  1. Wow, nice to hear! He hasn't played at all this year, has he?
  2. Saying that he's out of the woods as far as his elbow is concerned is a huge, huge assumption. It is encouraging that he's been playing regularly at 2B, but the reason the Brewers were able to draft the best hitter in the 2017 draft where they did was because he was damaged goods. In a way, that is still the case.
  3. Opt out was for the 25-man roster, but because Choi had an option remaining, he had no say whether the Brewers could send him down. A lot of times, when a player signs a minor league deal with an opt-out, they have no options remaining, which gives them even more leverage.
  4. It's not been 10 days since he was optioned after the game on May 23rd so don't think he's eligible for recall until Saturday or Sunday. Unless a player is going on the DL, which very well may happen with Davies.
  5. I'd do both without really thinking twice. Shores up big roster holes with long-term solutions. Prospects are replaceable.
  6. Yes ... that one day on the roster circumvented the opt out. Thing is, Choi was buried on the 1B depth chart the minute he signed his minor league deal this spring. Thames and Aguilar were already here, and the Braun to 1B talk started even before Yelich was acquired. I guess my opinion is that if Choi wants to be traded, he needs to start putting up Garrett Cooper-esque video game numbers in Colorado Springs. Then maybe some team will be willing to trade something of value for him. Until then, I love having that depth sitting at AAA, especially with brittle guys like Braun and Thames ahead of him on the depth chart.
  7. He's been the team's most consistent hitter over the last month. How mad I would be would be completely dependent on the return I guess. It would have to be a solid return ... like a good catcher, 2B or a starting pitcher that can immediately be plugged into the rotation. I don't see any point to trading Aguilar for prospects right now.
  8. That's pretty pretentious of him if true. No one made him sign a minor league deal in the offseason. That's the only option he had, though, because frankly he's been a bad major league player. Like Brew said its just business. He actually had a May 15th opt out if he wasn't up the MLB team by then so he could have bailed by now if he wanted to. He's 27 and running out of time to establish himself at this level. He sees the writing on the wall here at 1B and wants to give himself the best chance to make it. Nothing wrong with that. No he couldn't have. By making the Opening Day roster, his opt out was voided. Granted it was crappy that he was sent down after one game, but that's how rosters work. Again, no one made him sign a minor league deal, and it isn't like he's ripping the cover of the ball by Colorado Springs standards, either.
  9. Vogt hurt his shoulder in Spring Training. Hard to blame Stearns for that. If healthy, he would have been nice to have in a timeshare with Pina right now.
  10. I agree with this, and believe this will be true. The fact he still is "sore" after all this shoulder talk... makes me believe (as i have said many times now) he is hurt more than we have heard. Question is, who will take his spot in the rotation? No one for now. With off days today, then next Monday and Thursday, they can afford to go a man short in the rotation. Probably won't need a 5th starter until the Cubs series starting on the 11th.
  11. Davis is older, more expensive and a worse defender than Santana. If Santana isn't worth anything, Davis is worth less than that. HRs are nice, but I think GMs are starting to see through those guys that only focus on that one aspect.
  12. That's pretty pretentious of him if true. No one made him sign a minor league deal in the offseason. That's the only option he had, though, because frankly he's been a bad major league player.
  13. Honestly, his best move in the Brewers' favor came when he was the Astros' assistant GM.
  14. It's possible that he could be a good reliever, but I think they should exhaust possibilities as a starter first. He is technically still working his way back from injury, and getting his pitch counts back up, so the multiple-inning relief outings make sense. Interesting that they optioned him to AAA, though, instead of back down to Biloxi.
  15. I love that we were in the position to complain about our All-Star closer coming into the game. I mean, how good is this pen?
  16. I think we need to remember that the end goal of player acquisition and building the minor league system is to win a World Series. Literally nothing else is as important than that. I'd take a Series win over 5 straight division championships with NLCS bow outs any day of the week. Edit: I'm agreeing with you 3and2Fastball, if that was unclear.
  17. Alright, let's see a couple shutdown innings from Hader now. Knebel can watch from the pen.
  18. Dang it ... I wish Yelich's arm was stronger. That could have been an out. Not a deep fly.
