  1. Reyes can also play passable defense at several positions. Andujar is a well-known terrible defensive player.
  2. I don't get it. If he's going to be back later today, activate him to play tomorrow. Why wait?
  3. Ashby just has that "it" factor with his stuff, though. Small pretty clearly does not. He's more of that typical lefty starter who is going to have to rely on control and command because he's not going to overpower you. And as long as that walk rate stays high, he's probably not going to play a major role for awhile.
  4. I find it a little disingenuous that the Brewers won in such a dramatic fashion, and this was your takeaway. I've gotten frustrated watching this team over the last week. Splitting the series against the Cubs that they should have swept hurts. Letting the Cardinals hang around last weekend hurts. The feeling that they are being ultra-conservative getting these major players back from injury downright sucks. I want to see thus team close to full strength. I want the IGTs to be fun again. I want Cain, Cutch and Yelich to get things figured out. I also understand that those who are typically negative will simply find something else to complain about when/if they do.
  5. Adrian Houser is currently sitting at a 3.51 ERA in 10 starts, averaging just over 5 innings a start. This is after he put up a 3.22 ERA in 28 starts a year ago. He's a starter.
  6. How in the world could you possibly think this is why I said what I said? Differences of opinion make great conversation. I'm simply getting sick of seeing you hijack every thread to complain about McCutchen and Cain.
  7. Can you please avoid turning every thread into your newfound obsessive gripe of ripping on Cain and McCutchen? Hiura is slowly earning himself some more time, but he hasn't done enough to earn a regular spot in the everyday lineup. Not yet anyway.
  8. Give me a break guy. This is a rough stretch with injuries, but this team has remain highly competitive in spite of it. Calling today's game an auto loss is far fetched, even for the most negative on this board.
  9. Because they signed him, and are paying him a good amount, to be this team's primary DH. When you make a sizable economic investment in a player, they typically have a pretty long leash. Cutch is going through a dry spell, but he's also had stretches where he's looked fine. They aren't going to dump him now.
  10. With what the Brewers are paying them, that is not going to happen, at least any time soon.
  11. By rule, any pitcher who throws sidearm or submarine style is typically terrible. Why the Brewers keep employing these guys I have no idea.
  12. Yes, they do. That's how stats work. It is a projection of what they'd done so far but over the whole season. The numbers are proving the Brewers to be a good team, and they would have to significantly underperform to play themselves out of playoff contention.
  13. This team has generally been in contention for a playoff spot since going 86-76 in 2017. Suter, Woodruff and Hader are the only players remaining who were active on that team. The Brewers have proven that it is in fact possible to stay in contention for a long period while turning over a significant portion of the roster. They have also proven that putting a good product on the field consistently puts butts in seats. Therefore I don't expect the extreme "rebuild" lows that we saw often under previous regimes. As long as Stearns and his organizational philosophy (in a predicted eventual handoff to Arnold) remains in place, I expect this team to be solid.
  14. I thought I turned off the email notifications, but I'm still getting several a day. Do I have several user names linked to me email account or something?
  15. If Olson doesn't turn out to be anything, the Norris deal is a clear nothing burger.
  16. I'm not a Barker guy either. I'm afraid his 90 mph heater would get eaten alive at the MLB level. That's the same reason I'm not on the Milner bandwagon. He's basically a junkballing side-armer. Those types can be effective in short doses, but rarely if ever have any sort of sustained success. Once the league figures them out, they are typically shelled and relegated back to the minors. See Dillard, Tim.
  17. Typically, though, the difference stat-wise between average and replacement level for a back-end pen arm is one blowup outing. Personally, watching Milner pitch, it seems we are in danger of that whenever he toes the rubber.
  18. Mathias is not the most inspiring choice. Personally I would have liked to see what Dahl can do. But I suppose if Taylor is basically going to move into a full-time role, and Cutch is going to see more time in the OF, having another versatile guy on the bench makes some sense.
  19. Exactly. If they need a utility guy, just call up a utility guy. I doubt we see Turang unless Urias or Wong go down before Adames returns.
  20. I know. It was an extremely unfortunate hot take. As hot takes tend to be ...
  21. Don't forget that Bowden Francis went with Richards in that deal for Tellez as well. He's getting slapped around pretty good in AAA this year, but was added to the Blue Jays' 40-man roster, and has one MLB appearance this year.
  22. With how the Brewers value versatility, Brosseau should probably be getting all of Cain's ABs. Just go with a OF/DH group of Yelich/Taylor/Cutch/Hiura/Peterson with Cain mixing in with the hope that he finds his stroke.
  23. I would disagree with that. Hiura is going to be atrocious wherever you have to play him defensively. Peterson is definitely a better 2B/3B than he is an OF, but he's certainly not terrible out there. You need a strong arm in RF. Jace has that. Keston doesn't. Still, my guess would be that Cutch sees most of the time in RF, with Taylor filling in when he's not in CF.
  24. Jace is at a .262 average and .340 OBP over his last 15 games. They could do much, much worse for a fill-in.
  25. Dahl if they want a power threat. Davis is more of a CF slap-hittter. Agreed that we'll likely see more Cutch in the OF, and more opportunities for Keston. Those guys will really need to step up, as Renfroe is arguably the team's best hitter right now.
