  1. I mean Capra has a sub .300 OPS! They have to DFA him, and if their organization doesn’t have a corner infielder who can put up better than a .300 OPS in the majors, then that’s on Matt Arnold and Co.
  2. Wow. Capra in the 9th? Jesus. Might as well sent up a pitcher to hit
  3. Year after year, why are the Brewwrs the worst team in MLB scoring runs from 3rd with less than 2 outs?
  4. RIP Bob Uecker. The bozos in the booth now are nearly unlistenable. from the best radio broadcast to the worst in a blink of an eye.
  5. The only real criticism of the Cubs is after Imanaga their rotation is ordinary and depth is thin. Do they have the horses in their system to be able to trade for different making starting picthers come July?
  6. Their VP of Baseball Operations, Jed Hoyer, has his job on the line. His contract ends after 2025 and has had forgettable results since taking over after Theo (and previously in San Diego). Counsell is likely safe no matter what due to the size of his contract, but it’s never a good thing when the GM who brought you in is let go and you’re still there. There isn’t a “decision” with Kyle Tucker he will test free agency and would be a fool not to in a climate where the elite young players are getting half billion dollar guarantees. So there’s pressure for them to make sure it was worth acquiring him. Yes.
  7. It’s still April but scoring 5 runs early and the pitching staff can’t hold it, isn’t a good sign.
  8. Doesn’t matter now. Leaky bullpen = crappy team
  9. After years of bullpen excellence it’s basically Koenig as the only reliable arm out there. Maybe Mears
  10. After these 2 games they will have played their entire slate of games for the season against the Dodgers
  11. Smith faced the Red Sox for second time and put out somewhat of a clunker: Went 4 2/3, 3 hits, hit 3 batters, walked one and gave up a 3 run homer.
  12. Who is reliable in this bullpen outside of Koenig?
  13. Just to play devil’s advocate with you. McMahon is owed nearly $50 million dollars between now and when his contract is up. How much of that would the Rockies have to eat to get into the Brewers’ price range? 20 million, 25 million. If they’re eating that much cash they would almost certainly expect a blue chip prospect in exchange. That is reason enough it would never happen. Plus he has significant home and away splits, where the road stays really aren’t an upgrade. So there’s no real reason for the Brewers to want to acquire McMahon
  14. Hader pitching in Colorado Springs in 2017 vs. Misiorowski’s career minor league numbers? Ok.
  15. In AAA! There isn’t a Kyle Tucker, Arenado, Bryan Reynolds, Freddie Freeman, et al. in AAA. Those type of batters won’t be fooled as easily as AAA batters and will punish mistakes more. Until Misiorowski can consistently command his stuff there’s no reason to even consider him. As for Dunn, the Brewers gave him two bites at the apple in the majors and he didn’t seize the opportunity. Since the did trade for him intuition says he will likely get another shot but he is likely the 40th man on the roster (maybe 38 or 39 depending on views of Thomas and Capra) so there is some urgency for him to go to AAA and perform.
  16. With Woodruff already on a 30 day rehab assignment; by Mother’s Day they should have Peralta, Quintana, Priester, Woodruff and Myers. I’d be more interested to see who goes to the pen or minors if/when Civale and Cortes are healthy
  17. Sometimes you gamble and lose. The Cardinals looked like geniuses when they plucked Mikolas from Japan in ‘18 on a modest two year deal. The first extension was a wash, Mikolas was effective when he pitched but missed all of coivd-ball in ‘20 then most of ‘21 with an arm injury. They should’ve known to walk away but pressed their luck with a second extension for Mikolas covering’23-‘25. Since then, Mikolas has an era over 5 and has lost more games than he won. The only real value he brings is taking the ball every fifth day and going 5+ innings.
  18. There’s the problem with drawing conclusions after just a couple weeks of games. Hoskins has a good series against the Tigers (6 for 10 with 2 homeruns) and suddenly the Big Fella has got a .753 OPS
  19. He’s on a hot streak at the moment. His batting average on balls in play so far in ‘25 is .390. But even if marginal improvement to say .270 with 30 2Bs, 10 HRs and 50 steals along with the defense he’d be an All Star.
  20. The Cubs optioned their 3B Matt Shaw to AAA, who believe nor not has better numbers than Dunn and Capra.
  21. I don’t know, maybe at some point if Hoskins doesn’t get it going, but there’s zero chance Hoskins moves to a platoon role by May,
  22. But also one of the softest. Maybe the pressure of New York will prove too much
  23. Hoskins is making 22 million dollars this year. At that price, he’s going to get every chance to get it going and more. It would be extremely out of character for the Brewers to do anything else. Lorenzo Cain was the every day centerfielder in 2022 till the middle of June.
  24. If your bullpen sucks, you suck. In this series the Brewers bullpen has sucked. 6 walks in 5 innings the last two games.
  25. Or perhaps the team doctors who read the first scan had inconclusive opinions about what they saw and they want a specialist to look at it for more decisive opinions
