  1. Further complicating matters is that metro Atlanta has more stringent environmental requirements than other areas, meaning gas from other cities can't be brought in because it doesn't meet the city's smog requirements. Supply is a bit low because of Ike, and GA has precise requirements, so replacing it involves, literally, making a "special batch".
  2. Rolen is below average for a 3B the past 2 years. That would seem to indicate his prime is past. Add that to his injury prone-ness, he still would only be a good pickup if TOR or SL paid much of his salary. Why does a MLB team care what a casual fan thinks...they'll only show up if the team wins. Overbay is a below average 1B, and as I pointed out, is not much better than a free talent guy like Scott Hatteberg, and far more expensive. He's several wins behind Prince, even giving Lyle credit for defense. 2 years of Halladay is worth 3 years of Prince? Possibly, but when you add 6 or 6.5 years of a phenom like Escobar to the mix, I just don't see it.
  3. It matters because the TR's are not a charity, they are a business, with the intention of making money, so that they can stay in business. Even a crowd of 1500 costs them $7500 plus concessions and parking. If the Brewers pay them $10-15K to host the game, I'm sure they'll be thrilled, but that has to be worked out. Beloit drew rather poorly, so was probably much more willing to give up a game.
  4. Rolen had close to negative value last year, as he was dealt for a problem in Glaus. Overbay is a good stop gap, but not much better than a FA pickup like Hatteberg, and much spendier. Hence, Prince and Alcides for Halladay...I like getting pre-FA guys if I'm trading pre-FA guys. That deal would add payroll, add age (which makes the team more injury prone), and as RCB pointed out, rest almost entirely on the arm of a guy who is very good, but has thrown 700 innings since 2006, and ain't getting any younger. I'd much rather focus on adding guys like Ian Snell and Adam LaRoche if trades of the core are made.
  5. McClung has a lower ERA than Bush, and quite possibly, saved the team once for sure, and maybe twice this year. I wish we had a few more awful pitchers like him. By the way, if CC says he can go, the "lawsuit" thing is ridiculous. I'd take CC at 80% happily. Save him for a game that is unlikely to be played? I don't see that as a real popular strategy.
  6. Considering Appleton would lose a home game, that seems doubtful...unless they can do an April game there and take a share of concessions. I actually got an e-mail that said it'd be announced Monday or Tuesday last week, but was told not to publicize it. Now that I've proven I'm trustworthy, benefits for me!!!
  7. Prince and JJ for Cain is about as crazy as I've heard. The time to get Santana was last year, before he broke out. Now, I don't see it.
  8. It does seem odd he looks like he can run like heck and field fine (though he looked a bit stiff on the liner Thursday), but is having trouble swinging. However, when you consider he hurt himself on a swing, I suppose it makes more sense.
  9. Bush CC Soup Sheets McClung CC That's how I'd picture it, as of this second. Bush would be penciled in for a playoff.
  10. No one seems to remember Hardy is a bit more fragile than most young players. He missed a lot of time with an ankle injury, and still has been given lots of time off because of a sore shoulder. For a young man, those nicks and bruises will only get worse as he ages. That said, I have no problem paying JJ long-term and then moving him to another spot. SS's are important, but so are all 8 offensive spots.
  11. I would agree they'll give a regular or two a day off each day...they'll probably limit their starters to 90-100 pitches as well.
  12. Most of the problems supposedly stemmed from people "topping off the tank", who did not even need gas, and people filling extra cans and containers full of gas in addition to their car. The gas has not been used, it's sitting in garages and in cars.
  13. I don't see them dealing over one of the "core". Hall will go to someone who needs a SS, but as for the others, I don't see a lot of movement.
  14. Pathetic self-fulfilling prophecy. I assume fueled (no pun intended) by Ike.
  15. Especially for pitchers, numbers are not very important...they may had their deliveries altered, worked on their breaking stuff, and so on.
  16. Good for BA. If only he wasn't saddled with BS, we'd have excellent radio and TV teams.
  17. Appleton. If he is behind as a C, maybe they'll only have him catch a couple times a week and DH the rest of the time...but I think they'd much rather have him get an extra 200 AB's than work out in the hot sun.
  18. Heck, I'd be happy with Clinton, as they play in Appleton each year.
  19. And still, 90% of Brewers' fans could not tell you what state H-ville is in. Or Brevard County.
  20. Isn't he several years older? College guys should dominate rookie ball, as they are often men among boys...literally. Cutter sure looks to be a stud. Looking forward to seeing him to in Appleton.
  21. Since none of them are credit unions, I'd say you're out of luck. I suppose I'd go with US or Chase, just because they are huge and all over, but I doubt there's much difference. I'd likely go with the one closest to my office.
  22. Every time I see Nelson at the plate, I think Prince is there. He could play OF, but I would have to agree he'd really have to hit. That said, the bat plays, and Brad is supposedly faster than many. I suppose if Jack cust can play LF/RF, Brad can to...he just has to hit like Jack.
  23. BCR, that's because the Mets might win their division.
  24. Rachael is 40, and for her age, she's mega-hot.
  25. Yep, never sign for more than 2 years. Promises are made to be broken.
