  1. Corey Ray is 100% trade currency at this point. Yes, I would say he is good enough defensively for RF, and if he can hit 20-25 HRs while reducing his Ks, he has a chance to be good enough offensively there. His true value as a trade chip, though, is that ability to play a good CF. I would say that with how well he's played this season, he is a no-doubt trade package headliner, rather than a secondary piece.
  2. For that? It was a poor baserunning decision, happens. In no way did it affect the outcome. Not like he got caught in a 9th inning rundown and ended up costing us the game. Those are the type of comments you make when you already have your mind made up that you don't like a player. Regarding Phillips, glad to see him have a great game yesterday. He's been spinning his wheels at AAA, and probably didn't deserve the call-up. But the talent is obviously there, and if he can cut down his K rate, he can be an extremely valuable and useful player, especially if Santana continues to do his poor Billy Hamilton impression.
  3. He was terrible with the Brewers, and he’s been terrible at Colorado Springs. We don’t need an outfielder who hits slap singles only and plays poor defense. Leave him there until he figures out how to drive the ball again.
  4. Because Peralta has been up for only a month, and didn't exactly light it up in his last start. Davies had been in the rotation all season in 2016 when he was sent down. I personally thought it was brilliant sending him down in 2016.
  5. JJ has made it! Awesome! I wonder if a team has ever had two non-closer relievers make the All Star team?
  6. Santana with two strikeouts tonight, and Arcia with three! Those two continue to not be able to get out of their own way.
  7. Nobody wanted to mention Eric Sogard was officially released today also? Umm ... good? Seems like a nice guy. Hopefully he catches on with the Orioles after they trade Manny.
  8. Thames Cain Yelich Aguilar Shaw Miller Saladino Kratz Miley Villar remains in the doghouse. Also appears it's going to be a straight 50/50 arrangement for Kratz and Nottingham. I'm personally not a fan of that, especially considering they may need Kratz's 25- and 40-man spots soon.
  9. I gotta think the Yankees can pretty much dictate the outcome if they want him badly enough. Okay, but so can every team. Not like he requires Top 10 prospects in baseball. Yep ... he'll end up going to the team that offers up the highest rated pitching prospect (in Baltimore's eyes ... which doesn't necessarily mean the highest rated Baseball America Top 100 guy)
  10. Same thing he did yesterday with the "Burnes in trade package for Machado" Bowden tweet. Wash, rinse, repeat. I called him on it yesterday, and a poster named iKezims defended the heck out of it. I'm assuming iKezims is Mr. Ford.
  11. Miley activated, and Asher and Houser recalled. Something HAS to be up with Woodruff. Either he's hurt, or he's being talked about in a deal.
  12. LOL, I love how Mr. Ford turned a very speculative "could be" into "is". Apparently context and accuracy is not important in the baseball blog world. It's all about views and clicks. I'm sure he'll say he's just "relaying a report" too. Um, no, that's not how it works.
  13. Brewers will start to retract players made available for Machado if Baltimore extends the waiting period beyond the all star break. LOL ... I could have told you that, with NO inside info.
  14. That was based on Jim Bowden's silly tweet. I know, but that didn't stop the writer from turning it into a "news" story. Headline and first sentence completely misleading and irresponsible.
  15. It sounds like you are having the same issues that I'm having. I keep hopping on Twitter hoping for something new, and become instantly disappointed when there is nothing there! Then, I try to remind myself that it is only July 12 and we still have two and a half weeks until the trade deadline. Man, this might be the longest 2+ weeks ever! I know! Where is Jim Bowden to Tweet some made-up garbage when you need him? LOL That Blue Crew Ball article saying the Brewers offered Burnes still shows up on my Yahoo news feed, and it bothers me every time I see it. I suppose that is my fault for having Yahoo as my launch page.
  16. Agree 100%. There are certainly plenty of guys in-house that need to step up, but an outside bat could/would do wonders I think.
  17. Almost positive Miley is going to be on some sort of pitch count tonight. I would be elated if can get 5+ from him. I though they specifically said on the broadcast last nigh that he didn't have any limits. Being Wade Miley is a limit in itself
  18. I doubt that is going to happen his first game off from rehab. I assume they will bring Woodruff and Houser up and have one ready at the first sign of trouble in the 4th+. Yep. Even if Miley doesn't have any restrictions, he's still restricted by being Wade Miley. A couple decent Spring Training starts and one solid MLB start in early May isn't going to change that.
  19. Almost positive Miley is going to be on some sort of pitch count tonight. I would be elated if can get 5+ from him. As much as I can't stand the idea of "piggy-backing" major league starters, it wouldn't surprise me to see Woodruff or Houser up today to take the ball for 3-4 innings after Miley exits. Actually, I think they'll both be up today.
  20. 1. What signs? Just because it came out yesterday that they are interested, it makes it likely they will trade for him? Granted, it often seems like "what the Yankees want, the Yankees get", but I haven't seen anything indicating that a deal to the Yankees is likely or imminent. 2. Agreed. Burnes threw two innings on Tuesday, and while he did that in a rather efficient 25 pitches, there was no way he was going to come back out last night, less than a month into his career as a relief pitcher.
  21. I agree with you. Peralta has looked fine since being called up, but if I had to pick any of the three between him, Burnes and Woodruff to trade, I'd pick Peralta. He'd be a solid sell-high guy due to his nice start to his career. It’s funny how one start moves the needle that much on a guy. He would have been untouchable to most everyone here 24 hours ago. The question on Peralta is what do we have in him? The numbers say he is our ace but the stuff and the profile says he won’t be a long term rotation piece. How long can a delivery that hides the ball well succeed at the MLB level? That’s a real question For now I’d put him in the Junior category where his performance has been outstanding but in terms of trade value he’d go at a discount to his numbers. My needle hasn't moved. I've never been a big Peralta guy. Perhaps he could be a long-term piece, but the track record of small starters without electric fastballs hasn't been great. That said, I'd hate to give him up in a trade for Machado. I'd hate to give up any potential 2018 major league contributor, actually, but that seems to be what the Orioles are looking for.
  22. It doesn't matter where the player is from. I believe it's all about how many minor league seasons they have accrued. You are going to see younger players from Latin America on the list because a lot of those guys typically sign their first pro contracts at 16-17 years old. So DSL seasons count towards the eligibility or just stateside seasons? Or the seasons don't matter, it is just counting time from the professional contract signing? Players are eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft who are not on their major league organization's 40-man roster and: were 18 or younger on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fifth Rule 5 draft upcoming; or were 19 or older on the June 5 preceding their signing and this is the fourth Rule 5 draft upcoming. Yes, it goes from when they signed their first pro contract.
  23. 35 pitches on Monday. Off limits till today. I mean, they have done this all year regarding Hader's usage. You may not like it. I don't like it. But it is what it is, and they are sticking to it. What are the facts here. He is an all star on the best team in the NL. He is widely considered one of the more dominant relievers in the game at the moment. That is pretty compelling evidence that they are using him correctly. I'd bet a large sum of money they also have a plethora of statistical data to back up that usage. Anyone can disagree but I'm going with CC and staff on this one over a bunch of internet armchair QB's (myself included). Yep, you got it. I too was frustrated seeing Lopez have an at-bat in the 12th last night, but if someone needs to be blamed, blame it on the string of short starts from our rotation guys, either due to ineffectiveness, inefficiency or odd quick hooks from Counsell. This team could really use a starter that can be expected to go 7 innings on a regular basis. Anderson and Davies were supposed to be those guys.
