  1. Jasson Dominguez is 17 years old. I get that he's a big time toolsy guy, but he isn't going to see the majors for at least 3 years. I like Frazier as a secondary piece, but his OF defense is pretty bad, so his future might be as a DH, and I don't know if he'll ever hit enough to warrant that. Schmidt is a nice prospect that profiles as a mid-rotation starter. I see Garcia as a poor man's Freddy Peralta ... which could be good or bad.
  2. Yes, the scenario is basically the same as it's always been regarding trades. The only difference is that if you trade for a player not on a team's 60-man player pool, they need to be specified as a PTBNL until the conclusion of the season, and obviously cannot be used this season.
  3. I really wasn't anticipating many deals in this weird year, but the number has been pretty surprising. I think tomorrow is going to be pretty crazy. Brewers are sort of in a weird spot being on the periphery of the playoff picture, but also holding the obvious grand prize of this year's Hot Stove in Hader.
  4. It makes me sad that he sorta sucks this year. I guess he's always sucked since his numbers this year are basically identical to the last two years. I wouldn't say he's always sucked as much as he's been inconsistent in the past. You expect that a guy with his kind of stuff eventually finds more consistency. But perhaps this is the guy he'll always be?

  6. Yeah, they received the #26 prospect in baseball at the time, who didn't make his MLB debut until two seasons later. There was no 'MLB proven talent' that headlined that deal. Plus, even though Torres was only 19 at the time of the deal, that package was still panned for the most part as a desperate overpay by the Cubs. Of course Chapman ended up being a big part of the team's WS title that year, so they would probably do it all over again, but how good would a middle infield of Torres and Baez look for the Cubs right now?
  7. Yeah, I don't know which news aggregator site this is from, but it is incorrect and misleading.
  8. Hader was all over last night obviously, but was hitting 96. That is pretty much where he sits. I maybe remember a few 97s last year.
  9. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale There’s a growing sentiment among executives that #Brewers All Star closer Josh Hader could be traded. The pricetag is high, but it should be, with Hader likely the greatest difference-maker on the trade market. Things are seemingly heating up! Gonna be an interesting next 27 hours.
  10. Yeah, that .717 OPS would have fit right in. He is a better hitter than Mathias, Sogard, or Peterson and has been a proven masher against lefties. Depending on what it cost to get him he would be an upgrade in this lineup. Nah. Just woulda clogged a spot on the active roster. Plus the lineup has seemingly already been better against lefties than righties.
  11. Yeah, that .717 OPS would have fit right in.
  12. Last night's heroics aside, Sogard should barely see time against righties, let alone lefties.
  13. #OldFriend Tommy Milone just dealt from the Orioles to the Braves. The Braves continue to grab every warm body they can for their rotation, rather than give their supposed long list of high end starting pitching prospects a shot. Tells me all I need to know about the Braves starting pitching prospects.
  14. Every other team in this division being mediocre is going to keep this uber-mediocre Brewers team in the playoff chase right up till the end.
  15. I mean, between tonight, and keeping Maeda from throwing a no-no a couple weeks ago, Sogard has had about as much of an impact I gut with a sub-.500 OPS could possibly have.
  16. Kind of like a leisurely cruise in the country and being involved in a 100-mph police chase are both fun.
  17. Williams got the win. Hader had too many walks tonight. Brewers are gonna have to sell low now.
  18. He'd be fine as a bench guy. He's had the knack for some late inning clutch hits this year. Gyorko should still be starting 5-6 days a week at 3B.
  19. It won't. GMs of contending teams aren't idiots. They are idiots for the most part which is why I think we can get a monster package but Hader has walked a ton of guys this season and that can scare GMs off when the price is so hig to begin with. This literally makes no sense.
