  1. What a great win. Thrilled with the development of Love. I was irritated last night with the narrative of the two qbs. The second TD pass to Watson was a great catch, but if it had been Mahomes, Collinsworth would have said, "Mahomes put it in the only place the receiver could have caught it." It was a great pass by Love. MVS had a crossing route where he had to fall backwards and sit down to catch the ball, and instead of saying it was a bad pass, Collinsworth indeed said Mahomes put it where only MVS could catch it. The shovel pass? It would have hit the running back in the ear hole, but it wasn't a bad pass according to Collinsworth, just a great play by the GB Dlineman. The seam route with MVS where Mahomes threw inside, and MVS went outside? MVS' fault. And the comparison of Favre/Rodgers/Love throwing with feet off the ground was such a reach. And if they can do a frame by frame replay of the Pacheco fumble/non-fumble to overturn the call on the field, can't they at least look at the bs late hit call on Mahomes? Just a terrible call. Thought I was watching an NBA game.
  2. I posted this during the season, but Robin Yount's .593 OPS his third year in MLB didn't exactly scream that he was a HOF candidate. Sometimes players improve.
  3. In other words, it would take the same money to sign Hoskins as it took to sign Yasmani Grandal 5 seasons ago. Count me in.
  4. Packers are 2-0 this season with Mercury in retrograde. The Tampa, Carolina and Minnesota games (games 14-16) will also have Mercury in retrograde. If they go 3-0, you may be onto something. If they get a Thanksgiving game next year, it will be another opportunity for a retrograde win. Suck it, FanDuel! I got a system!
  5. I am also in the Wiemer camp. I feel like people really got down on him and said things such as "that bat will never play." It seemed out of proportion for a guy who was in his first 100 or so games as a major leaguer. Now, where I also feel out of step is that I don't see why everyone is so high on Garrett Mitchell. I am willing to be convinced. But any argument has to somehow assure me first that his injury problems are behind him.
  6. And maybe I can get a jersey that won't be out of date almost immediately. Anyone want a Luke Voit home jersey? Never worn, comes already unbuttoned. I'll throw in a gold chain.
  7. The Mets message board thread would have been 8 pages, but since Attanasio is cheap, we only get 4 pages.
  8. Not to mention that the hiccups will probably put Garrett Mitchell on the IL for two months.
  9. I loved the Colin Rea deal
  10. Burnes should develop some "forearm soreness" or an "oblique strain" and not pitch until August. Have a good string of starts, and avoid what happened to Woodruff. He just needs to "survive til '25!"
  11. I’m worried the Cubs will spend a lot of money like they did with Jason Heyward and Kosuke Fukudome. Maybe they can find the next Tyler Chatwood!
  12. I’d put you more in the anti-fascist category, which is a good place to be.
  13. I thought that if the Brewers tendered him, that meant they were on the hook for his arb salary. The most you can reduce a salary in arb is 20%, right? That means they would have needed to pay him a minimum of 8 million for next year. Not sure he would have accepted 2/12. And I am sure that the decision to non-tender didn’t happen without SOME discussion between woodruff and Arnold.
  14. I’m curious. . For those who see this as evidence that MA is cheap, or a bad owner, or, gaslighting the fans: Is there a break-even point for admitting that the team made the right decision on Woodruff? If he never pitches again? If he pitches in 2026? or to ask another way, how many years would you have signed Woodruff for? 1? That money is lit on fire and gone. 2? 3? What would have made you say, “Damn, nice work, MA?”
  15. I’m both sad that it ended this way, because I really enjoyed watching Woody pitch, and completely understand letting him go. It’s possible the Brewers have gotten a lot of medical advice on the viability of Woodruff ever throwing as hard again.
  16. I just texted my Bengal-fan friend that sports fandom has such a high percentage of misery. I think I will just become a front-running bandwagoner. I have some disposable income, I can get a jersey, hat, bobblehead of whichever team is hot. Even switch teams at halftime. Why not?
  17. Funny how being injured for two years ends up on the “encouraging “ side of the ledger.
  18. More like Oliver “playoff hopes are” Dunn, right?
  19. I can't say yes. I think he has shown what he is, and while any pitcher can go at any time, I don't trust him to stay healthy. 2020 was the last season he didn't miss significant time.
  20. And to add to that, Counsell never pitched, so there is no way he could manage a bullpen, right?
  21. I thought the last thing you wanted was Mattingly. I believe you typed: If this team hires Mattingly it will be due to Attanasio meddling so he could bring in a guy that he enjoyed watching as a player since he grew up a yankees fan. Out of all the names listed so far he is far and away the one that I want to avoid at all costs.
  22. Without any rationale to back it up, I wanted a new face in there. Maybe he was the brains behind the whole operation the whole time! I imagine in my disgruntlement over CC's departure, I could have picked apart any hire. My first snarky thought was, "what, Pat Corrales wasn't available? Frank Lucchesi? Larry Bowa? Bobby Valentine? Lee Elia would have been a good choice. <Insert old grumpy-looking guy name>?"
  23. You have the powder blue tux in your profile pic, and try to tell us you aren't old enough to remember those teams? Color me skeptical. LOL. I would have bet my powder blue leisure suit that we were a similar age.
  24. Why can't the Brewers have next year's Corbin Carroll? or Steven Kwan? A 5-WAR rookie can happen, and that would go a long way to helping this team compete. And I agree with the earlier comment that it's sad that our production at 1B has been so bad that we dream of an average guy there. Maybe Greg Brock is still available. Dude had 5.1 WAR in five seasons with Milwaukee. Imagine!!!!
