  1. It would help if Santana wasn't reverting back into April Domingo.
  2. I think the starting pitching has been fine. Not gonna win many game when the offense can't give you more than a couple runs.
  3. Choi is quickly proving those who have labelled him a AAAA player correct.
  4. Wow, how crazy is that LSU recruiting class?
  5. People throw his name out as a TOR.... clearly you missed whole context of what I wrote. TORs take the ball in those meaningful games. Suter is decent pitcher but nowhere near TOR. I’d have zero confidence of him taking on a legit TOR in must win game. No one said anything about him pitching in high leverage game 6 or 7 but I feel that is best way to judge a guy on if they are TOR or not. Everyone on here is different but I consider TOR to be Ace, 1A, & #2. Ace is a guy who you believe is a lock to win every game. Think there is 100% they will win.Sabathia, Sheets, Greinke are probably only 3 that I have had that confidence with 1A is a guy who you believe can duo with almost anyone and are fairly confident you will win. Not as dominant as Ace but not far off. I’d say 90% sure they will win. This is where I’d put Yo, Jimmy Nelson #2 is a guy who is consistently good. Doesn’t have the pure dominant stuff of the Ace but always puts you in strong position to win. When these guys are on mound I’d say you are 80% sure they will win. Chase Anderson last year, Marcum. Now that’s just me. I favor dominant stuff to be confident in a pitcher as well. Suter, Davies, or any other soft toss command pitcher I never say are higher than 4 because I’m not confident in those guys to win every time out. They need to be perfect hitting spots with much less chance of surviving a mistake. I don't believe I missed any context. I agree with you completely. I think we can both agree that Suter (and guys like him) can be useful staff options, and even lower-rung rotation options. But there are many more posters here who want Suter banished to long relief or even starting in AAA than those who truly believe he has TOR potential. Personally, I think his upside is right in between those outcomes, which is pretty much the exact role he's currently serving.
  6. LOL, go back and look at any in-game thread for a Suter start, and there will be posters calling him a garbage pitcher by the second inning. Every single one. By no means am I saying that Suter should be considered anywhere close to a TOR starter. But if he's your #4-5 guy, you are fine. He's going to take the ball consistently, typically give you 5-6 innings, and keep you in the game. Starting game 6 or 7 of a playoff series? When did ANYONE suggest something that absurd?
  7. Ask the Red Sox if they'd like current Travis Shaw in their line-up. Did Travis Shaw go through a transformation as a Brewer? I don’t think we really had much to do with his success. He’s been this hitter really all along. The Brewers trade away guys who don’t have a great track record as a Brewer and for some reason other hitting coaches “fix” them and they become good. Apples to oranges with this comparison. I'd say Shaw went through a transformation. If he was seen as a 30 HR 100 RBI 3B, he wouldn't have been traded as part of a package for a decent reliever. He was known as a guy who had major holes in his swing and was prone to long dry spells as a member of the Red Sox, while showing flashes. I would say that, while he is still a streaky hitter, he has found something that puts him squarely in the top 10 3B in the league. Guys like Segura and Gennett are actually pretty good comparisons to Shaw, as they had shown flashes during their time with the Brewers. Sometimes a change of scenery is just needed for a guy to break out. Chase Anderson last year was another good example. These situations have gone both ways.
  8. Ask the Red Sox if they'd like current Travis Shaw in their line-up.
  9. 6', 162 lbs. Better get him to the buffet.
  10. Perhaps. It's a tough question. Could be that the risk is too great for a team like the Brewers.
  11. Maybe initially, but it would eventually wear over time.
  12. Yup. Stay far away from this guy What he did was horrid. There is no way anyone should condone that. But ... he was 15. Should the kid pay the rest of his life for his idiocy as a 15-year-old? Tough question ... but many would say he already is. The kid has shown huge regret. I don't know that the team's system is in such a state that they couldn't use a 1st round talent who will sign cheap and is looking for redemption.
  13. . I don’t know, could be good clubhouse guy..... save his teammates from choking *sad trombone
  14. First rounder (in the 30s) of the Rays last year, but didn't sign due to injury. Obviously an injury gamble, but should be a cheap signing and has potential mid- to upper rotation stuff if over the TJ surgeries. Guessing we won't see his debut until mid 2019 at the earliest. Still, a nice gamble on a guy that has a lot of talent.
  15. Roegner seems to be showing the promise to be that TOR arm... and he was a 22nd-round pick. Judging by the continuous Suter hate in the in-game threads, it has already been decided that if a pitcher doesn't throw in the mid-90s, he is worthless.
  16. They are 3 picks in. Plenty of talented pitching still available. A guy like Corbin Burnes can walk on water according to some posters around here. When was he drafted?
  17. Why do people state predictions like they are facts? Maybe toss on an "I believe" or "I think" before spouting a pure unfounded prediction. A kid just drafted 21st likely isn't going to spurn the Brewers for college.
  18. Starter, reliever, custodian....his value is higher than Eric Thames. I would put Thames and McHugh at about the same value before factoring in money. When you consider that Thames is owed millions, McHugh becomes the more valuable piece. McHugh is making $5 million this year in his 2nd year of arbitration, and will be making even more in this 3rd arbitration go-round in 2019. Thames is making $5 million this year, $6 million in 2019, and has a $7.5 million option for 2020 with a $1 million buyout. Money looks pretty similar to me.
  19. Nice drive-by. Why? He was great in May, and while his peripherals have skewed downward in recent seasons, he has been a durable #2-3 type starter his whole career, bordering on an ace during his best times. He isn't old, and is on a decently cost controlled contract. Yes, there is downside with any trade candidate, but I see more upside with Archer than I do some of these other guys whose names are out there.
