for another year or two.
  7. DH, even in his short time with MIL last year, he showed a huge breaking slider, unhittable if the batter swung, almost always in the dirt. It's a fine pitch, but I don't think he throws it in the zone often.
  8. He's not a "prospect", he's a decent minor league player. 1B/OF need to rake to be prospects, and unless he moves to C, he's a rather weak hitter for AAA.
  9. Any trade has to have already been made, but not announced. Doug could keep quiet for hours, and the JS is not digging, I'm sure. However, it depends on the other team.
  10. Vargas posted a low 4 ERA not in Arizona the past few years, and has done so again this year. It makes sense to expect an ERA from 4.25-4.50 from him.
  11. They really did not have much to deal, as they have many players who they are not thinking of dealing...6 starters in the field, and a ton of pitchers. Doug is not going to deal a cog for the future; Bush, Hart, and so on, for 2 months of a rental. That would have to be a part of a future deal, like maybe Bush could go if Chad Cordero was available, but that was not going to happen today.
  12. Got mine today, just less than Danzig. Amazing how easy that was for them...almost makes you wonder why it could not have been done ages ago... For those of you not in the know, it could have been, but NT chose to grip the cash like their last breath, and hang onto it for selfish purposes. If they were the last company on the planet that had a lifesaving serum, I'd draw up a will and eat my favorite meal rather than give them a cent.
  13. Football stadiums look empty, and many seats are well aweay from the field. With a 20-25K soccer stadium, every seat is a good one, and a crowd of 15K does not make it look like a disaster.
  14. The T'Wolves were going nowhere, so it's a fine trade for them. Unless BOS goes to the finals, I see this as a loss for them.
  15. Peavey, that's called humor. It's a fact that no one uses facts, just incorrect nuggets of info. Mench has a stellar OPS versus LHP, so he needs to be replaced? What?
  16. The landlord can spray, but if they come back, I don't think it's his fault.
  17. This is a done deal, it should be in MLB news.
  18. Yet many have said Vargas would have no value. At this second, he'd be by far the best SP dealt.
  19. There are still many poker sites available, and a few casino sites as well online for Americans. There is also a "back door" option open commonly found on 2=2 and other forums.
  20. Drew is a .400/.500 guy, so he's an outstanding player. He is not hitting for much power this year, so I would say it's likely he's not 100% physically.
  21. 2 innings, starting or relieving, would be fine. I meant starting in the 7 innings or 100 pitches way would be silly.
  22. I'd be all for an MLS team in Milwaukee, and would even go to a game or two a year. However, that idea sounds rather frugal, even for Milwaukee. I'd say do it right, or don't do it. A soccer only facility would enhance the city as a magnet for tourneys and possible national team uses.
  23. Why would BOS trade a lights out reliever for an OF they don't need?
  24. Mench vs. lefties this year: .325/.350/.556 Mench vs lefties career: .307/.363/.562 Ensberg versus LHP '07: .330/.459, 789 Ensberg versus LHP career: .407/.528, 935 Morgan can be used in the same breath as Kevin, but I'd only see him as a reserve, maybe giving Prince a day off once or twice a month, as Braun hits LHP just like Mench and Ensberg. It's astounding how many people do not value the fact Mench hits LHP at a 925 clip. We need more splits like that, not fewer.
