  1. Catcher and any of the OF spots are actually covered rather well for the Brewers in the minors. Feliciano is a good catching prospect and there are a few others in the minors that have some promising futures. As for the OF prospects they are further away as most are in the lower levels. First base and third base are the real problems but I think those can easily be solved in free agency. Justin Turner is a FA this off season and he could be a target for either 1B or 3B though he is on the older side. Profar is also a free agent this off season he could be someone to target for 3B. If a Hader trade happens we should see two really good prospects added to the team. Profar is just more of the same crap Stearns signed this year. .206/.305 this year. Career .232/.315. Besides Broxton, Taylor, and Ray they don't have an OF for at least 2-3 more years. 1B and 3B will not be easily solved in FA. Turner MAY be available, but will be on many teams' list. 1B is a big problem too. I'm going to be disappointed if we have to wait around 3 years for Garrett Mitchell to make an impact at the MLB level. He'll be 22 in a few weeks, and as an advanced college bat, he should be relatively fast tracked. I certainly hope he doesn't take the Corey Ray route.
  2. Just announced that Trey Supak and Justin Topa are coming up for tonight's game. Being a pen game, both could theoretically see some innings tonight. Especially interested in seeing Supak since he remade his body in the offseason.
  3. Oh man ... the "we're facing a RH pitcher" platoon lineup. Hasn't exactly been fear-imposing. But who knows ... let's get Craigtember started early!
  4. When you posted your "Has anyone lost confidence in Stearns" thread last year on September 6th, the Brewers playoff odds were around 8%. Yet, they still made the playoffs & almost beat the eventual World Series Champion. Right now, the Brewers playoff odds are around 51%. Interestingly, when the Brewers went on their crazy September streak following your Stearns thread last year, you didn't make a single post again until October. Must not have been very exciting. He's also MIA on In-Game Threads during any game the Brewers are playing well. One would think that if a fan is seeking excitement, they'd want to share their enthusiasm with their fellow fans when the team is playing well. I could be off base, though.
  5. Yet a game out of a playoff spot. Team can only improve, right? One can hope but some sense of direction for the franchise would be nice. TBH I was actually hoping for more moves to signal a punt on the season. Mediocrity is frustrating in any sport. Glad we stuck to our price on Hader though. What else could they really do? Phelps is probably the only guy on a short-term deal that had any value in a trade. Maybe Gyorko could have fetched a lottery ticket, but everyone else is either underperforming, or a long-term piece.
  6. Go cheer for a different team then.
  7. Yet a game out of a playoff spot. Team can only improve, right?
  8. Devin Williams was a 1st round draft back and Rasmussen was too before a physical discovered an injury. They are hardly "non-top prospects". Thus the "If." We don't know the return, but I would expect to get back pieces similar in value to how those guys were viewed at their lowest or at least low-end of their minor league value curve. Perhaps a Caden Lemons type(s), who despite being drafted high has never been a "top prospect". Anyway, it's kind of a silly discussion about semantics literally over PTBNLs. Again ... especially this year, "low-level" only means these are players that are currently in the lower levels of the minors, and not on the team's 60-man player pool. This isn't like trading for two Caden Lemons and a 15 year old from Venezuela.
  9. It is also important to remember that, at least in this case, "low-level" does not necessarily mean no talent or no-name players. The Phillies have 7 pitchers on their MLB Pipeline Top 30 prospect list that are not part of their 60-man player pool.
  10. Better to stand pat than to make bad trades. Chances are, nobody offered anything that we would've deemed worthwhile. Exactly. It's important to be able to see the forest through the trees.
  11. Given the Brewers' focus on college position prospects in the shortened draft this year, a move like this makes a ton of sense. Several arms for a guy they had very little invented in.
  12. So a proven set up man for three or four pitchers who will amount to nothing. I hate this quantity over quality crap. Stearns could've got a hundred low level pitchers in the trade, but 100 x 0 is still zero. *shakes head while rolling eyes
  13. Likely. Can be said that you can never have enough quality relievers, but with the ascension of Devin Williams, and Rasmussen looking like a keeper, they can now allocate that $4.5 million elsewhere. Not a huge fan of giving up a good pitcher for lottery tickets, but ehh, whatever I guess.
  14. Yeah, he's been very good. Given the control next year, the return should be something decent.
  15. Brewers just traded a reliever to the Phillies!!!! Phelps
  16. DBacks also got Humberto Mejia, who is a good young pitching prospect. Also a PTBL
  17. There's an hour left till the deadline. Probably best idea to hold tight for the next hour or so before you make predictions like this.
  18. That's about as close as I can get, too. Marcum was considered a solid young-ish starter, but wasn't a star, though.
  19. I think you are underestimating how good that Padres system actually is. Arias, Cantillo and Miller would all be top 5 prospects in the Brewers' system, and Arias would likely be #1. Naylor is a 23-year-old former Top 100 guy, and Quantrill is a 25-year-old former Top 100 guy. Hedges is a great defender and solid backup C.
  20. I know the Dodgers said no to Lux in a package for Lindor. However, as I asked in the Hader thread, if the Dodgers said Hader straight up for Lux, does Stearns say yes? When was the last time there was a straight-up one-for-one star for prospect deal? I don't know if I can recall one.
  21. Full deal is Clevinger, Greg Allen and PTBN to Padres; Quantrill, Arias, Cantillo, Hedges, Naylor and Miller to Indians. Arias (#7), Cantillo (#9) and Miller (#11) all top prospects in Padres loaded system. Quantrill, Hedges and Naylor all talented, young MLB players.
  22. Naylor, Quantrill and Gabriel Arias to the Indians for sure, and likely more. Arias is a stud SS prospect, Quantrill has been very good out of the pen, and Josh Naylor is a 23-year-old former stud prospect. Deal also includes LHP Joey Cantillo, who is another stud pitching prospect. Indians also get Owen Miller and Austin Hedges. WOW!
  23. I think it's just the opposite, actually. They are obviously all in on challenging the Dodgers this year. They built up the talent in their farm system exactly for this reason, and now they are emptying it.
  24. Padres just got Clevenger. Wow, they are really going all in! Wonder if the Dodgers feel any pressure to counter?
  25. Granted he was all over the place on Saturday, but he was hitting 96 on the gun. That's typically where he sits. Maybe hit 97 a few times last year, but 95-96 is his wheelhouse.
