  1. I think the team is 9-5 in the last 2 weeks, with about 8 quality starts. I hope they struggle like that all year.
  2. Palermo's is a brand that is often a store brand as well...we once bought some that were on sale, and under the store brand label was Palermo's. I truly thought I liked every frozen pizza, until I tried Orv's. Horrible.
  3. It is huge for a non-closer, and 2.5 more years for a 35 year-old is forever.
  4. Roma's are ok, but I eat them because they are so low in calories...less than 800 in the whole thing!
  5. I'm not sure how much they "digest", Jason. I've read many times that almost all the top eaters "take care of" some of their gluttony within 30-60 minutes of the contest. If they don't, ouch.
  6. Negro League Museum, Truman Library, and a rib place on every corner. Royals and a MLS team as well.
  7. Walker just signed a huge long-term deal. He's not coming to MIL.
  8. Find me a team with 12 pitchers better than Spurling, that's a heckuva staff. It's really a silly argument, he's pitched nicely, and has a sub 3 ERA. If you put him on waivers tomorrow, he'd probably be claimed by 10-15 teams. He has value, and is inexpensive.
  9. It's like trying to throw out a runner tagging from 3B on a fly ball to the warning track...you don't have much of a chance. The 1B plays deep to cut off a base hit, so he's not holding the runner. The 2B/SS have to play closer to 2B so they can get there in time, so they do not cover nearly as much ground either. It simply makes no sense to concern yourself with a meaningless runner...if you held the runner on, they would not run.
  10. Playoff teams usually have 3-4 pitchers that are pretty plain, if not worse than that. Look at Boston's staff, or anyone's, and you'll find plenty of pitchers with far worse numbers than Spurling.
  11. Never mind. Those guys are eating machines. I did not think anyone could eat faster than my dog...I was wrong.
  12. I could see him used in the 6th and 7th versus a lefty or two. I don't see him being used instead of a lefty that could be acquired. Maybe if they are unable to find another lefty.
  13. I'd also bet under, I think 59.5 is the record, and it's doubtful they'll hit that.
  14. I doubt if Sarfate has much more than throw-in (Krynzel) value right now. With a 2ish WHIP and no options, he's not much more than a minor league FA with plus velocity right now.
  15. They will not be in the tryout mode in September. Parra, if up at all, is unlikely to be used as a late inning guy.
  16. I doubt if Doug is looking for "nuggets" right now, but he'd be happy to add one as part of a package or over the winter. Sarfate for Orvella might be a good idea, as both seem to have hit a wall. And no, I don't think any MLB player, especially performing nicely, should be called "crap".
  17. Orv's is the only frozen pizza I have ever had that I did not enjoy. The crust was awful.
  18. Dave Pinto showed a study years ago that said all but like 20 players in history hit within 5% of their expected total in "clutch" situations...Mickey Tettleton was one of the best, if memory serves.
  19. The one constant is that a very good team bats a lot less than others...if they win most home games, those missing innings add up. Because of that minor glitch, you'll see most of them outperform their "expected" win total.
  20. Carpenter might have just thrown fastballs if he's a few starts away from returning. Not to mention, his level of concern was minute compared to staying healthy and hoping not to feel anything "pop".
  21. Danzig, where I come from, $33-40M is classified as "a fortune". He'll be well paid and expected to play 32-36 minutes a game for someone...I'd say he's got it made, short-term and long-term.
  22. Some #1 picks never make the bigs. And Weeks is still just 24. Considering he's at last year's pace and is nowhere near 100%, I'd say he's having a fine campaign.
  23. I would like him as a 4th OF type, like Lofton, but he will be worth a lot more than Lofton. That's why I'd focus on Kenny.
  24. TEX has no interest in getting older. They would be looking for kids or young talent. Gross would be as old it they would have a use for.
  25. I don't see Griffey as improvement over Jenkins at all. While he may well outproduce him when healthy, he is bound to miss time and also be hobbled some games, hurting his offense and defense.
