  1. And here it is: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/rays-micah-johnson-clears-waivers-outrighted.html Blah! I guess every team has a Micah Johnson waiting around to be DFA'd. For the Brewers, it's Oliver Drake.
  2. I'd be OK with that. I like Cobb probably more than a lot of people here. Not a ton of milage on his arm, and getting him out of the AL East should help him put up some nicer numbers. I think he's a low-3's ERA pitcher with the type of stuff to go deeper into games.
  3. Rodriguez had knee surgery after the season, and is predicted to miss the first month of the year at least. I like his talent, but that scares me. The Red Sox farm system is pretty barren, though. Rodriguez is about the only name that makes sense. They have a few nice prospect pitchers, but most are 20 or younger, and years away from MLB relevance. Not necessarily a bad thing, bit I personally would like to see Santana flipped for pitching that can help the MLB squad this year.
  4. Good idea. I do wonder if any of the Twitter imitators are posters here. The guy posting the Stroman stuff yesterday had your posting style down, but he got carried away trying to get people excited before finally coming clean. And even after he admitted he was a fraud, there were still people begging him for updates! There's always going to be doubters and skeptics. Some of those people are going to be haters, because they let frustration combine with the fact that they really have no concept of how to treat people. What you're providing is a fun, harmless outlet in what has been a incredibly slow offseason. I hope you continue to use Twitter, and this forum, to supply your posts, whether they be rumors or your own personal opinions.
  5. You bother because you pursue every avenue to strengthen your team, and we're likely talking about a minor league deal with a spring training invite and opt-out clause. Not a risk at all. It isn't like there are a ton of pitchers beating down the door, either. Could make for a pretty dang cool story.
  6. I guess I'd be ok with a 4-year deal with a team option for year 5. Player opt out after 2 years. $110 million total value ($95 million for the first 4 years, with a $15 million option for year 5). Front loaded deescalating deal.
  7. Kemp offers next to nothing to a contending team, and his contract is napalm. I don't understand why we'd help another NL playoff contender get out from under that contract. They only reason they even took on Kemp's contract to begin with is the Braves agreed to take on several of the Dodgers crap contracts. Well, the Dodgers made that bed, and I hope no one bails them out of having to sleep in it.
  8. Braun is documented saying the Dodgers are the only team he'd accept a trade to.
  9. All he'd do is take up a spot that could be going to a player like Aguilar or Phillips. Plus, as long as Santana is on the team, Kemp's skillset is completely redundant.
  10. You posted this exact post literally 19 minutes ago.
  11. I don't see the point of this deal, just thought it might be worth mentioning in here. It has no point. Kemp is garbage. I have no idea why they'd even entertain doing this. The only thing I can figure is that high end prospects or Grandal would be coming back the Brewers' way along with Kemp.
  12. I would expect Kepler and Santana to have close to similar values, as 25-year-old corner outfielders. Kepler's offensive numbers didn't come close to what Santana did last season, but he is considered an above-average defender in the corner outfield, which does make up for that to a point. Perhaps Santana profiles as a little bit better run producer and power hitter. This article speculates that Kepler for Archer straight-up is a fair trade. http://twinstrivia.com/2018/02/08/should-max-kepler-be-traded-for-pitching/ Heck, if that's the case, the Brewers should be able to get Fulmer straight up for Santana.
  13. Corbin, and it's not close. Garcia is exactly the type of pitcher a bad team signs, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle to flip him at the deadline.
  14. Not since the days of Lenny Harris have we had such a Weapon at our disposal.
  15. High Heat ‏ @High_Heat_19 6m6 minutes ago More Please don’t spread to Bf that I’m on here. I tell the users that I’m fake so the trolls don’t follow me onto Twitter. My goal is to have a healthy community and not give them a reason to come over here and harass me. Twitter is funny. Twitter trolls are also funny, but more in a "laugh at" than "laugh with" sense. Maybe no one on this message board will also surf Twitter for Brewers information.
  16. I think you're right. He was "Al The Thinking Man" as well.
  17. http://albethke.blogspot.com/ I can only be heard on Al's Rambling's now. The HH19 Twitter's out there are all fakes. Well, they say imitation is the finest form of flattery. So I guess you should be flattered? I know the offseason is boring, particularly this year, but seriously, are there really fans out there who are ... um ... this? Although I do have to say that @High_Heat_19 is pretty spot on as far as impersonations go. The dead giveaway that it isn't you, though, is everything speculated on there is piggybacking off other insider posts.
  18. yeah ... cost is going to be huge. We're talking Santana plus probably Hiura and two arms.
  19. I get that Tampa would like to shed salary, but Colome at $5.3 million would have plenty of interested teams. That isn't close to a negative value contract.
  20. Yeah, it's certainly a lot of tea leave-reading, but the move does certainly appear odd. I can't imagine Hannigan didn't have other options on a minor league deal, considering the dearth of catching talent in the league.
  21. Yep, you nailed it. I know Colome is a nice piece, but I'd question whether another pen arm is worth the cost.
  22. Swap out Bickford with Hiura, and add Ortiz and probably another high-end prospect, and you might have something. Bickford is worth practically nothing at this point. Hopefully he can rebuild his value in AA this year, but right now, he's the longest of long shots, and basically a low-odds lottery ticket.
  23. Ugh. I hate the idea of giving up ML-level prospects at positions of need. I'd much rather give up players who are further away, but may have high upsides. Peralta, Diplan and Lemons fit that bill better.
  24. I'd be happy with either Cobb or Arrieta. Cobb because I think he's been a tad underrated in his career, and he doesn't have near the milage on his arm that others do. Arrieta because he's a bulldog on the mound, keeps himself in terrific shape, and will likely be pitching with a chip on his shoulder, especially this year against the Cubs. I still believe that they'll sign one pitcher and trade for one, but what if they went crazy and signed two? Yes, they would be surrendering their 4th and 5th round picks, but that might be more palatable than giving up a haul of prospects for a pitcher. Then that would free them up to trade Santana and/or Broxton for prospects as well.
  25. You are trying to tell me that a 23-year-old SS can't improve with the bat. And I'm missing the point? Plus Arcia's defense is lightyears ahead of anything Adames is going to provide.
