  1. And there are people, not you, who only hate on the managers and have all the answers. They don't post on message boards until the team struggles and they want to fire the entire coaching staff, dfa half the team, and take over themselves from the comfort of their own basement.
  2. Agreed. Jennings threw one breaking ball and it almost went to the backstop. BS if you ask me.
  3. It's an absolute most win. If we don't win, there is no way the Brewers can make the playoffs.
  4. In other words, the John Schneider Seattle/GB dilemma. First contract gave him an out clause but his extension did not. Pretty close. The only difference is Seattle's run seems over. The Brewers seem to be reaching their peak.
  5. (Sorry if this is off-topic) If you were a GM and had the choice would you: A) Build a team up (White Sox for example) and see how everything unfolds. 10+ years as GM for that team. B) The pieces of your rebuild are showing up to your major league team, but your favorite team's GM position is open. You choose to become the GM of your favorite team.
  6. Haha this is so true. He's the guy that is at every high school reunion talking about how awesome he was at baseball, even though he was the equipment manager.
  7. Maybe saving Woodruff as the extra man for the double header? That would be my guess. He'll be called up to be the 26th man for the double header.
  8. Manny will refuse to play SS and refuse to shave his goatee. It will be a no go for the facial-hair less Yankees
  9. All of Ray's numbers are amazing except for that 27% K rate. If that k rate was around 20%, he would be up there with Keston hype IMO. 43 XBHs and 13% BB rate is incredibly encouraging.
  10. This was a "rumor" from Jim Bowden. Seemed to have been shot down relatively quickly. This proposal is not a thing.
  11. I would absolutely be fielding offers. Heck, Brad Miller has a higher war than Harper this year. I don't think there is any chance of him being traded off though. If you trade him, you have a slim chance of resigning him. The Braves and Phillies have not been in this position of playing meaningful games either. Kind of feels like the Brewers/Cubs of last year. Seems like the Nats are a 8 of 10 or 12 of 14 away from being at the top of the division.
  12. Agreed with your thoughts on Stearns. He has his value in mind, and there seems to be little wavering from his value in players. I doubt there will be any bidding war for Machado. If it works it works, if not on to the next deal. Between him and Matt Arnold, they know how run a small market team and keep is sustainable. -There is always a time to overpay. I don't consider this to be a time for that. The Brewers are beginning to see the fruits of a top end minor league system, and they are adding more talent to an already good team (aka - there is no window for this team). If we were in a situation of having Cain, Moustakas, Hosmer, etc. with expiring contracts, that's when I would stockpile and try to make one last run. Thankfully, the Brewers wont be in a position of desperation like that for a while.
  13. IMO, it all boils down to winning the division for the Yankees. They could easily have the second best record in baseball, and be stuck playing a 1 game playoff. If you can move the needle and upgrade any position, they will do it. Also, having him as a rental may make it easier for Manny to resign with them the next year (kind of like Paul George with the Thunder).
  14. Absolutely love this team. Never thought I'd see the day where the Brewers are top of the NL and bringing up such promising players. There is no "2 year window" with this team. Here's to a fun ride. Thank you David Stearns.
  15. I guess, according to the comments about Rosenthal's article on The Athletic, Baltimore wants Burnes in the deal.
  16. If all you ask of them is 5 innings if they aren't on their game or we aren't out to an 8-1 lead, I think they can probably keep it up. They're only facing the order twice unless we have a reason to keep them going. Exactly my thoughts. Our bullpen is good enough to go 4-5 innings a game (especially in the playoffs). I still think Houser needs to be in the Majors full time, and who knows what (if he's around) Burnes brings to the table. If the starting rotation can go 5 innings and give up 0-2 runs, this team is sitting pretty.
  17. I have been wondering this same thing recently. I think what he is doing is relatively sustainable. The dude is massive, so he will get his HRs. He has a great approach and is willing to take the ball to the opposite field. He will strike out and walk a fair amount as well. I think a .280 .330 .510 (give or take) is reasonable to expect from him in the future.
  18. Getting a clean inning out of Zagurski is a blessing. Trying to stretch two out of him is stupid.
  19. That would be the most logical guess. I would imagine Woodruff and Burnes would be called up before Wilkerson if it wasn't such short-term notice.
  20. Milwaukee Brewers @Brewers LHP Brent Suter has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with left forearm tightness, retroactive to July 3. RHP Aaron Wilkerson has been recalled from Triple-A @skysox and will start tomorrow against Atlanta.
  21. Awesome to see Demi starting off A+ red hot. Really intriguing prospect.
  22. Hanging a 2008 Wild Card banner is akin to the Bucks hanging their hats on all the 6-8 seeds they've accumulated. When you haven't made the playoffs in 25 years or whatever it was, you become desperate. Making the playoffs was like winning the World Series at the time. Not saying it's right to celebrate a WC appearance, but you have to start somewhere. The Bucks are almost annually stuck in the purgatory of the NBA.
