  1. While as a homer Brewers fan I personally hope all four of those guys flame out, odds are at least one will turn out ok. But it won't be for awhile. The Cubs, it appears, are going into a rebuild, which just so happens to coincide with the Brewers having Yelich signed to a long-term deal through his prime years, along with big talent at the top of the rotation. I don't know if the Brewers are ever going to have a better opportunity to "go for it" in a division that is making big payroll cuts. I'm not advocating making a bunch of huge expenditures, but if the Brewers can grab a couple solid corner IF bats, and a couple solid additions to the rotation and pen, they are primed to be the projected top team in the division.
  2. It does seem to be a buyer's market this year with trades. If the best the Brewers can do is similar to what the Cubs got for Darvish (an average #4 starter and a bunch of lottery tickets) then I'd prefer the Brewers just hang on to Hader and go for the championship in a watered-down division.
  3. Hader for Cronenworth, Morejon, and whichever of Abrams/Capusano/Hassell you like best? A bat that plays right away, a top 100 guy, and a really interesting young arm. Cronenworth and Morejon seem a bit displaced by the moves yesterday, so it might be an opportunity to buy at the right time on them. I guess Cronenworth isnt moving off of 2B... Im guessing Kim will be utility player or play matchups to get him in the lineup. I think that is lip service. I don't see them signing Kim to that nice deal, only to use him as a utility guy.
  4. I really, really like the Cronenworth idea. He plays a bunch of positions, and is a very good defender at 2B and 1B, and can also play SS, but the Brewer could slot him in predominantly at 3B. Not a huge power bat, but with the way lefties hit at Miller Park, I think he'd be good for 25 HRs. He also is not a big strikeout guy. Also entering his age 27 season, so its his prime years and he's got a ton of cheap team control. He seems like the perfect Stearns target. I could easily see Morejon or Ryan Weathers as a second piece if Gore is unattainable.
  5. I can't tell if you are being serious, or trying to poke the bear, but it worked. I hate this idea, and it makes me mad to even think about. The Brewers aren't going to deal the guy they just signed to a "face of the franchise" type deal 9 months ago. That just isn't gonna happen. Not only does it make zero sense, it would be PR suicide for Stearns and Attanasio. I could see them dealing Hader to the Padres. I saw a lot of Cub fans saying they thought the Darvish deal would be for Gore and Cronenworth. I don't anticipate both those guys coming back for Hader, but I think one would need to be included.
  6. Also, Darvish is owed around $60 million for the next three seasons.
  7. I sure hope that the Brewers find a way to competently fill their holes this offseason, because the division is there for the taking.
  8. Turbo, you've been a Brewer fan for a really long time. I would think you'd just simply roll with it by now.
  9. all true, I meant after moose and grandal... no matter how you paint it, last year was dumpster diving. Other than Garcia, I agree. But Garcia was a big deal. No need to "paint" that. Also, it was one year. We'll see what happens. But this narrative that the roster building philosophy they used last year is now going to be "the norm" is simply not supported with enough evidence. Not yet anyway.
  10. Really? Moustakas and Grandal in 2019 were "bargain basement" signings? I'd disagree with that wholeheartedly. Even last year, which they did make several "value" deals, they also signed Garcia to a $10+ million per year deal. You have to take Garcia's poor season out of the equation, and look at the contract itself. Certainly not a huge signing, but still pretty big money.
  11. Cronenworth wouldn't be a bad piece at all for the Brewers to target as part of a package for Hader. That is assuming, of course, that he can play 3B.
  12. This team literally handed Christian Yelich the richest deal in the team's history by far roughly nine months ago.
  13. Better yet ... get the Dodgers and Padres in a bidding war for Hader. Don't know if the Padres would be willing to part with Gore or Abrams, but one of those would be my targets. If Gore didn't go in a package for Snell, he's not coming in a package for Hader..............imo Probably not, but I can dream LOL. The Padres have a ton of nice pieces, so I'm sure something could be worked out if the Padres coveted Hader. He does make a lot of sense for them as a team that is obviously "going for it" and is hurting in the pen.

  15. Wow, if that's the case ... yuck! I was hoping that next week's game wouldn't matter a whole heck of a lot, but it appears that it's going to have to be all hands on deck. Unfortunately it appears that all the NFC games that matter in the playoffs standings are being played in the 3:25 window, so the Packers won't know what they need to do beforehand.
  16. Not really. The Saints and Seahawks both winning could drop us all the way to #3. We should absolutely assume we need to beat the Bears next week. The Saints cannot finish ahead of the Packers. If they win and the Packers lose next weekend, the Packers hold the tiebreaker based in them beating the Saints back in September. The lowest the Packers can finish is #2.
  17. This game should silence many of the doubts. The Titans are no slouches. They have a very effective passing game, and perhaps the worst matchup at RB that could have been imagined for the Packers D. But while Henry has had some nice runs tonight, none have been back-breaking. This is the best game the Packers have played all season, and that's saying something.
  18. AJ Dillon is a beast. Right here, right now, is exactly why he was taken in the 2nd round. He's the perfect type of back to ice a late December game.
  19. no kidding. I am not sure what they are thinking. They are who they are. The Titans are not a come-from-behind type team. Getting up big early was huge.
  20. Jaire Alexander is such a stud. The ability to basically take away one side of the field is huge.
  21. Yep, little bit of overconfidence there. He's been able to pretty much whatever he wants tonight, so understandable. It's kinda not though. He so rarely throws picks because he just doesn't do stuff like that, even when he's lighting up the scoreboard. Certainly an uncharacteristic throw for him. I had Brett Favre flashbacks watching it. That is a throw that Favre tried often.

  23. LOL ... ball control offense and a snowy field isn't exactly prime MVS conditions.
  24. Dillon was picked with the idea of mimicking what the 49ers did in the playoffs last year with Mostert, Coleman and Brieda. This is a very good thing for the Packers playoff future. Having three backs capable of switching off in the playoffs would be huge.
  25. Yep, I'll repeat ... this type of game, in these type of weather conditions, is why Dillon is a Packer.
