  1. While I normally very much agree with opinion, the fact that the Dodgers lost is dramatic fashion last night due to their bullpen will definitely have them making changes in the offseason. As someone said a few posts ago, Hader is much more valuable to a team like the Dodgers than a team like the Giants. A player like Hader in Dodger stadium is a Chapman type acquisition. If they come calling, Stearns should listen and see what can be pried away. If they dangled Lux and May, I would hope there would be a conversation there. Resign Moose, Lux and SS, Keston at 2b, Thames/Braun at first is a pretty darn good infield. RP like Hader are not a dime a dozen, but if Stearns wants to consistently push for the playoffs, this might be the best way to go about it. Not sure how Hader would have changed things if the manager never puts him in the game. I think what he saying is if the Dodgers would have had Hader, they would have played it much differently last night. It was pretty obvious that Roberts didn't trust Jansen.
  2. Agreed ... the Lions typically have stretches where they look competent nearly every season. It's never sustainable. I agree that they are playing better right now, but that team doesn't have near the talent level of the Vikings or Bears.
  3. Only if they serve Sol and it's brought to the tables by David Gruber. They have to provide a vintage Corvette to go to Ho-Chunk too ... all while some Hanson knock-off plays in the background.

I agree ... last night's pen implosion from the Dodgers is going to have them in a panic to make major upgrades in the pen. Hader is one of the most electric pen arms out there. The move makes a lot of sense, which means it's likely to not happen. But if the Dodgers dangled a couple players like Lux, Seager, May or Will Smith for Hader, Stearns would have to listen.
  5. I get it if that's what you want, but if the questions is what will the Brewers do, there is no way they non-tender all those guys in my opinion. Remmeber that arb salaries are not guaranteed. I think Jimmy gets tendered for sure, and Caludio is a no doubter. Perez is a maybe. Shaw is also a maybe, but perhaps trending toward no. I think Spangenberg is a pretty sure yes.
  6. Just saying that it wouldn’t be unprecedented for Ray to put himself back on the prospect map in short order.
  7. Well, the Cardinals are up 9-0 in the 1st, so I imagine they'll be moving on. I don't like the Braves, so I'm ok seeing them gone. Will just be cheering all that much harder for the Nats/Dodgers in the NLCS.
  8. Even if Uke didn't want it named after him, they could have honored Schroeder's long tenure and named it something like Rock's or Buckethead's.
  9. Have the Brewers ever non-tendered that many arb-eligible players? I could see non-tenders of Perez, Shaw, Saladino and Austin if they feel they have better or cheaper options, but i have a hard time seeing them give up on Nelson without even bring him back to spring training in 2020.
  10. Okay, but why would Arizona want him? For the same reason the 2019 Brewers found value is former perceived prospect bust Trent Grisham - we as stupid fans tend to give up on this guys long before intelligent front office people deem their careers to be over.
  11. For a team that continues to be uber-cutsey with its social media and fan reach-out, I guess it isn't surprising that something stupid like this would happen.
  12. Chase Anderson – $10.3MM – club option for $8.5MM - Probably the biggest mystery. He was very solid this year, and has been throughout the length of his deal. I just don't know. i guess I'd lean toward taking the the option. Jimmy Nelson – $3.7MM - No brainer tender. Bringing him back for spring training, and if he gets hurt or doesn't show improvement in his command, you say goodbye. Hernan Perez – $3.0MM - I'd non-tender him, but I have a feeling he will be brought back. Corey Knebel – $5.125MM - No-brainer that he's back. TJ is relatively easy to make a full recovery from in a year. Might not be the back-to-back game guy he was. Alex Claudio – $2.2MM - I think they tender him and bring him back. They'll find a way to continue using him effectively. Travis Shaw – $4.7MM - I dunno. Complete mystery. I would hope for a rebound, though. Manny Pina – $2.2MM – club option for $1.85MM with a $150K buyout No brainer that he'll be back. Cory Spangenberg – $1.5MM - This is pretty cheap for a solid vet. If he isn't a platoon starter, he'll be the backup C again. Zach Davies – $5.0MM - He should be back. Solid starter who is underappreciated. Junior Guerra – $3.5MM - No doubt he's back at this price. Tyler Saladino – $1.0MM - Only way he's back is if they cut bait on Arcia. Orlando Arcia – $2.7MM - I think he's back. Ben Gamel – $1.6MM - Yep ... back as a #4/5 OF. Performed just fine in that role. Brent Suter – $900K - Back without a doubt. The question is whether he is brought back as a starter or in the pen. Tyler Austin – $1.2MM - Maybe. Depends on what they do as a platoon mate for Thames.
  13. Why not something simple like "Uke's Pub" or "Mr. Baseball's"? "A Restaurant To Be Named Later" will be forever confusing.
  14. What would the price be from the farm system? I could easily see the D-Backs asking for Ray and Ashby, in which case, pass. Ray's a good pitcher, but at most I'd offer Payton Henry and Lucas Erceg. Maybe Corey Ray or Tyrone Taylor even up. If the DBacks asked for Corey Ray and Ashby straight up for Robbie Ray, I do that deal without thinking twice. You get him for a "go for it" season, then can recoup a 1st rounder by tendering him. Being a lefty, Ray would be the perfect component to fill out the rotation.
  15. I know it doesn't matter as much as it used to, but it would be nice to have a lefty to break up the righties in the rotation as well.
  16. He's a guy who I believe could benefit greatly from spending some time at the team's pitching facility in Arizona. His out pitch is the splitter, and he wasn't the only pitching in the majors who had difficulty getting that pitch specifically to do what he wanted this past season. But in his very limited innings as a Brewer, I saw a guy with a very live arm and good movement. I personally think he's a guy who could very well have an Adrian Houser-like role and ascent next year. Perhaps I'm too optimistic, but I've always been intrigued with Faria going back to his time as a rookie with the Rays.
  17. Faria is out of options. But I agree ... he makes the team out of Spring Training next year, at least initially. Probably a long man in the pen to start with, but hopefully can move up the ladder. He's probably a dark horse to be given an opportunity to start.
  18. As a Cardinal hater, this makes me quite the opposite of sad
  19. I have a tough time seeing the Brewers outwardly shopping Hader this winter. But it wouldn't surprise me to see a team offer of a package of prospects or MLB talent that makes Stearns consider it, though. I personally can't see Hader being dealt. But if he is, it's going to be for a huge haul. I could see a team with highly ranked systems like the Braves, Padres, White Sox, Rays, and Phillies making a godfather-type offer. The Dodgers and Astros are also possibilities. Every one of those teams has pieces that are either already on the MLB roster, or are MLB-ready, that the Brewers would be interested in.
  20. Grandal had a very nice season offensively in a stadium that definitely plays into helping his offense, and stayed healthy all year. The only difference this year is that he no longer has losing a pick factored into signing him. Will that make a difference?
  21. Of course you do. Yeah, I think you need to just kinda laugh these IGT's off. 4-1 with a brutal schedule to start the season and it really feels like we're just a garbage team. We beat the Cowboys pretty easily on the road. They got a lot of empty yards and a couple of late scores...and the offense is still very clearly a work in progress. It's really just that simple. But if you're not just rolling over teams, these threads are just toxic. Exactly. Yesterday's game was a big win where the Packers came out, got a big lead early and were never really not in control. Yes, the Cowboys got a few late scores, and there was a time in the 4th quarter where there was a scenario in play that, had it happened, the Cowboys could have gotten back into the game, but it would have taken a lot of near crazy happenings to go the Cowboys' way. That's exactly how you want to beat another contending team. The Packers came out with a near perfect game plan, and executed it near flawlessly. I also don't believe that there is a huge need for the Packers to seek out another WR. MVS is a highly skilled receiver that I believe has the talent to be a high end #2/#1 if given the chance to prove it. Allison and Kumerow are both solid role players, and Lazard and Shepard both have upside as well. The game plan yesterday had the WRs taking a backseat, and the Packers executed that game plan to perfection. No one can say that the Packers weren't able to move the ball well against another solid defense.
  22. You don't enjoy sports, do you?
  23. Wow, talk about the ultimate "old man yells at cloud" post. Geez. I don't think there is a professional sports fanbase with more narcissists than the Packers.
  24. Actually, I think I can bring something up and not have it be my opinion. I do it all the time for future reference. Do I think Shaw would have preferred to be released versus staying here all year in the minors? Yes, I do. Once again, why would he not want that? He would have got paid the same and a team likely would have scooped him up and given him playing time for league minimum. By staying in the minors all year he had no way to prove himself. With another team he could have latched on with someone and proven he was worth offering arbitration to or to secure a starting job going into 2020 with. Now he very well could not get offered arbitration and never got another chance to prove himself. Do I think he was demanding the Brewers release him? Probably not, doesn’t mean he didn’t wish it had happened. This actually makes no more assumptions than someone saying he was fine being here and was fine sitting around in the minors all year. So maybe give yourself a break too? There may be ‘no evidence to back it up’, but you guys also have zippo evidence he didn’t want to be released. That's fine. You are free to believe whatever you want to believe. But it appears that if you were looking for others to agree with you, it won't happen.
