  1. How in the world does a 7-inning, non-high-scoring game still go nearly 3 hours? Sheesh!
  2. I missed you yesterday. Just wait until the Brewers take a lead ...
  3. Starting pitching doesn't have a lot of wins, but they have a decent ERA and have generally kept the team in most games. When combined with what's been basically a shut-down pen, that explains the record I think.
  4. Second verse, same as the first ... Is this where you say that its a small sample size and that this offense is really good. Sogard and Peterson are really major league hitters and Garcia is worth every penny of his 10 million oer year contract. Well, that would certainly be an original thought, wouldn't it?
  5. My question is do you think the never should make political commentary? That just seems incredibly limiting to them as people. I believe CheezWizHed is talking about making a political statement while playing not that they can't have political commentary outside of the game. Entertainers can have a political agenda but please keep it out of the entertainment realm if you want to spout your ideas on politics or whatever on their own time and on their own personal media fine do that. If you are going to do it while playing a game or doing whatever your entertainment is I am going to criticize it and tell them to shut up and just do what they are being paid to do. I don't care about their politics, religious beliefs or what they had for dinner breakfast or lunch that day. I believe that yesterday's game boycott is the first time actual contests were affected by protests. All the kneeling , arm linking or whatever else other teams have done during the Star Spangled Banner was never done while playing, and was actually pretty easy to avoid without missing any actual game action.
  6. I think that's an overpay. Supak isn't a future ace, but he's a just-turned-24-year-old who profiles as a #3-4 starter, and is likely nearly major league ready. Pillar is the type of guy a team can typically grab for a couple of lottery ticket types.
  7. I fully expect Jace Peterson to go 3-4 and drive in 3, because baseball.
  8. I think every team interested in Hader knows the type of price it would take to acquire him. I think value-wise this proposal is pretty spot on.
  9. This is a pretty interesting concept for a proposed deal on MLB Network this morning. Lewis is currently #10 in the MLB top 100, and is a legit stud prospect. The Brewers could probably slide him over to 3B, and be set there with a high-end defender and very solid offensive contributor for the next decade. Jeffers is known as a very good pitch framer with a developing power bat. Rooker could possible solve the 1B issue.
  10. I think you are right. But they are not striking against their employers. Can anyone answer who they are striking against? I am guessing the criminal justice system? They are striking against participating in distracting the general population from the problems they perceive in our society. I'm trying to avoid making a political argument one way or the other, but that is my take. Everyone is always up in arms worried that our future is headed towards 1984 style oppression of our rights. In reality, I think Brave New World is much more relevant- we are so overloaded with content and given enough distractions that its almost impossible to keep up and process everything. Personally, I've been pushing myself so hard at my 60+ hr a week job and working through relocating my family to the west coast that I didn't even know what was happening in Racine until the Buck's didn't play. I think you nailed it. They are striking against those who are complaining this morning by saying "I use sports as an escape from this type of negativity." They are saying that they are fed up with being people's "escape" from reality. They are fed up with reality being so bad that people need an escape from it.
  11. Regardless of your political affiliation or whether you agree with what the Bucks are protesting, this is a historic, watershed moment.
  12. Just saw a delusional Yankees fan on Twitter say that a package of Andujar, Cessa, Florial, and Volpe was comparable to what the Cubs gave up for Chapman. I mean, I totally get having home team goggles, but WOW!
  13. Tommy LaStella could make sense to upgrade the Sogard role of a LH platoon bat at 2B/3B. Impending free agent, and not a Qualifying Offer candidate either, so shouldn't cost too much. And on a half-joking note; Can we just sign the likes of Adam Frazier, Colin Moran and Gregory Polanco just so we don't have to face them in our annual Pirates sweep? I'd gladly take Moran or Frazier, plug them in at 3B for this team, and not look back. I personally hate the idea of never trading within the division.
  14. Wasn't Urias's night off last night the first time he's not played in awhile? I thought he'd been pretty much playing regularly for a couple weeks now.
  15. You are correct. Attempting to work from home with an infant would be very difficult, if not impossible. Most infants do sleep a lot, so there is some reprieve there, but when they are awake, they require pretty constant supervision. I'm not sure what your career is, but most supervisors would frown on one of their employees working from home full time, while taking care of an infant. That pretty much leaves you with two choices; 1) Fork out the high cost of infant child care for a full week, or 2) Either you or your wife quit your job or take a sabbatical to provide child care. It may make more financial sense to pay the child care cost right now, but typically once you have multiple children, the ends start not justifying the means.
  16. Davies is a solid starter who is in a ball park that helps him a great deal. He is a contact pitcher and the bigger parks in the N.L. West will play more to his style than the hitters park in Milwaukee. I was always a huge Zach Davies fan. The guy is a solid mid-rotation starter. But that's his ceiling. It is valuable, but he's also getting to the point where he only has a couple years of control left, and will be pricier with arbitration. Eric Lauer basically profiles as a left-handed version of Davies, but is 2 1/2 years younger, with several additional years of cheap control. The guy is a good pitcher as well, and seeming that he just turned 25, he will be a future contributor. Let's not write him off completely based on a couple poor outings in the wierdest year in MLB history.
  17. Those here who called before the season that Reds spending would amount to another dud are welcome to dig up those old posts and have their bragging moment. I know I read it from a couple of you! Teams so very rarely go from dumpster fire to World Series contender in one season. Plus the Reds had several guys have career years last year, so some negative regression should have been expected. I think it was pretty obvious that Dick Williams made a bunch of splashy moves in an attempt to save his job. I think he's a goner.
  18. Another nice win. Even better that it comes against the preseason paper champion Reds.
  19. Well, the starting pitching has been ehh, while the lineup hus been ugh ... but this team's pen is legit.
  20. That website is sketchy. It cut Urias's value by roughly half minutes after he was dealt to the Brewers.
  21. No matter how much you prepare, you'll never actually be prepared. Just gotta roll with it. At least through the baby phase. We are finally out of the baby phase (have ages 3, 5, 7, 9, 11), and made plenty of mistakes along the way. That's how you learn. I'm not going to lie and tell you that you'll love every minute of it, because you won't ... but at the same time, enjoy the ride.
  22. Trust me on this one (my wife and I have 5 kids). https://www.target.com/p/sophie-la-girafe-teether/-/A-15286048?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tgtao&CPNG=PLA_Baby%2BShopping&adgroup=SC_Baby_High%2BMargin&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=c&location=9019245&ds_rl=1246978&ds_rl=1248099&ds_rl=1242884&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7ZL6BRCmARIsAH6XFDJcml9wHvofS56PA4Wz0k8CRrMggxWMTTYpyMxqitXfmk7A0_LMcVgaAkwpEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Second on maintaining the lack of clutter. We also have done cloth diapering, and on top of saving a ton of money on diapers over the years, we've also managed to not fill a landfill. The important thing to remember is that you will mess things up. But if you are attentive, you'll be just fine.
  23. See, I saw this when he said it and I still don't understand what he's getting at with it. What's different about the composition of our pen from when Hader was going multiple innings aside from the names on the jerseys? He was using him for multiple innings when we had Hader/Knebel/Jeffrey's available for late innings, so it's not that we just have better options now. Namely, Cory Knebel was an All-Star closer, so Hader could be used in multiple late-inning fireman roles in 2017-18. Hader was moved to the closer's role after Knebel went down with TJ surgery in 2019 Spring Training.
