  1. How the Brewers play this week is going to determine whether they are buyers or sellers this weekend. Go on the run, and they are likely to make an attempt to add. Scuffle, and we could see guys like Phelps, Anderson and even Hader hit the trade block.
  2. Other than yesterday, Phelps has been a stud. Nice to see at least one of Sterns's signings this offseason work out so far.
  3. I wouldn't say 'ole DJ has drastically improved the Reds pitching. Trevor Bauer would be good wherever he pitches.
  4. Gotta tell you ... watching this Reds team play like a dumpster fire is oddly satisfying after all the "OMG the Reds are gonna be contenders" talk from last winter. The Reds may be moving in the right direction, but that team was a train wreck last year, and teams don't typically go from crap to contender in one season.
  5. Good thing games don't end after 3 quarters then. He's feeling it now. Wasn't saying they did and I'm sure you know that. He obviously needs to play at the AS level he's capable of and not the way he has in this series overall if the Bucks are to advance beyond this round. Just trying to give credit where it's due. He had a very nice game 3, and hopefully following that up coming alive in the 4th quarter of this game will lead to more consistency now.

  7. Same here. I love watching pre-season games. Camp is almost exclusively optimistic stories. So...when you hear about Burks "lack of instincts" being an issue, that is a big more telling. Now that Gutes has restricted media access, I don't think the stories coming out are going to be all sunshine and rainbows. Agree with CWH, I like preseason games because that's where you get to watch the later round draft picks/UDFAs/all those guys who you were so hyped about when they drafted/signed them. Or the team's beat writers are going to have to think outside the box for a couple weeks, instead of recycling the same "projected depth chart and roster" story every few days. I'm a big Packer fan, and even I'll admit that those stories have gotten stale.
  8. Not only would Hader be the best available reliever on the market, he's also the best reliever in MLB full stop. He's also got 3 more years of control after this season, albeit more expensive control as he goes through the arbitration process. The cost is going to be high, but I think there is probably a team out there who would meet what the Brewers are asking for.
  9. Whatever the Pirates want for Adam Frazier, I'd pay it. Just to get him off the Pirates.
  10. Offense is gonna struggle as long as those guys scuffle. No one else is consistent enough to carry the offense for any sort of stretch, Braun included.
  11. The Brewers saw what the Cardinals got in Miles Mikolas, and tried to replicate that. Mikolas and Lindblom bring similar-type stuff to the mound.
  12. Lindbloom was basically billed as a solid #4-5-type starter, and that's the type of contact that he signed. He's probably good enough to keep a decent team in most games, and eat innings. He's always the type that a good team is going to be looking to replace. Hopefully he'll be beaten out for a rotation spot next spring.
  13. Not a lot of fun to watch right now. Just frustrating.
  14. Definitely no cheapy. He hasn't been great by any means, but Gyorko is starting to grow on me. At least he gives you solid at-bats, and can put a charge in one.
  15. I have a fear that Brock Holt is going to immediately sign with the Cardinals or Reds, and hit .300 with a .380 OBP the rest of the season.
  16. Is there a drug that combats insanity, because I keep reading the the same posts over and over on IGTs. The ignore hammer finally came out last night.
  17. Yeah, good thing there's another one tomorrow. Want the stench of this one around as little time as possible.
  18. Alex Claudio has looked good in every appearance he's had. Before tonight ...
  19. I don't even have a clue where we could be put to get some protection. Garcia has been a bit better, as has Hiura, but Narvaez not being able to hit his weight has been really rough. They were depending on him to be on of the better bats in the lineup.
  20. Houser has actually turned this into a solid start. The Phillies stung him on some consecutive weak contact base hits, but otherwise he's been good. Still ... doesn't matter much when the offense can't score more than a run.
