  1. I know he was a free agent signing, but I just read an interesting note on Sammy Watkins that indicated that he was PFF's top-graded blocker from the WR position the last three years. Obviously Gute and Lafleur have a type at WR ... long arms, strong, huge catch radius. Watkins is probably on the small end of what they typically target at 6'1" and 210-215 lbs. But he is a hell of a downfield blocker. That makes me think that the Packers aren't going to consider players like Olave and Dotson, who are not graded well in that area. WRs who do have strong run blocking grades include George Pickens, Treylon Burks, Jalen Nailor, John Metchie, and Alec Pierce. If Burks is there at 22, I think he'll be a Packer. If he isn't, I think they take Pickens at either 22 or 28. Pierce is a very strong 2nd round possibility.
  2. Mejia? Maldonado? The current version of Molina? Really? Agree to disagree I suppose. I just thought your article was being unfairly harsh on a guy who's proven to be a solid, affordable backstop. It isn't exactly an easy position to fill.

  4. Right. The Narvaez hate in this article seems incredibly nitpicky and misplaced. Other than not hitting much in the pandemic year, he's been good. I'd say he's a step below Grandal, but it's a small step. He's improved his defense to the point where it is a positive. Regardless of what a stupid site like Fangraphs says, he's a top 10 MLB catcher. Not so bad for a bag of ball trade.

  6. Condescension aside, you are correct with Gute's 1st round tendencies, but that might be coincidence more than anything, as he did spend a premium pick (a 2nd rounder) on Elgton Jenkins, who was 24 at the time he was picked.
  7. Watson visited yesterday. Bernhard Raimann is visiting tomorrow. I get that this team has thrown up smokescreens with these visits in the past, but where there's smoke, especially in the number of these older draft-eligible prospects they are bringing in, there might be fire.
  8. WR Christian Watson had a top 30 visit with the Packers, according to various published reports. He definitely fits the mold as far as what Gute typically likes in his WRs. Seems to be a late riser, as he's getting plenty of late 1st round helium now.
  9. Julio, these recap write-ups are absolutely fantastic. Thank you for putting them together! I love how optimistic and upbeat they are. I can tell in your writing that you are very passionate about baseball, and specifically about the Brewers system.

  11. If the ads would only load simultaneously with the rest of the page content, I think it would be ok. But the pop-ups showing up a few seconds after the rest of the page content loads makes scrolling and clicking pretty cumbersome. I realize how "first world problemy" this sounds, but I believe that right now this is a big issue, and it's driving users away. It is noticeable, especially in the game threads. Brock, please don't take what I'm saying as a criticism of what you are doing here, because there are plenty of noticeable improvements, but the ads, at least the way they are populated on the site, absolutely suck.
  12. He'd definitely qualify as the "twitchy 3rd down rusher" type spoke of in Montgomery's presser yesterday.
  13. The HBP that led to the retaliation was an inch off the inside of the plate, and Contreras (who already crowds the plate) leaned his elbow into it. He's a doofus.

  17. The problem I have when scrolling on a desktop is the ads are not populating immediately when I click on a page, so when I click a sub-forum, and then go to click a topic, the ad pops in just before I click, and I end up clicking on a topic I didn't intend to. Super annoying.
  18. WAAAYYYYY too early for Rowdy to be looking over his shoulder obviously, but he should probably be checking out the Nashville box scores every once in a while. It seems like forever ago that Singleton was a Top 10 MLB prospect and signed a huge and unheard of at the time long-term deal with the Astros, but he got those for a reason. Dude has always had monster power. He tore the cover off the ball in the Mexican League last year. I have no expectations whatsoever, but he'll be a fun story to watch as the AAA season progresses.

  22. What about complaining about how the ads popping up all over the place makes scrolling the forum on a PC kind of annoying? I get the need for ads, but is there a better way to do it? This is almost as bad as visiting one of those illegal sports streaming sites. Is it because I'm using Chrome as my browser?
