  1. This is one of the reasons I think we need to take the universal view of our farm system as hot garbage (thanks Brett Anderson) with a grain of salt. I understand Burnes and Woodruff had some prospect notoriety but I think both have surpassed expectations of in terms of where their true upside resides. I'm sure the Braves would love to have Woodruff and Burnes in their rotation, rather than the hot garbage their vaunted and overly-hyped minor league system has produced.
  2. This isn't close to being correct. Not even a little bit.
  3. It's been several years since Rodgers has had a game like that. Everything he threw was spot on. Truly vintage performance today from him. Of course, he had to be licking his chops looking at the dumpster fire that makes up the Vikings' QB room. Not only did Adams school those guys, they were destroyed by the likes of Lazard and MVS (who should have had a HUGE game today) as well. Fun game to watch. Extra special for me having several friends who are rabid Viking fans.
  4. I think I remember reading somewhere that Yelich is sort of a film room junkie. Perhaps not being able to utilize the film room between at-bats this season is playing a part in his down season?
  5. Ahh, dang it. At least they got another one tomorrow. Gotta steal tomorrow's game to take 2 of 3, then on to that Cardinals gauntlet.
  6. He was at 95. I'm not sure where this idea that Hader has regularly thrown 98, but I don't think that is necessarily true. He's been sitting at 95-96 on his fastball this year, and that is pretty much where he's at. He was hitting 97 a few times last year, but it wasn't until mid-year ... 80-100 games in. His first year up he was 99/100. My wife knows nothing about baseball but loved Hader cuz he could throw 100 mph. That’s the only reason I know he threw that hard. He wasn’t that last year, and seems to lose a mph or so each year... Perhaps he overthrew a few his rookie year, but Hader has never regularly thrown that fast. The stats seem to back that up, too. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/josh-hader-623352?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb Like was mentioned earlier, the velocity isn't the issue. Really, he's been very good this year. Where he's slipped, it's been on not being able to locate.

  8. Brewers could have had Vargas for free. But we get Sogard and Jace Peterson.
  9. I had absolutely no faith that Alex Claudio would be useful this year with the 3-batter rule. I was wrong. He's been very good.
  10. We'll see how faithful the fans are to the big guy when he's batting .145 next May.
  11. I was initially hoping the Brewers could take 2 of 3 this weekend. Now splitting the next two sounds a lot more realistic. With all these games left against divisional opponents, this team 100% controls it's own destiny.
  12. Terrific outing from Woody tonight too. Really good to see that tonight after he's struggled to get past the 5th inning the last few starts. He was dominant tonight.
  13. Probably the most ridiculed acquisition of the offseason too. I don't remember that, I'd say that may belong to the nerd or Anderson. Most of them were flamed pretty good. I think the dander for the Gyorko signing built when fans realized another 3B wasn't going to be acquired.
  14. He's not throwing as hard as he used to, but his slider is way, way better than it was and he is just a better pitcher than he was. He hit 96 several times tonight. I don't think he ever threw faster than that. I remember a 97 here and there maybe last year.
  15. I wonder if a team has ever scored 19 runs, then gotten shut out in their next game? This is a year of firsts.
  16. I think Dodgers pitchers must be licking their chops at the idea of facing the Brewers' or Cubs' lineups in the playoffs.
  17. It really seems like he's trying to launch one 450 feet every time he swings. I think be has it in his head that he's a major power hitter. I mean, he's going to get his homers, but his big selling point when drafted was his ability to put the bat on the ball.
  18. So we are not allowed to question Counsell........ever? I'm about as much of a Counsell apologist as you're gonna find, and pinch hitting Sogard for Urias there peeved me.
