  1. This is all scheme. That said, I don't think Coan is any good either.
  2. Tomorrow he'll be a golfer. The next day it'll be professional pool player. He's 4 LOL
  3. The stupidity of people never ceases to absolutely amaze me. I hope you can eventually find what you need for your horses.
  4. Agreed. For me, this game is going on mute. I'm sure this is good for some out of market fans, but as far as I'm concerned, the YouTube game of the week can just go away. If you go to the settings on YouTube, you can change the audio track to the "away" choice, which is the Brewers radio network.
  5. I just switched it on my phone with the three dots on top. Watching the game and listening to the Brewers radio broadcast now. Synced up nice too.
  6. Dafney is an H-Back type that will play some fullback and some TE. He's a solid receiver. Played quite a bit last year when they had injuries at the TE spot. They Packers traditionally keep 4 TEs, as they are typically core special teamers. The the Packers' case this year, the four they kept are not carbon copies. Tonyan is the receiving TE, while Lewis is the in-line blocker. Deguara is basically the Packers' version of Kyle Juszczyk, and will play a lot of FB along with receiver. Dafney is another one of those types. Sternberger, if they keep him when his suspension is over, is more the Tonyan type. There is no way they'll keep 5 TEs though.
  7. Clearly, that's the Brewers desired outcome. But, what I take issue with here is your attempt to categorize a draft pick as something related to the performance/expectations for Luis Urias. At best, it's a stretch. More likely, it's completely off base. The Brewers likely drafted Black because of his potential, his position on the draft board, and his signability/bonus demands relative to their remaining draft bonus pool. Trying to lump that draft pick into anything related to Urias or the current construct of the Major League is almost certainly off-base. Then again its not really my point. Rather it is Urias is a player without a home except at third base where his current offensive production and defense render him ordinary. He's blocked long-term at shortstop with Adames and he's blocked long term at second base with Wong, and even after the expiration of Wong's contract (be that in one or two years) there is the potential that there will be other players competing for the job at 2nd base. As that ties in to the larger discussion, this trade was sort of a miss for the Brewers from a strategic roster building perspective as they traded a starting outfielder plus away for an infielder plus. Then, since making the trade they've signed two starting outfielders as free agents and have acquired an entire new group of infielders. When you have good players, you find a way to get them in the lineup and on the field. And Luis Urias is a good player. Is it possible that Tyer Black may eventually be better than Urias? Certainly. But that isn't going to happen for awhile. As players such as Kike Hernandez and Ben Zobrist have shown, the ability to play multiple positions, while not necessarily holding down a set position on a regular basis, can still bring a ton of value to a team. Right now Urias is hitting .244 with 18 HRs and a .771 OPS. He just turned 24 on June 3. So what are we talking for upside as he gets into his mid to late 20s? .270-.280? 30 HRs? An OPS in the low to mid .800s? Those look like mighty fine numbers for a 3B to me, and absolutely terrific for a utility player.
  8. For all we know, Tyler Black may be this team's 3B or LF of the future. Or perhaps (maybe even more likely) he is a trade chip that the Brewers can use in the next couple seasons to fill a roster hole during this current competitive window. It wasn't all that long ago when there was some thought that the starting infield would include Jake Gatewood at 1B, Hiura at 2B, Arcia at SS and Lucas Erceg at 3B. All were high picks and/or highly rated prospects. Stuff happens.
  9. 10.5 game lead in the division with 28 left to play. Looks like another year of exciting October baseball coming soon
  10. Kind of the same here. I thought it was a bad deal after 2020, but 2021 has lessened the imbalance, but overall, still a loss. Grisham would have obviated the need to sign JBJ and Garcia. So, in essence, replacing him ran to about $22 million in payroll this season. But Urias could hold down 3B acceptably for a while, and can also play SS/2B. Kind of a wash, if you will. The Crew kind of came off second-best in the Davies/Lauer deal, though. I think Davies is a better #5 than Brett Anderson, and when you add him to the rotation, it's a durable 1-5, especially with the Brewers defense - including Grisham. Except the Padres used Davies as a piece in the Darvish salary dump deal, and the Cubs couldn't give him away at the deadline this year.
  11. Dang it Brewers ... I gotta get up in 5 hours. Would have much preferred an 8-2 game right now
  12. The Brewers devote a lot of effort into making their catchers top-notch pitch framers. I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.
  13. Brad Boxberger has been terrific this season. Kudos to the Brewers' front office on that move.
  14. Norris is pitching himself into contention for a pen spot in the postseason. Great movement on some of those pitched.
  15. When you are depending on the pen to give you 7 innings, pretty much everyone on the pen needs to be ready.
  16. On the field playing catch is something that isn’t likely to aggravate a hamstring injury, but doesn’t give any indication that Escobar will be close to returning within a week. Adam McCalvy @AdamMcCalvy · 16m The Brewers expect to reinstate Eduardo Escobar (hamstring) from the IL for Friday’s series opener against the Cardinals. He went through a hard workout today and came out of it fine.
  17. You mean the Reds are maybe not the juggernaut they were purported to be only a few weeks ago by some? Well, knock me over with the feather!
  18. I know there was a serious cap crunch and all, but I just can't believe that the plan for 2021 is Lancaster/Lowry at DE again. I just can't. Have to believe that Keke has passed Lancaster on the depth chart even when Lancaster is healthy.
  19. The true Brewers' #19 LOL
  20. Exactly. I think he’s on the PS because he was the 7th best receiver on their camp roster. EQ is a substantially more talented WR than Taylor. But Taylor is a better special teams player, and when you are at the bottom of the depth chart, you need to excel on special teams. I'm happy that St. Brown is still around. The guy looks like he was designed in lab as a prototype NFL WR. He just hasn't been able to stay on the field on a consistent basis.
