  1. I had no idea BB did discounts. Never asked.
  2. Closer to 8th than 4th, so I am not too worried. A playoff series against a beatable team (not CLE/ORL) is plenty good enough for me.
  3. Who knows, maybe he was working on his change-up. If he's healthy, he'll be fine. If he's not, I would hope he would have the sense to not throw in Arizona in March.
  4. How do they know that about what games will be on TV in the future? Also, how does CS.net get the BC feed? Does anyone know how CS.net works?
  5. I thought they said Friday today's game was one of 4 games all season not televised at all in the NBA, but it is on the Surfing list.
  6. I can't believe the Fenway like prices on Stub Hub for the Brewers/Twins series...$75 was the cheapest 1st level, and the upper deck by the RF foul pole was $30. If you really want to go for face, checking the Twins' site 2-3 times a day is your best bet. You might want to call and ask them what their handicapable status is...the Brewers used to hold these until an hour before the game, but have since wised up. Also, the Twins may be waiting to sell SRO, as they do not know how many to sell, as they have not played a game at TF yet.
  7. Who knows how good Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle might have been had they not "partied" so much.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif As stated, Hall has not hit RHP for several seasons. Blaming his vision, work habits, and such may be popular things to do, but the truth is probably quite simple...he's never been able to lay off low and outside breaking stuff, and the league eventually figured it out. That said, he can still play defense and hit LHP, so it is possible the Brewers gave up on him because of other factors, as they are still paying for him.
  8. In reality, many of those agreements will be rubber stamped, as they have history/tradition on their side. NO may be one of the few in the Central time zone that may be available. That said, the Brewers might just figure they are already at the bottom, and can't do any worse.
  9. 3B is as deep as any spot on the field, with Casey, Mat, and a passable Craig (or Inglett)/Adam platoon. 1B and LF depth are the spots where you have to worry, there's no replacing either without significant, 4-5 win falloff.
  10. If you just take out his bottom starts with no correlation, it would be pointless. However, he pitched hurt, had to be DL'd, and then pitched poorly at the conclusion of the season, when he bunted or just took pitches every time up. Ignoring the facts gives you weak data. If he simply would have said he was injured, which I know is rare in baseball, his numbers would have been nearly identical to his previous few years.
  11. Since I'm a contrarian, I'd take Boise just because most people would take Austin. And, Austin seems a bit cliched, and really hot.
  12. Never heard of a song like that, but it screams a person who thinks his stuff really is not very good.
  13. Never mind other stuff, I am sure Doug made a handshake deal with Trevor that would keep him from being traded unless the Crew fell out of contention. No to mention, if Doug wanted to save $7M, he just never would have signed him.
  14. Suppan doesn't need to be fixed. He had a sub 4 ERA last year, except for ther games he pitched through injury, before his DL stay and his last couple starts, when he could not swing a bat and had to bunt every PA. I see him as the same pitcher he's been for ages.
  15. No chance at Opening Day rotation, barring injuries, but there's no way a LHP with his talent clears waivers. Very likely to be in the 'pen.
  16. I did not see that all teams played the extra 30 games, but with the playoffs going on, the others are more like exhibitions. Plus, if they are not scheduled 'til a few weeks before, no one will attend.
  17. I'd much rather go to the Tuesday/Wed games anyway. I do not see the appeal game #1 enjoys when there's 80 more to follow.
  18. Financially, it is an impossibility to go down to 132 games. The details are moot.
  19. Little doubt this is the wave of the future, much like hotels and airlines, an empty seat is a wasted seat. Also, SF has said they will raise and lower prices based on weather, SP, and so on when the game gets close.
  20. Our local station started 3-4 weeks ago as well. No Fri-Sun games, or day games, but can't complain, it's free.
  21. 5th would be dandy, as it takes a real optimist to think they could beat CLE, ORL, or BOS. However, as they showed the other night, they can play with ATL.
  22. I believe almost all the Diamond Box are season tickets, so they can give discounts readily.
  23. I'd say it's worth it if you can throw $50 away and not notice it. It's one of those, "if you have to ask", then the answer is no, you can't afford it. No offense, as I only sit in the lower three levels if I get 'em 50% off.
  24. Robert summed up their issues well, though as shorthand, allow me to say Stuart Scott. If I want to hear babble like that, I'll invite the slow kids in my son's 2nd grade class over for an evening. What ails ESPN is the same thing that was wrong with CNN, and remains wrong with them...they suck. They would prefer telling a biased viewpoint because that's good for them...and the complete lack of real competition allows them to do so. There's a reason CNN is now at the bottom of the cable news ratings, as all the other networks suck far less. I have little doubt if Versus or FSN would offer similar, highly promoted sports fare, they'd cut into the Sportscenter ratings...but that would take years and continued money spent on marketing and quality. It costs a lot to take on Goliath, and at present, no one has the guts to do so.
